1Dq, I'm super-impressed with this... love the vibe, the WIP photos, the perpective - and definitely feels alive with all the characters. Thank you for including Kialara, I had fun finding it.

And was stoked to learn this morning that ChiBitCTy picked one up for me!

Heya,

Glad to hear that from you sir!

Cheers.

I really can't wait to get mine. Anything from 1Dq is amazing to me so far, and I've had the original (jpg) artwork as my wallpaper on one of my monitors for like a couple years now.  Grin

Damn, what a true fan!  Cool

Thanks, I hope this one gets there (on desktop) too sometime!

There is indeed a lot to discover in there if you take a minute or 10!  Grin
Like for real this is damn true (language pardon  Cheesy) I'm a designer on this forum too and off the forum and the fact is what makes an art more interesting is detail. At first the art was nice to me because it was a painting and not a regular sketch. I made it my wallpaper and later on I happened to stumble across it on my phone and I viewed it for a couple of minutes and damn there was a hell lot of detail in it.

You really did good man truth be told this is a stunning piece of art. I intend on sending more than the merits I dropped but what can I do Roll Eyes I'm not a merit source and I'll definitely need these smerits for the end of year contests on my local board.  Before then please complete this statement; Grin

I am not an artist, and I cannot draw anything.
So, I admire the ability to imagine, conceive, design and execute these pieces of artwork.
I was also amazed by the amount of details you put in every inch of the canvas.
Well done 1Dq.

Privacy is solved as part of mutual business agreement - both parties respect this aspect.
I've so far shared with 50+ buyers and so far there have been no breaches.
Maybe I was lucky so far, but people around here (/Collectibles) seem like solid, trustworthy folks.

That's good to know, and I think people often wonder how to buy something physical while remaining as anonymous as possible. In any case, it's good that you haven't had any problems so far, I hope it will be like that in the future.

~snip~
Anyway the biggest issue with original art on the large side is transport, the ideal scenario is to collect
in person I would think.

That's something I would be personally concerned about if I were to buy something like this piece of art. I had some bad experiences with various deliveries because some packages arrived in such bad condition that I had to refuse to take them - which is not a problem if it is something that is replaceable.

I have no doubt that the OP already knows very well how to package the parcel properly, but the risk of damage is always there - not to mention the theft of the parcel by the postal workers.

I get your concern and that's why I use trusted services and pack the hell out of my artworks.

No thefts yet to the best of my knowledge, but again that's exactly what should be expected.

I have no doubt that there is much to discover in the picture if you look closely and examine every detail. Many thanks to the author who created such a wonderful masterpiece. There hasn't been anything like this on the forum for a long time. It's truly an impressive piece of work. I hope that we will all see a sequel very soon.

Thank you, and I think everyone, including me is looking forward to a sequel.

btw...

As for everything that could be and isn't - there's going to be more opportunities to visualize and upgrade in the future.

If not sooner, then let's make another, even crazier one for the 20th anniversary!

It was a plan to chain these into a bigger picture anyway, just like the Bitcoin blockchain teaches us.

Cheers.

And I liked the cyberpunk style. I love this direction. Indeed, the work turned out to be simply evil and impressive. Upon closer examination, you can see a lot of what is not available at a glance. Quite a detailed work of art. There is no other way to say it in this case. Everything is great. Of course, there was a lot more that could have been conveyed, but the picture is not elastic. The key aspects are conveyed and this makes the work unique.

P.S.
It's time for the Bitcointalk administration to think about publishing their own art magazine.

I think 0.02BTC might be just be high enough that anyone interested might rather wait for the last minute and then bid.

0.02 BTC doesn't seem like much if we look just in BTC, but at a time when the price is going up like this, most people probably perceive the price in fiat currencies and wonder how much that 0.02 will be worth in a week or a month. In any case, we will see if someone will want the artwork badly enough to pay the asking price for it.

Of course there is also the problem of privacy, few will agree to give their personal data - unless you already have experience with sending packages to a PO Box or something similar?

Quote
I'll also say I'm pretty confident this particular piece will gain in value over time and I've no problem hodling on to it for a year or two.  Cool

Why not - art usually gains in value over time, like BTC and good wine Wink

Here in the collectibles board we buy and sell items regularly and share our private names and addresses
with other users, all of whom are regularly buying/selling and giving their names and addresses -privately-
[I would hope that everyone has deleted/erased those details?] Personally I have dealt with Cyrus, minerjones,
MoparMiningLLC, tweetious, owlcatz and others and always have to ask for their addresses over and over
because I dont keep them.

