Even though market falls but still bitcoin will win the race among others. The entire market still depending on bitcoin's trend, everything will goes down once bitcoin will go down also. Since we are in decentralized market,  there is no way we can do to change that.

It is becoming really difficult to believe that this is the much awaited bull run. This is not the first time we are experiencing price appreciation. So the market is still filled with so much uncertainties.

As traders, you really need to take advantage of every situation, whether bullish or bearish, just like we are right now, bitcoin suddenly went on a sort of break out run, and I hope everyone had just when the price is $6800 and its easy profit if you are willing sell at the current price of $7K or wait till it increase more at $7K++.

Bitcoin dominance this year would still be the same! Most of the Alts will depend on the bitcoin movement. My personal prediction this year would be lesser compared to previous year. I think the 15k support at the top is more realistic and 5.5k at the bottom. Lets just all wait and see when time unfold for all cryptocurrency.

As we have seen in previous bull run, Bitcoin dominance peaked at 66% on 8th then alts started to pickup then BTC price reversed on 17th. What is your perception on the next bull run how high do you think the BTC dominance will reach this time?
Do you think it will be lower because of so many new coins have entered the market since then?
What do you think of the current price rise, where do you think it will confirm a bull run?

Would love to see your input on those.

Actually the scenario is little different right now. Bitcoin Dominance is almost 47 percent with market cap just under 300 Billion. This means people are moving money in bitcoins by selling their alts and new money is not being floated in the market with full flow.

BTC will dominated cryto market as always, others only followers. New coins can't take bitcoin position because all coins came from bitcoin and bitcoin already have long history in crypto market. Besides that bitcoin always get higher supply and demand than others. Up or down bitcoin will lead all coin, follow it and leave market when take profit/ stop loss reached.

BTC is currently stable at the $8,140 level and has quickly recovered after slipping through the $8,100 support. Price touched the upper extremity of the lowest zone in this sideways trend, but the bulls swiftly fought back, and the price has snapped back up and is now sitting within the previous support zone.

We can see from the volume profile that buy volume stepped in to match the sell volume indicating that the struggle will continue. Something to note is that we are witnessing lower highs and lower lows forming indicating a slow downward climb.

I think every bull run would have its own style. Bitcoin dominated during the last bull run and some altcoins bleeded and some skyrocketed more than bitcoin itself. No one can ascertain what the next bull run would look like but for sure, bitcoin dominance would always be there

60% dominance will be super. But I like to see at least 50% first this time. Now more and more altcoins come to the market. So I don't know whether Bitcoin can reach 60% dominance sooner. But I hope so.

Bitcoin is used as a reference for many bitcoins as the value of all cryptocurrency values. Bitcoin is a gateway coin for many investors, because of its high profile and bitcoin remains strong and increasing.

Funny how threads are being created.
The other week it is all about bitcoin is dead and a lot more FUD's about bitcoin and then, with a sudden rise it began to be a dominating currency.
What is the matter with this people?

I do think this is just the start. But hey, look at the difference by now. Some altcoins are not being pulled up the same way bitcoin is. Looks like they might be switching back to BTC.

According to CoinMarketCap the current dominance of Bitcoin is 48%. This is a normal value for April 2018. Recently its dominance fell down to 32% in February 2018. But who knows whether the dominance of Bitcoin will increase or not. Probably everyone can sell their altcoins right now and buy BTC, and when the price of Bitcoin will grow relative to these coins, buy altcoins again but much more.

It is quite good that bitcoin is keeping the first place because in this wild and unstable world we have only one still thing and it is the dominance of Bitcoin, I hope all the countries will accept it, and we will be more free.
I agree. As bitcoin keeps its dominance over some other crypto coins, then it would be an advantage to us to invest more on bitcoin. The market price is currently increasing right now but let's not close the possibility of its price sudden fall. But even with its fall,i'm sure bitcoin will still manage to recover from its fall based on the previous price charts.

the kind of this dominance could be a something bad for bitcoin itself. even if bitcoin become so hype but its trade volume was so... "i can said, its still worst"

i think this is the effect of so much coin/token born today. which make people's money divided into various kind of shitcoin that just focused on bitcoin

I don't think the Bitcoin dominance will go as high as it did in the previous cycles.  I can actually see it coming down further and further each cycle as the alts slowly wrestle market cap from Bitcoin.

Yes, I share the same opinion of Bitcoin dominance becoming more prominent in the not so distant future which will massively contribute to the bust of BTC closer to its real market value.

Looking at the last 3 weeks of December 2017 and leading up to new all-time-highs.

