Looking at the steady price i do not foresee any crash in the coming weeks,it is still soaring high and we might have seen the price crashing down in the past but things have changed a lot from that situation, with every price dip there are more buyers and so you wont see that big of a fall at this phase.

I am really good at forecasting in traditional investment
But crypto is a lot difficult to do

I'm into trading stocks and yes, crypto is a lot different and hard to predict. Crypto is really more of a speculative market and one negative news will have a big impact to the market.

Totally agreed, the market landscape has change now. You won't see any big market crash anymore as compared a few years ago. Investors are really quick in putting a lot of orders when they see that the price is going down. I speculate than maybe 10% dip is already huge for some to really enter the market market. And there are a lot still waiting from the outside willing to put a lot of cash into the ecosystem. So I doubt that there will be a crash coming soon.

Only a newbie who is just coming fresh into bitcoin and not only the forum, should be asked to prepare for a crash but unfortunately several people who been long enough and even aware display such level of ignorance. Everyday, I live with the possibility that a crash might happen and that's exactly what everyone should do and be prepared everyday and with that, you won't need to be notified of any preparation.

Risk of losing 50% vs today (still on profit territory for most?)

vs.

Chances of getting a x10 to x50 (balls of steel required)

-> Choose your camp...
(Alts are proably a good way to hedge your game)
I would probably go for (balls of steel required)  Grin Since im a hodler then selling my bitcoin on any pricepoints wont be possible as of now unless if i see soaring prices already on bitcoin. It doesnt stop to amaze us anytime on the potential peak prices that it do gives this is why i do really believe on this coin no matter what happen im still accumulating coins as many as i can and at the same time i do make hedging on altcoin to make more side income.

I highly doubt that alts are a good hedge. Most are heavily correlated to the BTC price.
This is especially true for all of the more than 1000 altcoins, who are not even traded
for fiat directly and are exclusively traded against Bitcoin.

If BTC would crash tomorrow, you would see a bloodbath in altcoins as well.

A better hedge might be something else than fiat or cryptocurrency (precious metals, real estate, stocks...).
Even the top ones like ETH tends to follow variations of Bitcoin market. Altcoin market depend more than what we think, on Bitcoin. Added to that Altcoins are quite risky a bet. Many have encountered loss in Altcoin trading because of the decentralized and unregulated nature of the market. Many things that are considered illegal in centralized and regulated market(Forex and stock market) are prevalent in Altcoin market(pumps and dumps being the major). It is really hard to predict market and hence, becomes the reason for loss. Bitcoin on other hand is the best investment in terms of risks and returns.

As someone who bought at the "peak" in 2013 and should of sold out when BTC was at $1500 and "had a chance to get my money back"  YAAA I am holding.  Is BTC $5,200.00 Canadian?  Oooh why yes yes it is.
WITH THAT SAID.. if you think this shit is going straight to $500,000.00 and no dips in between.. get out now.  There is a high chance we dip back down to $1-2000 for years.

For those who are familiar with bitcoin, of course they are already ready for the crash and some doesn't even feel threatened about the crash because it is already expected to happen. Those who may be panicking would most likely be new to the crytoworld. But for me, I'm always ready whatever crash that comes along the way.

What crash, why do you people make panic again? This is really annoying me. Some correction in price happens and new dramatic posts appear on forum instantly. If you are new in bitcoin just inform yourself and research some information and analysis from the past, you will learn a lot. Just keep calm, price is on the way up again.

The price is already climbing again on his way to $5,000 mark

Well it's climbing to the $4300 point, where it faces some resistance. I think people are holding off till segwit is activated, and then they'll wait a few days to see if it is being used.

The lower it goes the longer it will take to go back up though. Also if people are fearful enough of Bitcoin then it would collapse due to no practical use. For example, if I had all the money in the world it would be useless. Since I'm the only one who has it, everyone else just neglects the system and uses something else.
I agree that the longer it takes that the lower it goes, the longer it takes to go back up but I wonder if bitcoin will ever go that low again? I think the lowest possible price for now when price really crashed as expected is just sub 1000$ or near 800$ no more, no less. If it will go down more, I am sure it will be pretty devastating for bitcoin but it will go back up again to 800$ since japan legalized bitcoin usage so it has real world use nowadays.

Listen to this guy please, because we need more people to panic for the price to go much lower. The people who has been around for a long time, know what this means : Cheap Cheap Cheap Coins !!!!

The lower it goes, the more we can buy and the bigger our profits are when it goes up again. A mini dump/crash like this, usually indicate that a breakout is around the corner. This dump is not backed by any significant event, so it is pure market manipulation. < Sharks playing with the markets >

Btc did not reached any new heights today!! what you are talking about !!! it should pass $4380+ to say it reached new heights . which it didn't .
The only point to cashout to is $4500 maybe even $5000 and the cashout is only to buy cheaper to make more money but if BTC is going down no one in the world can convince me to sell because I simply know for fact it will bounce back as it always do .

