Reasons behind we even use gmail for bitcoin authentication along with mobile.
Without subscribing we even get plenty of marketing e-mails - I feel t's time we should be cautions to unsubscribe even such to get safe from hacking threats.
My recommendation would be to use a desktop wallet like Electrum. You won't have to worry about your Gmail or really any other online account being compromised because they will have nothing at all to do with your wallet. No amount of phishing emails you receive will be able to steal your Bitcoins either, for as long as you keep your private keys and seed private. You don't run the risk of logging into a phishing site as well, because your wallet is in your computer. Just make sure you download the correct software and you're good to go.
Or even better yet, get a Trezor and you're basically un-pwnable.