Dec 03- 10-  Bitcoin Price: $11,177.76  Dominance: 48.0%
Dec 10 -17   Bitcoin Price: $13,916.79  Dominance: 48.0%
Dec 17-24    Bitcoin Price: $19,528.93. Dominance: 48.0%

Source: https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/

So nothing has change. Bitcoin dominance is also at 48% so it made me think that maybe this so called dominance is irrelevant in terms of the price of bitcoin.

I've turned into that annoying Bitcoin guy in the office, everybody knows my thoughts on banks and bitcoin. And one thing that seems certain is everyone who is a noob only thinks there is Bitcoin and then a bunch of scammers.  And there are a lot of scams, which doesn't help our community.

I believe Bitcoin will always be the dominant crypto currency, and I am investing heavily on that hunch.  Skoal to all of us BTCBTCBTC believers!

it looks like this is the beginning of the return of bitcoin currently on the btc market has reached $ 8000 and I think that will continue to rise, hopefully other altcoins follow.
It is not a new thing that we are hearing this news of dominancy of bitcoin as bitcoin is dominating the entire crypto market since the time it has been introduced. Bitcoin is the only coin which is just like the backbone of entire crypto market and the ones who are investing in crypto currencies trust bitcoin more than any other coin and that this is the reason why bitcoin is so much famous amongst the people.

No one knows on what would happen next into this market. After all those kind of percentage talking about on the dominance between altcoins and bitcoin itself, is there anyone who do able to predict? For sure none of us would have the idea.
Do you think it will be lower because of so many new coins have entered the market since then?
Possible but knowing about bitcoins popularity and adoption we can presume that it would still have the biggest percentage on the entire market.
What do you think of the current price rise, where do you think it will confirm a bull run?
No literally a bull run yet we arent still on the main fundamentals as of this year. Like ETF decisions, we do already see the initial which is a decline but it didnt affect too much.

although many altcoins are included in the crypto but people will definitely come back again to bitcoin. but it is also of course very influential on bitcoin price stability.
I admit i usually go with bitcoin and altcoins investments like ETH because they will give you the biggest profit you want. But having bitcoin alone can be a great choice already because you don't have to fear anymore knowing this coin has still so much potentials to give.Just buy when they are in dips and then hold them after.I'm sure you will have a sure profit in due time.

That 66% will still be too low for dominance in the next bull run and I am pretty sure it will bring waves next although we haven't seen the best of the increases yet. Altcoin slowly grows according to my portfolio. You're partially right in the altcoins catching up with BTC dominance, but it couldn't be on the same level yet or at least it will never be, we don't know.

I have talked about this before and I will again. There is two chances that could happen. Either bitcoin price will stay about the same (or go up just a bit more) and altcoins will soon follow it because there will be new money coming into the altcoins. Or the bitcoin price will go down and alts will gain value against btc. These are the two only options for the dominance to go down and I promise you it will go down. I hope alts go up while bitcoin is still up.

In coming days, definitely bitcoin's share on entire crytpo space may get shrunk and which might go as low as 10% also when there will be another inflationary coin like ethererum along with which will get bumped in more frequent times. But, marketcap or its value for measuring dominance in the market at all not having any actual meaning in my understanding.

IMO, bitcoin dominance is nothing but an unnecessary statistic since we all know that in time, people would always revert back to bitcoin after the profits in other alts have been reaped. As the first known cryptocurrency that is publicly traded and hit the exchanges, people will always be comfortable in having their money invested in bitcoin no matter how bad the previous runs have been since they know bitcoin always recovers. It's already a given fact in the world of cryptocurrencies, and even though we try to twist the words, bitcoin dominance, even without the term, will always be there no matter what. Money in the crypto-economy only revolves around with a few fresh money coming in day by day, so it's somewhat irrelevant to keep track of this so-called 'dominance'.
Bitcoin is not only dominating all the crypto coins which are there but it is also dominating some of the regular currencies too and that there are likely chances that we will be able to see this bitcoin dominating rest of the regular currencies too in the future and that a day will come, when we will see this bitcoin becoming the world’s global currency which will then be used by majority of the people.
As I had been observed for several years bitcoin still dictate the tempo of cryptocurrency market, once bitcoin price go down the price of altcoins will also go down, and when it will go up same thing happened to altcoin's that’s why I would say  it cannot be denied bitcoin still dominate the cryptocurrency market.

Do not doubt about it that this thread has brought a clear topic for us and the answer is simple if we perceive the price reflecting that even its lowest market value is far better than others. Its average improvement is on its ways besides which other cryptocurrencies are also progressing but the Bitcoin is improving rapidly on the basis of average data. So it is of no doubt that the Bitcoin is dominating over others and will keep its dominancy in future.
I think that BTC will not dominate over other crypto-currencies more than 65% this year. I want of course that BTC well dominate more strongly, but I understand that the market is overloaded with projects, and when investors come to this market, they d`nt really understand the distinguishes between BTC and altcoins.

