do not create high expectations about this halving, with this pandemic one cannot expect large price increases. in short: this year is a great disaster for everyone and from what I see the situation is getting worse every day
This pandemic should be beneficial for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, try reading news about this on Google,
you will get something interesting about this crypto currency and pandemic , or you watch in youtube, many people have a information, this is time for Bitcoin Bullrun  Grin

I think what he is trying to say is that with this pandemic still around, there could be looming recession. And with that, people might sell their crypto asset to sit out and survived in this crisis. So this will be a bad news for crypto. However, it proves again that it is very resilience, we have survived the flash crashed and it seems as we approach the bitcoin halving, there could be some sort of bull run, which is very good news for us, specially holders.
I congratulate those of you who have been able to survive in the midst of this pandemic, and succeed in holding onto your crypto assets,
and finally you can benefit, but for people who need money to survive have to sell it, you have to understand their feelings friends, I understand that, the price has indeed been a temporary dump, and now it's recovery

That is true, as we can see bitcoin price is increasing although we are in pandemic situation also the economic in some countries are in bad situation. I'm never expected that bitcoin price will increase even I just have a prediction that the price will touch another all time low. The people will only believe to store their money in gold because it was considered as safe heaven place. But I think the people now have another place beside gold to store theie money when economic situation is bad, they will buy bitcoin.

Why no one pays so much attention to Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV halving? As they are forks, probability that Bitcoin will show same result is more than 0 Smiley

These two alts had halving recently. BCH made about 5% in price growth, BSV - ~15%. Miracle did not happen and they did not sky rocket. I have a feeling that same will be with Bitcoins halving. It will make a +10-15% growth, but sadly, after there will be a correction. I think that after halving the price would be around $8,500.
Because it never gives attention to the community and most especially from the investors.
These coins are just shit, clone from Bitcoin, nothing have to expect from them? Investors will rather choose Bitcoin even the price will drop because they know that Bitcoin can be trusted. We have come to this halving as a reward but somehow we couldn't expect and maybe we should not expect huge market pumps, maybe it was a miracle of we could see that. Therefore, we could also say that altcoins will look the same as what it has today...nothing new.

Once, bitcoin halving approaches and we see a rise in its price, altcoins are also going to increase in price as well. Coins like Ethereum, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic are going to ride up with the rise in Bitcoin but for newer altcoins price will not be affected much. It's best to invest in major altcoins if you are looking to make some profits out of this upcoming Bitcoin halving.
I agree with you. however, right now my heart is so easy to change. seeing the price of bitcoin go back down, made me a little disappointed. Well, I'm very enthusiastic about the development of bitcoin and altcoin this year, it's just that the current developments are developing at $ 6k and $ 7k. I think of a greater effect because halving is only a few weeks away.
You should have at least wait for the right time and waiting for that halving to happen is just the start of the waiting game of when would Bitcoin price starts to rise. At least give it a few months and you will see the real effect despite of what is happening around the world we will surely see the new ATH of Bitcoin by next year I assume. I kinda hope that most altcoins by that time should at least give a green signal so that we can really tell that we are really in a bullish market.

Containing this pandemic means creating a vaccine, and usually vaccine can be available for at least 1 year before it will be available for public use. But in this case, I guess scientist will do everything they can to provide a vaccine asap. While the market may not be directly affected by the virus, but It also made a slight damage since people would always choose fiat over cryptocurrency amidst the lockdown. Nevertheless, Bitcoin is still in a good figure these days.
That's exactly right, without vaccine we can never really stop it, we can try to only contain it and that is all we can do right now which is why there are lockdowns in many nations and billions of people are not going out of their homes. However I do not agree with the one year thing, that is only true when there is a new medicine for something that you are working on with no rush at all, if you want to make a new vaccine for liver diseases for example it can take from 1 year to even 5 years if you are not sure about some parts of it.

However this is a global pandemic that keeps people at home at all times which is why there must be some sort of rushed thing that people are working on to make it a lot more quicker than usual, in a year the vaccine will not be important because by the looks of it we will be economically screwed if its that late, I think 3-6 months is more likely with faster research.

