Start paying people with bitcoins, even when they don't use bitcoins yet, that's gonna be viral.

See post #3 in my thread for an explanation:

we should place the " What is bitcoin " video, on youtube in searches it doesn't belong ,so we get some random people to see bitcoin

That would be spam and do harm instead...

Or why not sell secondhand things and write: Only selling it for bitcoins.

You can also tell your friends that if they sell something, they can ask to be paid in bitcoins in the sales info.

Would people do this with gold, silver, MoneyBookers funds or PayPal?

Viral marketing is ok, but don't make Bitcoin a clown; The odd man out. It will make the entire project seem like a frat joke.

A well thought out well put together viral marketing plan could potentially launch bitcoin into mainstream.

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
Lets brainstorm something that could give millions of views on youtube almost free, or something that will make people
badly want bitcoins.

Some inspiration:

A blog,

What people do for bitcoins challenge.

The person who sends the funniest and craziest video, voted and selected each month wins X bitcoins.

This could give videos of people running naked, painting bitcoin graffiti? Making bitcoin tatoo, things that perhaps many people would read and watch about?

Or if someone has a company, and is wants to hire some person could have as a demand in the ad.

We will only pay in bitcoins.

This could also get picked up by media.
(I know there are coders who are willing to work for bitcoins, but an ad for a fulltime job, only paid in bitcoins could generate publicity.)

Or if we could get great deals but the deals are only if people pay for them in bitcoins.
This is something that the exchanges could do to promote bitcoins.

They could collaborate to have some deal of the week or something, selling something for a bargain.
(As a marketing expense)

Lets start the next internet trend, with expressions that stick like:

"If only it was a bitcoin instead"

"Thats not worth my bitcoins"

"Thats almost worth my bitcoins"

/When something is really good

"Whats the matter, out of bitcoins?"

or simply

"Out of bitcoins?"

/When someone is against something you say, mad or feeling bad or when one dont like something in chats etc.

I hope this thread gets worth your bitcoins.

"Or if we could get great deals but the deals are only if people pay for them in bitcoins."

I have the above idea in the works.

About your YouTube idea--I'm brainstormin' while typin' this so bare with me if I hesitate and say um a lot.

* YouTube Video Contest (they're all the rage): What Would You do to Win a Free Android Phone with a Preloaded Bitcoin Wallet containing 2 BTC?

* YouTube: What would you buy with Bitcoin? The best video (or most views) wins 2 BTC.

* YT: Why (and/or how) do you use Bitcoin? best wins 2 BTC

* YT: Bitcoin slogan contest. Let's make this one a 2.2 BTC prize

Any entrepreneur, worth their salt, could offer up these contests, paying the winner out of their pocket. For of all the videos submitted, all they need is one nugget (something they didn't think of) to propel their enterprise, along with Bitcoin, forward. In fact, in would only take one gem to spark-start an entrepreneur-want-to-be.

Now back to working on Project X (hmmm! I'm going to start referring to it as such till the day I release it into the wild).

Someone needs to release an amazing product many people need, but you can ONLY buy with bitcoin.
That would make great news I think. The inventor or company could claim anything they like, even marketing promotion and be truthful about it all.

Just a quick thought - video montage of things you can buy with one bitcoin.

Tagline "I'd buy that for a bitcoin."

Could catch someone's eye - include the link to commerce on the wiki, in addition to the newer sites that have sprung up.