Most of the time good reviews really do help Bitcoins morale however the negated part of it has been emphasized through the years and it is not that shocking if some people starts saying Bitcoin dominance when it is already dominating in the process. This thread needs an update or maybe not.

I wholeheartedly agree with what's been said about dominance being a useless statistic, especially when practically anyone can make a shitcoin and there's now thousands of alts out there that each make Bitcoin' market dominance decrease a little bit. The fact still is that Bitcoin is and will continue to be the most dominant cryptocurrency- as an example, most crypto payment processors only accept Bitcoin and perhaps one or two alts like Litecoin.

The dominance was a very special, unfortunately, we cannot compare the previous because it has a different run.

The additional altcoins doesn't matter if we observe how bitcoin dominance work and its effects on all altcoins it does not affect even how many altcoins are now in the market as it push more the bigger crowd in addition to its dominance.
From this price, i will confirm we are in the bull run.

I suggest to be careful now because the ghost month is approaching. I'm happy with the current pump but I cannot set aside the possibility that it is just a bull trap. Always invest with caution. So far, the altcoins are now starting to dump but Bitcoin remains strong and keeps on rising.
If you don't mind, I am confused what you are talking. There is no ghost month, I think.  All the situation will depend on world circumstance and the user like us. Any time Bitcoin go up no one can say exact time but we can predict. However, we should follow the bull by following the rules.

Yeah correct some people experience that ghost month last year are very worse scenario because of the segwit hardfork between bitcoin and bitcoin cash hoping this approaching month will be smooth for the bitcoin and cryptocurrency stability.
The harfork of bitcoin cash last year really affect bitcoin price and that is why we were able to see that positive price movement.  Bitcoin is going to makes the same movements this coming August again if the ETF is approve and we just need to buy now in other for us to be part of the next prices' revolution.

You just cannot ignore the advancement in one technology that can outshine the coins you have invested in. Read about why NOKIA lagged behind in the technology race.

Bitcoin has already a great domination on the market and this might happen to continues because in the presence of so many crypto currencies in the market, non of them has so far been able to give a tough time to Bitcoin except ETH which is also far behind Bitcoin but it pace of growth is showing it is improving very quickly.

This is a condition that makes the market more heated. The rise in Bitcoin prices has left some people surprised and it has made the situation in the Trading World increasing. Trading transaction volume has been extraordinary compared to before. After a vacuum for several months, now the visible conditions can certainly continue to show a positive thing. Bitcoin is still a very attractive commodity compared to other coins.

Bitcoin isn't as useful anymore as the on chain fee's are too high therefore people are looking at alternatives to bitcoin. Thus value is flowing out of bitcoin into other currencies and this can be clearly seen in the lack of bitcoin dominance. User's want new features and they're going to other coins to get it. If current conditions persists, Then bitcoin will eventually be overtaken by another currency such as etherium and other valuable currency coming.
But still bitcoin is the most used cryptocurrency on a daily basis. You can see it being accepted in gambling sites, ecommerce, ico investments site almost everything that offer products and services accepts bitcoin so its impossible that it will be replaced by a lower currency.

The price increase of bitcoin has made its dominance range stand above 47% which is expected to change with respect to the growth happening with the altcoins. Possibly this could reach 50%,if the price increase continue in the gradual manner without much variation on the price of tokens and altcoins.

The dominance is important but the percentage is not really accurate since everyday there are tons of new coins listed on CMC.

Every coin that's listed will have an effect on Bitcoin dominance because it might be some small coin but might have a marketcap over $1 million easy and that will affect the ratio a little bit.

So 50% dominance today might of been similiar to 65% dominance about a year ago. Its not a very good measure.
Yes thats what im thinking about too, even when the market was very bearish before, the number of altcoin is still growing.
The crypto market cap is decreasing but it is even more spreaded.

Money in the crypto-economy only revolves around with a few fresh money coming in day by day, so it's somewhat irrelevant to keep track of this so-called 'dominance'.

You can see that market capitalization is being poured into bitcoin, although the price of bitcoin in the past few days has been steadily increasing but market capitalization has not increased sharply but the price of altocin is decreasing, which gives found that the increase in bitcoin prices was due to the capitalization of altcoin to bitcoin. So I think we should only invest in bitcoin at this time.