Halving will take place as per schedule, and we can't tell what price it will bring.
As of now, we have only have less than a month - https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/bitcoin-clock/

It's less than a month but the price is still not bullish, supposedly, bitcoin should be bullish now but it's not so we can say that bitcoin halving is affected by the pandemic, at least for now, and if we think bitcoin will rise post halving, well, still not sure as we are not even sure how this covid-19 will be stop.
oil and the stock market are also experiencing bearish, this should be a new start for crypto currencies, especially Bitcoin can start a beautiful bullish, but everything is just bullshit ?, we still hear market sentiment that bitcoin will plunge into $ 5000 - $ 6000, terrible

We don't know "when" will it stop but I am sure there are those people that know how to contain and stop this in the long run.

The price is still at that stage but I think it is also affected by the pandemic. Right now, we just need to be vigilant to price changes as it might move suddenly before the halving. This should be favorable especially to those people that want to reinvest or invest in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is manipulative, as everything is based on calculation we can expect the halving to take place at the right time.
Bitcoin is more of a speculative asset, manipulative is on the hands of the investors especially the whales as they have some big stash to manipulate the price. Anytime when they move bitcoin, it could cause some significant changes in just a short time only.

Halving will take place as per schedule, and we can't tell what price it will bring.

The current situation is difficult to expect in a big way. Because the world economy is in big trouble. Investing in this situation will hinder it. But if you look at the last two halving, then you can understand how the market reacted. So everyone still expects good results. However, due to halving only Bitcoin can pump. I don't think altcoin will have any effect here, altcoin may be dump more due to current conditions. Because people are more interested in Bitcoin than altcoin.
This is true because if we do try to look up the economic situation globally then its really hard to believe that there would be
considerations for those investors to throw up some money into any stocks and other traditional investments how much more on crypto
where this one is always been out of the check list of most those traditional investors.

So i dont really expect much if there would be significant effect on this upcoming halving in both btc and some alts but i wont really
lose hope that effect would be seen on long term aspect but well anything has do risk.

Yeah. The bitcoin market may change due to halving. Because at the moment, Bitcoin is the main choice for those who are thinking of investing in Crypto. Like investing in Altcoin in this situation investors rarely have. No one want to take big risk in this situation.

When all markets are in trouble, crypto is in the same state. So it seems good to see what's happening on the market at the moment.

Bitcoin is manipulative, as everything is based on calculation we can expect the halving to take place at the right time. Till now with every halving there is mutual growth with altcoins. Possibly we can expect the same to take place with this year's halving. This is the right time to invest consider the time period available for the halving. As there is no big money flow this time people won't be investing big. Maybe the end of pandemic virus attack will make people invest widely.

When Bitcoin and other cryptos make new price discoveries, the same thing as in 2017 is going to happen. People will FOMO in when Bitcoin is making new all-time highs and they realize crypto is not going to zero.

Lol 2017 is much far from this Halving, because in 2017 there is no Pandemic like now so even how the Price Discovery that you are pointing still now enough for this one.

I mean after the pandemic is over and 1 year or so after the halving. 2021.

It is not easy to predict it now since there is a lot of financial problem with every country because of the corona virus.

The halving might become just a normal day for everyone and we as supporters will not feel the effects of it unlike the last halving.
Maybe there will be some out there who will have time to check but it wont be just the same.
The adaption is already here which just needs to be increased. But we may need for people to recover first.

I agree! But, don't forget during 2-3 months before the halving price was low compared to the other times. But a few months after halving the price pump should be happen.
However, during all the previous halving we never has a crisis like this. That's why I believe this halving is different to the others. Also regarding the world economy almost broken I think we can't have have any forecast at this moment of the time.

Just my own opinion about this one, its really hard to tell on what would be the situation in upcoming halving event and since we are still on a difficult situation
i dont really expect that much.

It's interesting to see what would be the market like at this situation, imagine halving in the time of pandemic, this is so far the biggest challenge Bitcoin will ever face, but I don;t see Bitcoin crashing after the halving now that the market is stabilizing, thanks to the good news we are receiving about the vaccine, time now is what the world needs to come out with an effective vaccine.
This kind of event is rarely to see and that is why many people are excited, majority of the people saying that the bitcoin will go up while the pandemic still on going on but I'm with the side of people who think that there will no significant effect especially to the price of bitcoin even the halving become successful. Halving is good but the thing is different because we experiencing global crisis and it has effect to the cryprocurrency market.

it's only a matter of time until this pandemic is finished. apart from that, I really appreciate that bitcoin really struggles at times like this. Well, many people still believe that an increase will occur and that the recovery is going to the present. I didn't know halving would have an effect on bitcoin and altcoin. but it looks like it's worth the wait.