Anyway the biggest issue with original art on the large side is transport, the ideal scenario is to collect

As an aside -  with this project from 1dq there has been more traffic through the collectibles board
which is all good, I wonder how many are tempted to stick around and see what treasures there is
on offer?

I am a reborn Bitcoin artist, and I’m from Planet Earth, nothing to hide.
I also ship large artworks, usually to members of a trusted community I’ve built over time. If trust is an issue, you can use an escrow service to handle the transaction, but you need to trust the escrow not to reveal your address. So far, this system has worked fine.

I once had a collector who was extremely private, and shipping to him wasn’t an option due to his concerns about privacy, he didn’t want anyone tracking postboxes, regions, or anything like that. In the end, he gifted the artwork instead.

Another option is to attend the conferences where I showcase my art.
You can purchase directly there without sharing any personal details. And don’t worry, my memory isn’t the best after my brain surgery, so I tend to forget things anyway! The only exception might be if I do a quick sketch of you for my records. 😊

An impressive piece of art that most would certainly like to have on their wall (myself included). I've never participated in such auctions, but from what I see the starting price is 0.02 BTC - has no one bid anything yet or are there any private bids?

Thank you sir!

As far as the canvas auction is concerned, I didn't get any bids yet.

I think 0.02BTC might be just be high enough that anyone interested might rather wait for the last minute and then bid.

Sometimes I get private offers right after the auction ends.

Can't say much but this is a beautiful piece of art, I'm not good at making art like this but I can enjoy your art, I see you have a great talent as an art maker and I can see it's not an easy job but it seems interesting if this art is made into an NFT  Wink

I hadn't considered turning it into NFT yet, actually I'm staying away from NFT currently.

Is there a good argument to do it?

Do you think it would be possible to use this version that joker_josue uploaded:

And make a layer with explanations on top of it somehow?

I imagine it's possible. I know joker_josue is fixing the hosting issues but he'll be able to answer if we can upload and even bigger (zoomable anyway) I guess SVG/PNG version so we don't lose pixels. I could also help out with the writeup of the details if you guys need that.

I think some people see cryptic art or details as part of the fun but there are guys like me who also prefer to not put my eyes to work Wink

That sounds good - I can send all descriptions with locations and everything to somebody who can structure it properly.

I'd love to see this be done now that I imagine it, it could be interesting to members for a long time.

I can do that if you want!
It would be a very interesting project.

I can create a page, where it is easy for visitors to enlarge and navigate the image, creating reference points where more details can be obtained about that aspect of the painting.

I'll be able to deal with that soon. If you want me to move forward with the idea.

If it's not too much work on your part we can do this when you say the word!

You know where to find me haha.

I thought that the digital art was so good, never had I expected it to be upped in terms of quality when you do a real painting, good job and it's such an awesome thing that people have collaborated to help realize this artwork and such a good thing that the community is fully supporting you with this kind of endeavor, I hope that this project will open you to more customers and friends in the near future. Awesome work, imagine if this will be expanded but to the size of large paintings like The Spoliarium or maybe even create a mural like the one in Sistine Chapel's Ceiling. Are there any plans to auction the painting?

Thank you!

And yes, the original canvas is being auctioned here:

Maybe someone could take this design and make something proper with it, I'm just a artist, not a font designer.

If you were interested in that, we could explore that idea.
I had to start by drawing all the letters of the alphabet, as well as numbers and symbols. It was almost like looking at your PC keyboard and drawing all the "keys".

I would hope someone else could do the job actually, as I'm sure someone would do a better and quicker job at it.

I'm also pretty busy on multiple fronts and I rather wouldn't open another right now for my health's sake haha

I like that you mentioned our Sportsbet competition and BSFL logos, I made many of them in last few seasons.
1Dq do I see correctly or you created special typeface font just for this purpose? I love it Smiley

Thank you!

I did design a typeface for this purpose.
There was one similar used for a previous painting this year, but that one was a bit improvised.

The one I got to see was the Bitcoin logo, I really like the look of this drawing. I love this great design work that has captured my mind, but the most reflected is the bright color that I think every person will be bound to love.

