I also started with Bitcoin For Dummies. But, with all honesty, almost of the things that you need to know are just few clicks away from you, now we have YouTube, and Google where we could search Blogs, Tutorial Sites, and etc. Learning is a continuous process, as what my boss used to tell me! Cheers!

I haven't come across any book yet that takes time to explain bitcoin but there are lots of sites online you get all the information you need apart from bitcointalk. You get lots of information here and also get in other bitcoin sites. Just play around the internet you surely get all you need...goodluck with that

The best video I've found for explaining the basics of how Bitcoin works is here.

As for the history, you could try taking some information straight from the source and having a look at satoshi's profile.

For information on how to start using BTC, try reading the sticked threads on the Beginners and Help board.

The reason I'm not recommending you any one book is because it's good to get information from a variety of different people. If there's just one person then it's likely to be written from a biased perspective that may influence you.