There is nothing much reflection it will have at the price of Bitcoin if we should judge from the past. Most of the Bitcoin crazy upsurge always come after the halving and this year's own might not be exceptional.
at the moment, there doesn't seem to be an increase in the prices of bitcoin and altcoin, though halving will arrive soon. I think that bitcoin will become dominant again, but it looks like the altcoin movement is really following the current flow of bitcoin. I feel that the increase in bitcoin and altcoin that will occur later will not be the same as in 2019.
what is good about 2019 is that the 3rd quarter bull?this is not even close to the last halving effect of 2017 so why need to compare for 2019 when the last halving is what brings us good market pacing.
and maybe there are no Hype waiting this soon but at least by the last quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021 there will be another Bull coming.
There is now hype all over the internet and even here the forum where people are too excited and have a high expectation about the halving. We saw a lot of effect in the halving in this past years but the halving that will happen is different because we are still in the crisis where we can expect that the price of the bitcoin will decline more due to the high selling pressure in the market.

what is good about 2019 is that the 3rd quarter bull?this is not even close to the last halving effect of 2017 so why need to compare for 2019 when the last halving is what brings us good market pacing.
We can't expect a bull run this year, the pandemic maybe over but that's just because they found the cure, but the vaccine will not easily be develop, it will take time according to expert, therefore the world will not going to be back to normal easily.

During the last bull run, the economy is good, people are willing to invest that time, this year, I have a doubt.
The bull run will not happen due to the pandemic, there are many economies that are now start collapsing so the investors are  now withdrawing their money in order to protect the wealth. As long as the 200 moving average resists in the chart, expect more downtrend. If there will be a breakout in the 100 moving average then it only means that the market is healthy and the buyers are in control.

yeah, pandemic is not over, but there is plenty of fresh money in the market, due to money printing, and that money has to go somewhere, so this could cause a bull market after the pandemic sees end, of course no one can exactly tell when this is going to happen, but should be in next two months, due to hot weather and measures of social distancing, and this should boost economy, and money should spill in crypto as well, will see how this is going to turn out, even now some stocks are in plus, like Netflix, and Gold is up, so BTC and crypto should be as well

Hey members,

Wanna hear your thoughts about the upcoming BTC halving we will all see soon and the reflection it will have in both the BTC price and adoption, but also the major Altcoins.

Happy to hear ideas and speculations

Thanks

I don't think much for the incoming halving, instead, I was thinking a normal market flows as shown yesterday, today or even tomorrow. I'm thinking of a bullish market since last year but was really difficult to figure out the market and much difficult by now since we are in the pandemic. But I still believe that halving could something to give a positive result. Actually, the market is never been in the bullish during halving but that was noticed almost a year after and that would be exciting to see how this 2020 halving has to show in the 3rd and 4th quarter this year.

Isn't it all about the altcoin not dropping during that period as well? What happens is when bitcoin starts to go up, people move their money from the altcoins they have to bitcoin because that will make them a lot more money (at least what they think) since bitcoin is going up, so they do not want to miss the train and they actually go hop on that bandwagon. That is why many of the altcoins drop in price when bitcoin price goes up, people leaving their altcoins and moving to bitcoin.

So, if an altcoin manages to not get too many sells, or at least have the equal amount of buys, their price against bitcoin will stay the same, and since bitcoin goes up, that means the dollar value of the altcoins will go up automatically as well. That is just how it works in the markets.

Just hold and watch bitcoin will be skyrocket Cool
If afford to Hold then why not but the problem is if we are not ready for this market now specially those who are holding small amount and now in need of funds because of pandemic.

From all the various comments, it's obvious that people share very mixed opinions on the halving and the effect it could have on the could have on the market price amidst the current global crisis.
Whether you share bullish or bearish sentiments, the important factor is to manage your risk. It's a gamble really and no one can say for sure the direction the price would go.