Very cool representation of digital v canvas. I initially much preferred the canvas version but something about the brighter colours that make some of the details pop out (not superior, just different to the physical version that almost forces you to explore the details) grows on you.

I would, with the eventual buyer's consent (of course someone will buy it!) of course, create an accompanying online version, fully zoomable, with all details explained, cryptic or obvious.

Great work, once more. This forum is well and truly alive.

Good idea.

I'm using a shitty keyboard that won't let me type an exclamation point, else I would probably use a dozen of them in praising your artwork.  The final print looks freaking amazing, and I'm sorely tempted to buy one of the limited edition prints--I'll have to give that some thought.

Just wanted to give you props for the incredible job you did, not only with the artwork itself but the detail and all of the thought you must have put into it.  I especially like how the various sections of the forum are shown, and the swarm of newcomers.....and much, much more.  Great job, 1Dq.

If ever there were some form of art that reflected opinions of those most recognised, and events most recognised, entities most contributing, on the forum, it'll be this one. Abso brilliant. I've stopped collecting items like these for myself, but happy to keep buying them as gifts to others, so popped in my order.

If not for you having to show the process, I almost thought that was some digital art on display but nope, you did that on hand, paint drawn on canvas and it looks this good, mehn your talented. This has got to add to some place real significant, maybe as some of the collectibles on the forum you know.

This makes me to ask,
Do we have something of this nature to commensurate every anniversary?

I see this to be some master piece, well done.

This is phenomenal, 1Dq!

I remember commenting on one of your threads where you asked a few questions and I was very happy and pumped up to be a part of it. Today when I see the final version of the artwork, I'm lost of words for your talent and creativity.

You did a great job, buddy. Congratulations to you.  Smiley

That sportsbet.io logo really stands out.
Apart from that, I noticed some other logos, like ChipMixer and another bitcoin mixer, though I can't recall the name (something whirl in name I guess). I think the MetaMask logo is there too, if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway this is so beautiful. Congrats!

Congratulations 1Dq once again.

As soon as I have some time and calm, I promise to analyze the painting, just like I did with the digital work.
You know I'm no critic or expert. But, I think it will be cool.  Wink

This looks freaking epic. Am a fan of Cyberpunk 2077 and this artwork gives me similar vibes where Bitcoin is the government itself and the masses are basically represented by Bitcointalk.

The night time blue variant is my favourite one among them. Looking forward to your future projects op. Also, Bitcointalk rules!

Bitcoin Artist
This is the presentation of the artwork BITCOIN FORUM METAVERSE created in 2024 by the community and for the community of this great board.

>> curated by 1Dq <<

Dear member of this amazing place - The Bitcoin Forum!

I'm 1Dq, this forum’s dedicated Bitcoin artist that previously made these:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/gallery-of-original-artworks-by-1dq-5216743

Besides creating quality Bitcoin-related art I also like working with different kinds of people.
In 2019 I started the first BTCtalk’s collective project in which we put our minds and efforts together and (continuing in 2024) created Bitcollector.
It was all about gathering Bitcoin physical artifacts and artworks and about the person collecting them.
The project showed us that we can cooperate well and have fun discussions that produce a quality product.

That was my fuel to start the next, bigger and more ambitious project.
I remembered that this year was the 15th anniversary of BTCtalk and that instantly sparked the idea.

In the previous (Bitcollector) thread in Collectibles board, I proposed to lead the next project and invited everybody to join.
It was about taking my digital artwork that I created for BTCtalk’s 10th anniversary artwork competition and rebuild it into a masterpiece!
I used this words I still stand by:

This board has not gotten enough credit for all it has contributed, developed, researched, educated and otherwise done for everybody it connects.
I propose to make a visual representation of everything it means to us in the form of a big, detailed painting.
It will serve as a monument in this time and can help people identify, glorify, connect and celebrate this place we are all co-creating every day.
This artwork can be used for any of BTCtalk’s 15th Anniversary events!

________________________________

I originally envisioned the Bitcoin forum as a futuristic world that is under permanent construction.
In the background is the huge tower that stretches towards the skies and has a big BTC on its side.
Below it are the (robot) inhabitants, doing their forumy things, from discussing, trading, educating, developing, collecting…
And in the bottom right was the chief Theymos, overlooking things.

