How accurate is your estimation compared to available data from https://mempool.space/? cuz estimatesmartfee command looks at the rate of transaction fees it receives in your node mempool and then based on that, estimation are made, but if your node is out of sync or there is a problem with it, it will be The estimates are inaccurate because fallback values may be used.

Update your bot to show average data from
 - https://mempool.space/docs/api/rest

I'd prefer to avoid external services.
why my node should go out of sync? I use it for other personal services (so I take care of it), my hardware il reliable (except for the UPS, I must replace it). my home internet connection is not the best in the world, but this would remain a problem because I run the Telegram bot from the same connection.

Moreover, these services might use different estimation algorithms from Bitcoin Core, I should do some research to understand which algorithm gives the best estimation

Is it legit?

I have heard of multiple cases
where people get viruses into their phones
or whatnot through telegram. Somehow, it’s
always telegram that seems to be the
problem. I always see it being the main cause of
most hacks from people I have heard stories about.
It’s better to be safe than sorry
Don't be misinformed, anyone can get malware on any of their device if the user itself doesn't understand what they are clicking or downloading either its not limited only to telegram, email it can be anywhere.

I've been using telegram for 5 years now yet never had any kind of malware both desktop and mobile.

To OP, can you tell your sources/API of where the recommended fees shown in the bot?

Damn, this is a thing in Telegram? How does it even work though? Do you like download some attachments on Telegram or is when you do other things because the only time that I believe that a malware or a virus is a possibility is through what I've mentioned which is the download of attachment files from an unknown sources, that's how it is in most cases and if there's no need to download anything on OP's program and it's just a bot that notifies you of price changes, it's probably all good, I'm not updated to how scammers in Telegram try to get into your phone or any devices so I'm not sure that you'd be totally safe. Regarding the notification thingie by OP, it's a really awesome project for you to do but I hope that you've got more features on it rather than just being a notifier because Coingecko already does this, you know what I'm saying?

This is a welcome development and you have already broken the ice challenge by bringing this up to offer to the people, I've not seen lately a bot por such developed software that could use telegram in updating on the bitcoin price or fee rates, however, i hope that you have taken time in looking more closely to some possible discrepancies that may create a difference gap between what you're giving from the one on the exchanges or other reputable platforms.

It's the same service but a subdomain. Tongue
TryNinja bot relies on mempool.space data. If @inaltoasinistra was able to create a bot that relies on jhoenicke.de or both of them, I think the data would be more accurate. In general, the beginner will not notice any fundamental differences, as both services are good.

Edit: I know it's a telegram link and we already have a similar notifier about fees using telegram check the link below
- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/telegram-bot-bitcoin-fees-fees-and-tx-tracker-5445635

I didn't know this bots, I googled before making mine and I found a couple solutions I didn't like

Also, op how often does the bot send updates on fee rates . ( I am asking about the time interval).

Thanks for your message Smiley
The bot checks every hour the feerate and send a message only if the value is the lowest or the highest of the 6 hours. The idea is avoiding to annoy the user and inform them only when the situation changes

There is also a bot called estimatesmartfee, those are potentially more dangerous. But joining a telegram channel? Well unless you distrust telegram itself. Oh yeah, you don't actually have to join the channel to view it, as long as you remember the name Cheesy

the bot publish messages to the channel. really Telegram bots could be dangerous? I thought that the only problem could be at privacy level (I won't give txids to BitcoinFeesAlert_bot)

Well you don't actually have to click the link, you can simply open telegram and search for estimatesmartfee
As far as i know, t.me is the official telegram link shortener/redirect web to telegram.

There is a "channel" called estimatesmartfee 20 and is showing things like this:

estimatesmartfee 20, [21/3/24 11:02 A. M.]
21.1 sat/vByte, the highest value in 6 hours

estimatesmartfee 20, [21/3/24 1:02 P. M.]
23.2 sat/vByte, the highest value in 6 hours

estimatesmartfee 20, [21/3/24 3:02 P. M.]
24.5 sat/vByte, the highest value in 6 hours

And its got a crowd of 3 people subscribed  Smiley

Or do you just post this for merits?

Nice initiative Op.
Anyways I have come to notice that a lot of active members spend a whole bunch of time on the forum surfing and engaging in discussions .now if you are very much active and make use of the Bitcointalk script and BPIP extension you will constantly get updates on both Bitcoin and Ethereum price at the top right corner. Plus the wall observer thread is always there with constant updates thanks to Chartbuddy.

As for fees , sincerely I hardly check the Mempool before I make decisions on the best fee to use ever since the creation of the Mempool Observer Topic thanks  to stompix and fee buddy.
Also, op how often does the bot send updates on fee rates . ( I am asking about the time interval).

Hello folks,
for personal use I developed a Telegram bot that notifies in a Telegram channel the changes of Bitcoin Core fee estimation.

I need it in order to use softwares with automatic fee selection: with this bot I know when I should use these softwares.

I track the output changes of the command
Code:
bitcoin-cli estimatesmartfee 20
.

It is designed to avoid too much notifications: it sends a message only when the current feerate is the best or the worst of the last 6 hours.

This is the channel
https://t.me/estimatesmartfee

Enjoy it
Thanks