Only invest what you can afford to lose.
While drawing friends and relatives to Bitcoin, always tell them the potential risk and reward and let them make their informed decision, do not make it for them.
Manage your portfolio; choose what coin to hold and which not to.

One thing for sure, the adoption will raise these days as people are looking for safer and long terms places to store their value
True, people have other things to worry about these days and it looks like the hype behind the halving event is lower than before. But, on the other side, everywhere there is a risk, you can find also good opportunity. World wide inflation is happening at this moment, governments are printing new money, to over come the economical disaster and in order to be able to support their people. So basically, every minute, your US Dollar bill, worth less, which means you better look for other ways to store your value – and that’s Crypto currencies can offer. Right after ( in some cases before ) people will look for their health, they will look for their money and its value, and Bitcoin like other Cryptos can be good solution. This is why I believe this time, after May 2020, we will see higher adoption of the Bitcoin as a coin and also as a concept, worldwide.

A big event indeed which pushed through bitcoins popularity for the last years.

But, there is a bigger picture that is happening outside. The CoronaVirus.
There is still a chance though that those who don't know what bitcoin is or any altcoins will be seen.

Let us make myself as an example. Using internet like 14 hours in seven days and I bet a lot of us are in the same position.
Maybe now is the best out of all. We might not see bitcoin having a large amount of buyer (since people are spending everyday without income) but the fact that they will see it might be a good opportunity for the future.

Let's not forget that many people have savings, savings in dollars, euros, and other fiat-currencies, and now
they are thinking what will happen with their savings after Coronavirus? Recession, inflation, or something third
that will affect their saving, it will lose value. In times like this one people who have something think about
long positions, to put the money that worth now in something that will survive the upcoming storm and maybe
even make some profit in long-term.
I got you there mate and yeah Seeing more searching about Bitcoin in Google?i think this is one way to tell that people now are looking for where they can invest their money to be safe from the effect of recession and this is Cryptocurrency(Bitcoin to be specific) so what do we need to prove?when the crypto market is the best option they have.so basically this is what the effect in good term of this pandemic.

I don't want to believe that halving will effect on altcoins rather than bitcoin.
If it will effect on bitcoin then eventually it will also effect on altcoins.
That was the trend int he past, bitcoin had a bull run, and altcoins unexpectedly rise, even higher than bitcoin.

Although there wouldn't huge pump due to current epidemic but I am positive with upcoming halving. Most likely we will encounter a good positive movement due to halving. Most peoples are curious about upcoming halving and trying to accumulate some bitcoin. In a short result little uptrend is expected. As we know when bitcoin show positive move some altcoins show positive move as well. We would see just normal positive move for bitcoin during halving just like before, no over pump expected for altcoins.
This remains to be seen, bitcoin is still not stable, sometimes it rises but failed to break some resistance and it will dump again.

To be honest there was huge potential pump if we weren't encountered global epidemic. But now really very difficult to predict about halving.

I also think of that, but this is not a guarantee anymore.

Not all altcoins are "waiting" if you ask me, I mean most of them are already building their own systems to go back up as well.
Look at ethereum, they weren't really expecting this corona virus thing, they started working on proof of stake transition before this pandemic started and they will probably continue with it anyway after this as well.

We were expecting 2021 for it anyway so I doubt it would postpone too much, it would probably be just a few months at most and they are probably working at home as well to build a great blockchain for it.

There are other altcoins who are making some changes as well, so all of them are not waiting, some of them do wait but with enough time they would recover anyway even without halving and see halving just as a push towards higher as a help but not a permanent solution.

Wanna hear your thoughts about the upcoming BTC halving we will all see soon and the reflection it will have in both the BTC price and adoption, but also the major Altcoins.

Happy to hear ideas and speculations

Thanks

Its hard to predict the future movements of bitcoin because of the situation of many markets but if we are going to study the result of previous halving, the price of bitcoin doesn’t pump right away it took a year or so to reach its highest price. There are so many speculation about the halving, a month to go and we will see what’s next for bitcoin.