Woha, 66% dominance? From where you collected that information. I guess according to the CMC information the BTC dominance is around 47% and to reach 66% is like another month I guess. The dominating nature is because of investments that are being made into BTC instead of ALTs due to the sudden hike in the BTC. People are now trying to get more BTC than ALT and I am 100%  sure that people do not want to loose themselves from the game yet. Its vain to ask about the next bull run yet because we are already in the one and lets just enjoy it.  Cheesy

history won't repeat as last time - my opinion. Now the dominant of bitcoin will be unloaded and free bitcoins will begin to pour in altcoin why some coins will just shoot. This my assumption

This might be a trap by McAfee, if you see his twitter he was hinting that bitcoin rise is coming i have a feeling he is behind this pump and wants people to join it so he can make more money for himself.
This might just be a theory but we have seen in past whales doing something like this to make profits for themselves

I'm not a fan of this whole bitcoin dominance and marketcaps because its not a good indication as the strength of the coins per se relative to its market position. There's a lot of alts that can easily to go the top 10 and claim to have the dominance, we've seen Bitcoin Cash, EOS, Ripple and even Ethereum try to dominate and get the number 1 position from Bitcoin but was never successful. As for the price, the ETF application is really pushing the price right now, as to where it is a bull run or not, we can't say, because we have to wait till the decision is handled down by the SEC in August. It might be a bull run leading up to the decision and then we will see where it will go.

Most of the time good reviews really do help Bitcoins morale however the negated part of it has been emphasized through the years and it is not that shocking if some people starts saying Bitcoin dominance when it is already dominating in the process. This thread needs an update or maybe not.

Bitcoin dominance is at its highest level since the beginning of 2018. According to data collected by CoinMarketCap, bitcoin’s total value is just shy of $130bn with the entire crypto market coming in at $276.9bn. This means that BTC currently constitutes 45.5% of cryptocurrency’s total market capitalization.

We can't exactly say whether current small pump is just a start of another bull run or a bull trap but we have to diversify our investment right now between altcoins, bitcoin and fiat. Don't just hold one coin and expect it to get pumped along with bitcoin if there will be a surge. Once bitcoin will start to pump many traders tend to sell their alts for bitcoin out of FOMO which cause dump in alts price and when bitcoin price start to go sideways alts will start to pump again.

But market might not react just like in past so be careful with your investment, its your hard earned money so don't get FOMO entry with it.
itcoin will probably dominate. This can be an easy target for cyber criminals because we know Bitcoin and digital currencies are very anonymous. This should be the highlight, not only that the number of bitcoin users will be a new problem in the world, especially in the world economy.

Bitcoin dominance is used to measure hiw much Bitcoin is worth as percebtage of all cryptocurrency values. Bitcoin is the gateway coin for a lot of investors, they buy BTC before purchasing coins, but also because of its high profile and low volatility ( which is something of a relative statement). Bitcoin dominance of the cryptocurrency market is at its lowest level ever to rising interent alternative digital coins.

Now the current market seems really good and people will enjoy about this price trend we see from last week. As I noticed bitcoin price going to touch 10k USD at least this month. If you want to utilize the situation this is the right time to do that.
In volume wise and price wise bitcoin value seems started growing in the market. I have checked the marketplace value of the every coin all seems green trend now, whether you are a trader or hodler please have the fund in your wallet do not sell it.

I suggest to be careful now because the ghost month is approaching. I'm happy with the current pump but I cannot set aside the possibility that it is just a bull trap. Always invest with caution. So far, the altcoins are now starting to dump but Bitcoin remains strong and keeps on rising.

I really think this is just a bull trap, this bear market may continue for a very long time like the crash after 2014.

Bitcoin dominance is still very high and will most likely continue that way.  Most altcoins don't serve much of a purpose and bitcoin is really the only coin that has mainstream recognition everywhere.

nobody cares about market capitalization except the altcoin bag holders who want to say their altcoin is worth something just because its market cap is higher than some abstract number. bitcoin's dominance is not its market cap and how big it is compared to the whole market.

bitcoin's dominance is the fact that it has the highest volume, the most number of investors, the most number of users including merchants and customers, and a lot of other real world factors that altcoins do not have which means bitcoin's dominance has always been near 100% even when its percentage of the market cap was going down because of altcoin pumps.

It's because people wants to join the ride and is now transferring to Bitcoin from alts. But I know that people will be left out when Big whales tries to transfer again from another coin I know that a lot of people will be angry again.

The only poinbt a bull run will be confirmed right now is if we are able to break $10000 and also we should not forget the possibilities of fail break outs during bear trends and that would take some extra caution for anyone who wants to get into a position. Also, last year is obviously not an indicator of what could possibly happen this year, because we are totally in the opposite of last year right now.

You can see that today's bitcoin prices have risen sharply from $ 7300 to $ 8000 at present, altcoin prices are starting to fall sharply and market capitalization is not much increased, this gives The capitalization of the altcoin is being poured on bitcoin. I think the bitcoin price will be able to grow very strongly and may reach $ 8800 in the near future.