This was the the original artwork:

10 Years of Constructing the Future, 2019, Photoshop, max res 3000x4000pix

I proposed to take on this project and divided its realization into 5 phases:

PHASE 1 (July, August): Brainstorming all kinds of different ideas, from conceptual, to details, promotion, title, style...

PHASE 2 (late July, August): I start visualizing our rough concept through one or more digital sketches.
We evaluate these together until we come to a consensus for how we'd like the finished artwork to appear.

PHASE 3 (September, October): I work on the actual artwork, updating you regularly. We promote the project to all interested, especially on Btctalk.
Changes might still be made to final artwork.

PHASE 4 (October, November): The finished artwork and prints are put on sale/auctions/raffles and/or other means of distribution for compensation.

PHASE 5 (November, December): Final act of the project when we evaluate it and debate developing future projects.

I offered to create a acrylic painting on canvas from which prints would be created.
Besides that a free downloadable high-resolution scan would also be made available and now it is below!

Brainstorming immediately took off for me and 44 other members.

A lot of suggestions were discussed, combined and incorporated into our living concept.
My job was to first curate the discussion and then visualize what we have brainstormed.

I proposed everybody ask themselves questions such as:

What got me on this board and why I stayed here?
What do I love most about it?
What have I learned here?
How do I visualize my existence here?
What does this forum remind me of?
What are the most meaningful facts about BTCtalk?
Is there anything I don’t like here and what is it?
What question do I want to ask everybody here?

Anyone was welcome to join simply by contributing something useful in one of two threads (one in "Meta" and one in "Collectibles" or privately via DM.

I granted merit to any useful comments which was also the most important measurement for including the most deserved members in the artwork code as the final step of painting.

Users diligently invited their mates to the project in several Local boards and updated its development.
Theymos also put a link in the news, which boosted its popularity substantially.

I immediately began a new digital artwork as sketch for the upcoming canvas and updated it regularly.

Final version of the digital sketch of the Bitcoin Forum Metaverse:

A lot of details were openly discussed and polished to get to this point, but we got there.

It all went according to plan and I soon after began painting on canvas.

The process of painting took another seven weeks to complete.

I posted the scanned version of the final painting on October 30th.

I calculated I spent around 320 hours on the project, from writing posts, sketching, painting, scanning and all other minor tasks.  Cool

It was ambitious, big, sometimes tough and I'm very proud of the result!

And I'm also very grateful to everybody that contributed to the project in any way - THANK YOU ALL!

Finally, here's the finished artwork:

»Bitcoin Forum Metaverse«, 2024, Acrylics on Canvas, 60x80cm/22,6″x31,4″

Slightly tilted canvas

The mass of activity and flavor in the center

Bottom left with the Collectibles board, trash pile and incoming newbies

Bottom right with Satoshi, Sirius and Theymos in charge and some newbie members trying to peek in on them

+ A work in progress collage

Here's a short summary to help explore the artwork:

The color scheme rougly uses this logic:
Blue = Wisdom, Green = Positive/Trust, Red = Negative/Alert, Orange = Bitcoin symbol

Starting in the bottom right you see Satoshi, Sirius and Theymos overlooking the place.
Their color is blue, which represents wisdom and flows from them to other parts of the metaverse.

Above them is the slightly scrambled list of most deserved board members and above that unique codes connecting this artwork to previous and following ones.
The main code in utmost top right consists of project number, abbreviated names of 21 most deserved members of the project, date, BTC block number and icons of this and the previous artwork.

In the middle there is the general mix of everything from incoming newbies, spammers, contests, charity auctions, red flag fights, service promotion and more.

Above the crowd is the towering shape of the BTC and "15 YEARS", with its mining/halving column on the right and the much appreciated Local boards on the left.

Left of the center is the Collectibles corner, represented by [M]inerjones, [C]ygan, [K]rogothmanhattan and [Cyrus] on their right overlooking things.

On the far left, furthest from the blue is the red area, with scammer and other trash on the bottom being disposed of and further up shady characters doing shady business.

You can also find the Wall observer, Foxpup cycling, hints of BSFL logos, BPIP visual design, various physical coin manufacturers, "shitcoins", visualized merit transaction and many hidden details...

On the bottom you can see newbies arriving via warp-zones from various channels, like Reddit, recommendations, X and some trying to sneak back in from being banned.

Enjoy exploring the artwork and finding some details I left out!