In as much as many have speculated that this halving will pump the price of bitcoin, don't have too much expectation.
Too much expectation have led most cryptocurrency enthusiast into desperation of even borrowing to invest in Bitcoin. Expect the best but at the same time expect the worst.

As for altcoins, I don't think the halving will make much impact if the halving positively affect Bitcoin.

To some, altcoins are quite important because they have invested a lot in them and their value has dropped dramatically over the past 2-3 years. Now many are waiting for BTC halving as the only possible salvage solution and a big pump that will bring big profits for everyone.

It is likely that an increase in the BTC price will result in a price increase of altcoins, but don't bet on it with all you have. Last crypto winter clearly showed us that at least 90% of altcoins are completely worthless, that they have no purpose and that they represent a big investment risk.

Fore those who have hold such coins until now, only good advice is to hold them for future, it may be worth it - but if you have a plan to buy some cheap alts today, better invest that money in BTC or something else.

I don't expect that much.

Despite the halving affecting the price of Bitcoin in the past positively, I don't think it would greatly affect the price this year. From people having doubts about what will happen and also to what is happening these days. Still, let's just see what will be the effect of it in the future.

do not create high expectations about this halving, with this pandemic one cannot expect large price increases. in short: this year is a great disaster for everyone and from what I see the situation is getting worse every day
but it seems like so many people already think that the price of bitcoin and altcoin will go up high when the halving happens. however, that happened to halve in the previous year. Besides that, I also think that the price of crypto will go up, but I don't really think about the very high prices.

Many people expect that in the halving of bitcoin, the price will go up high, so that makes them buy more and more bitcoin. I hope that in the next halving, we will going to see the increase in the price like the previous year, and I think the chance to see that will happen is wide open. But unfortunately, we don't know when that will happen, and we only could wait for that time. Besides the halving, right now, we are still at the pandemic which we also don't know when it's over.

the halving will bring a lot of hype with itself as it has already started, and that will surely lead to an increased buy support but the real question is that how much power the panic and the manipulation against the rise is going to have during that time because the sum of these two opposing forces is the deciding factor of the final price that will be reached in the next ~40 days due to bitcoin halving hype.
I still can't speculate on this because in a pandemic like this there is still panic and also the necessities in life that many sell their assets before halving or even after, as well as manipulation the whales could control it because crypto market prices are often controlled by the pope I want the increase to be true so there is a lot of excitement when halving happens and the hype comes right.
But still thinking whether at all times the bitcoin crisis will experience a looming rise? or indeed more stable than the number 8k-7k?

Well, there are a lot of theoretical explanations about Bitcoin halving and both of us have different thoughts on it. Most of us using technical analysis and comparing the previous price of Bitcoin in the chart. On that basis, --I believed that the result of the entire crypto market is good. Because in my conclusion, if the first and second halving there is a successful growth of Bitcoin perhaps this third time will remain the same. Indeed, all of this is unpredictable but we will see to it.

By observing how world economic is doing right now and how crypto markets have reacted to past bitcoin halving, I like to list few things:
1. Halving may not give immediate hype into investors as people are not doing good in this corona outbreak time.
2. Bitcoin may take at least 3 to 6 months of time for a new ATH.
3. Most altocins may get delisted from exchanges. New altcoins may enter and do good due to manipulations.
4. Institutional funds may start inflow into bitcoins before halving too which may turn all our speculations upside down.
5. Institutional funds may trigger FOMO before halving but that FOMO may sustain for years as world wide investors may not get attractive investment opportunities other than cryptos.

I think the positive effect we will see is in terms of adoption more than price

Certainly the first will be the price, because if it comes to the fact that adoption increases, it will be because investors recognize Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a safe way to place funds. If investors consider Bitcoin to be safe, then for sure the first effect will be a price increase and then adoption.
Let's hope that printing money and inflation, which will definitely accelerate, will have such an impact on Bitcoin.

In few words, altcoins will follow bitcoin trending.
Now when it comes to bitcoin it is almost hard to predict what will happen in halving but having a steady or a small rise in the price before and during the halving will be good. If there is many people adopting bitcoin it will be great. Seeing the price skyrocketing few months after will be awesome!

Looking at the past bitcoin halving I guess a lot of us are expecting a positive effect on the market price of bitcoin.

