The Ubuntu font was developed as part of the Ubuntu Linux project: http://font.ubuntu.com/

Beautiful. Thanks. :-)

Actually, I think I just accidentally discovered it. It looks like it's the bold-italic variant of a Google webfont called Ubuntu:

I dunno, the font is pretty evocative for me. I definitely like it, at any rate. And it's not like we need a custom font. We just need a good, solid font. Helvetica gets used everywhere, but it still works for most people. (A list of logos that use Helvetica: http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/03/40-excellent-logos-created-with-helvetica/)

Edit:
Big corporations like Google for example create their own fonts so that nobody can truly copy them online/anywhere.

Actually, it may be less common than you think. Google, for example, is using a typeface created back in 1982.

What font is used in this graphic?

Thanks. :-)

No idea, but that should be another bounty... coming up with the official bitcoin font. That looks to me to be just a generic italicized font.
