In my opinion, holding altcoin is a wise thing, as long as it is done at the right time. That is when altcoin prices are falling. To wait for the price to go up, holfibg needs to be done for a few days, a few weeks, or even months. This is what is usually done by reliable investors. In a careful way, altcoin holding can bring huge profits. Maybe in 2018, you have to hold your altcoin. And also do not worry about the decline in altcoin prices, so as not to harm you traders and investors. thank you

Borderless for People, Frictionless for Banks
i have seen the price of btc changing very quickly today, from 8800k to 9200$ in short time, so i think this is a very fluctuative time for any investors want to buy with cheap price. but becareful before making any investment the price can be very much flutuative, so choosing the bottom to buy is quite dangerous, we should not be greedy.

I think ethereum and bitcoin can be purchased on every value. Still ethereum and bitcoin are really cheap.
We will see amazing prices at the end of this year. I am waiting for quarter four of this year. If we can be patient , we will be rich.
so really only the patient people will be able to make big money! It seems to me that the price of ETH and PTS is now the best to buy! I recently bought it and now I wait when the price grows

Both these coins are such that you can never go wrong purchasing them at any price. Both are going through down trend currently and are bound to come back. Also you might have heard the phrase, Buy the Dip. Its famous for a reason.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are down over 20% today. It appears that Bitcoin's upcoming "forks" may be contributing to this, along with possible new legislation introduced by Congress looking to possibly regulate Bitcoin and other cryptos in the USA.
My initial read of this situation is that this is probably a great time to move your holdings toward Ethereum, as it doesn't have the technical issues Bitcoin has at the moment...

Here is a great article discussing all that is going on... Highly recommended: https://bitcoininvestment.news/bitcoin-and-ethereum-price-crashes-20-blood-everywhere/
Both are falling sharply. However, ETH seems to fall faster than BTC. They may continue to fall. If anyone wants to make long-term investments then you can buy them, keep them for a few years. You will have a surprise.

If I correctly understood your question, you are interested in the way of saving your investments now.
I think that now the best option for investments is going into "cash" and diversifying the portfolio with new projects (ICO). All altcoins are at risk of falling during the bear market.
But 80 - 95% of ICO's are too risky to diversify, some of them are scams, abandoned, unsuccessful and totally useless I'm not generalizing all the ICO out there cause there are legit with a potential to grow in the market when the coin and the products released, bitcoin and top altcoins are the best to include in your portfolio because they have already the capitalization, product, community and history throughout the crypto market though you still have to filter them out to pick the best altcoin.

In my opinion, while the price of ethereum is still low, it is time to buy and invest as much as possible. Because in the next few months the price of ethereum will rise significantly, the price of ethereum will go to the moon.

Continue to monitor the market situation, see the price graph, it is currently down, but slowly the graph will rise, and even can reach its peak price. Follow either Telegram or Twitter channels that inform price and price predictions as well as altcoin market circumstances. thank you

Firs of all, as the others said BTC and ETH are totally different. But, as I understood from the market right now there are decreases on the currencies. I am not sure but the value of US Dollars is going down also. But, there is no doubt that BTC will rise again in short time period.

Just always buy when the price of bitcoin is low and ethereum has a lot of good speculations about Putin's meeting with Vitalik so that will give ETH another pump but still it depends on Putin's interest because he might have interest to bitcoin also as he is just only trying to choose what suits his country when it comes to crypto.

Ethereum is falling more than than Bitcoin(look at the ETH/BTC rate) and there are lots of ICOs that will make Ether be dumped. I don't know if now is the right time to buy Ether, if your intention is short term profit or hedge against Bitcoin.

Thanks for your comment... I am not familiar with Ethereum's technical deficiencies and will have to educate myself on it. My impression is that Ethereum is the new "golden boy" in crypto. Will have to learn more
Ethereum isn't really technically deficient to Bitcoin except for centralisation from developers and the fact that huge amounts of ETH get locked in ICOs for a long time.

It's just not the "killer app" of blockchain technology.  The fees are pretty damn high right now, and who knows what will happen when ETH gets some serious pressure from more transactions.

I would stick to Bitcoin until there's a clear winner.  The "DAG" system is making headway, but we'll see if it's all just hot air (e.g. IOTA which makes the bold claim of having no fees).

Bitcoin is what all the alts are traded against.  It won't necessarily be dominant forever but for now I don't see a point in other things growing.

Ethereum is a semi-centralized system, so it's not a Bitcoin replacement. It also has bigger scaling problems than bitcoin. Casper has been labelled as vaporware by experts on the field. I wouldn't trust Ethereum at least long term.

Litecoin seems to be the only coin that at least technically could be called a reasonable Bitcoin replacement while the situation resolves.