For sure miners at going to get affected a lot of this event but thinking about it surely when the market price increases it might just be the same since it become harder to mine bitcoin and then the market price would increase also. Still, we cannot expect it already there are still a lot of things that could happen in the market price so we better be prepared either way we cannot predict accurately what could happen it might dump in the first week and increases after a month we just don't know.

When we have a look on the past two halvings it looks like this time the price will go beyond 10k this is my personal opinion, because we are already struggling in COVID-19 as situation is worsening everyday daily life has been badly affected and people are ready to sell their asset to survive.
Those are pretty much my thoughts--bitcoin's price progress has been hampered severely by the outbreak, and I doubt the halving is going to have a major effect this time.  I've also always had the opinion that halvings are priced in well ahead of time, though I'm not entirely confident that's true.

In any case, I'm hoping the halving does have some sort of positive effect.  And someone mentioned all this free, printed money that's being thrown around, and usually when that happens (or there's very low interest rates), asset prices skyrocket.  In the long-term it isn't a good thing, but in the short-term it could make people a lot of money if bitcoin goes up.  We'll see.

Simple put, if your intention to make this thread for your income then you can easily buy bitcoin right now.

As for your analysis you can see its history. I mean bitcoin halving has been held for twice i.e at 2013 and 2017 ago, you can see the price movement of them before halving event happened.

most people in crypto are anticipating the price increase due to halving.

but we must take a step back and think- if the price tanks (because of covid-19 or any other reasons) when halving is done, what will happen?

the answer is clear- the price will plunge if that happens.

I choose to stay side-lined for now.

I was skeptical but i see that there is a strong anti-panic approach that will get stronger by the time halving happens. 30 days from now, things would get clear and certain normal activities would begin to take place again. People will realize that we have to trudge along while taking precautions and that this is the new normal. Hopefully, testing would be accessible enough for anyone with symptoms to be quickly isolated with contact tracing.

In 30 days, when all this situation is back to normalization, bitcoin halving would possibly be one of the few good news out there. This can have a potential positive affect rather than the "people selling everything to hunker down in their bunker" scenario. At such low prices, and just before the halving, this is one of the best times to invest in bitcoin.

because we are already struggling in COVID-19 as situation is worsening everyday daily life has been badly affected and people are ready to sell their asset to survive.

This is key factor in this halving, which was not the case last two times.
People are selling assets, true, and from the other side, people keep their cash and waiting to see how it goes toward end of 2020, so maybe not much free to invest in Crypto ( unless they are into it already ... ) anyway lots of parameters and no one can say where it will go this time, we will hope for the best to come

Remember this Halving is coming right when governments around the world are printing FIAT which will cause Inflation like lego effect.
And therefore it may cause more adoption funnels and much more mainstream acceptance, and in this case, price will also go up

That is why this moment is so special for cryptocurrencies and at the same time so unpredictable.
We have already seen what happened on the cryptocurrency market after the first signs of the global economy crisis showed up. Instead of increasing the BTC price, we had a huge drop.
Of course, it is logical that printing money around the world will boost inflation, which should increase cryptocurrency prices. However, if investors recognize cryptocurrencies as part of the global market and begin to withdraw from investment, unfortunately we can observe drop in cryptocurrency prices.
Personally, I hope that people will understand what the real value of cryptocurrencies is and for many people crypto will be a salvation from the loss of value of money.

If the halving of Bitcoin reward in the days to come will have an effect to the price, it will be within Bitcoin only. I don't think the prices of the altcoins will be affected. Perhaps, if there will be a dump in the price of Bitcoin and the crypto investors would make the best of their investment, there might be some altcoin dumping that follows in order for them to make use of the cheap Bitcoin price.

The key factor is maximum number of European people have been affected where you can find more investors so it's pretty hard to predict the market right now, at the same time altcoins price will be dependent on BTC price without any doubt.

Wanna hear your thoughts about the upcoming BTC halving we will all see soon and the reflection it will have in both the BTC price and adoption.

Halving will reduce pressure on supply. That is all. For price to increase you need increased or at least same demand. With a huge recession that is hard to expect. Just look what is happening with small business in China after 3 months of lock down. Expect the same in Europe and USA 2 months from now.