Actually, the initial post was referring to the dip we saw hours ago. (Following the $4,4k rally)

Anyway... with such title, I am sure we can revive this thread every time we reach new heights or at every following  dip...

That's what we called spirit! Some are just speculating so that they can also get money from putting down bitcoin's name though they don't even know the future of it. The point here is that maybe they've lost a lot of money when they made a wrong decision in selling or in trading. The mere fact that it makes them frustrated and  having  emotional instability. I definitely agree that it will bounce back as always. Through the years, the situation is just normal for us members and who are willing to wait patiently on something that is to testify if you are truly consistent of your loyalty being a bitcoiner. So to those speculators, don't make yourself welcome in here if you can't control your emotion.

It's temporary, like the other crashes that happened in the past. You can always refer to the historical price of bitcoins and see for yourself that this is a normal occurrence and every after crashes you would see it boom again and reach new heights. That has been how bitcoins traded before and that will happen again. Just wait and see.
Nothing new in the history of bitcoins! It has been happening since the birth of bitcoins and after the dump, the price will reach new heights. If some people are afraid of loss, then they can sell out their bitcoins but I would like to stick with my ones. Actually, I can buy more bitcoins now. Yipee!!

I am always ready for the possible crash in bitcoin and i am not worry if there will be a crash because that is only a temporary situation in bitcoin and i am always for long term investment. If the crash will continue then i will just take advantage of it and buy a lot of cheaper bitcoins and add them to my hardware wallet for long term holding. By the way, i bought my bitcoins from the crash around 2,000 so i am not worried.

Fortunately, the Bitcoin community has a sizable part which have this conviction in mind. They don't really care if Bitcoin can go down as LOW AS ZERO because it could mean a bright opportunity to buy more Bitcoin. This is the big reason why there would be no bubbles with Bitcoin as there will always be corrections in price from time to time. This current dip is quite expected and soon Bitcoin can be back surging again. It happened in the past, it is happening right now and it can also happen in the future.

Bitcoin Cash is totally different kind of animal - so far it is a purely speculative coin with no real-life usage.
From what I know most of merchants and services which accept Bitcoin is not accepting Bitcoin cash.
BTC price started a downside correction from $900. The Price moved down and not is traded for ~$700
I think it we will have to wait a bit longer for BTC to break $1000 level.

This is now the perfect opportunity to enter the market again. I mean for new investors as well, who are just lurking at the background and waiting for the moment. I think this is it. I'm also buying at this dip as I believed that bitcoin can go places in the near future.

From my perspective, selling your bitcoins now is actually not a great idea, despite the value of bitcoin going down but this doesn't mean that you should panic and rush into selling your bitcoin. The value will always go up and down, that is how the market works. Besides, bitcoin has already proven that it has the potential of going further than this. Those who are cashing out now should think carefully about their decision.

Well, we  can't blame for those who are cashing it out right now. They should have cash it when $4500 but they didn't because they think that bitcoin can get to $5000. But with the panic today and the FUD waves coming along, those have no choice but to sell. But I'm pretty sure that bitcoin will recover soon and will hit $5000.

Yes, bitcoin lost couple hundreds of dollar during the day and gone under 4000$ point. But why should it be the reason for panic making with all this pictures, that ,actually, make scare only some newbies, who expect bull run of the price for bitcoin? I don't plan to even move from such kind of news. I am long term investor and I spend the biggest part of my coins for gambling, where the price in dollars doesn't play a role.

Look at BTC potential market and market share today, and make your own estimation of market share in coming years, and a crash? Really? It's just some adjustment.

If you speculate the "crash" given that you are sure of yourself, it can be:
- You either benefit from it IF you can buy at the bottom and sell at the new top;
- Or you miss the train;

Risk-reward ratio is not interesting enough for me at least, so I hodl.

Crash? Looks like an inevitable and more or less expected correction after such rise. Month ago there was another 'crash' when the price of bitcoin was half the current levels. There are no significant negative events, so I expect bitcoin to continue the upward trend.

Crash? Sell all your bitcoin??? Zooming out, just looks like a healthy dump to me. There shall be no bitcoins being sold at this computer. If you can't even handle a small dump like this without getting emotional and posting pictures, I highly recommend you stop looking at the price chart at all. This is what's called an emotional trader.

13% decrease is not yet considered a crash, there are more moments in Bitcoin price history that BTC price dropped more than 20% in a day but it was able to recover in 24-48 hours. This kind of drop in price or correction in BTC price is normal and should not be an issue. What you should look into or prepare is how to handle your emotions if you will jump ship or hodl.

Crash? I don't think so. It was very natural, I haven't see it unusual. Bitcoin value will skyrocket for 2 to 3 consecutive weeks and eventually will go lower for a few days.

The best thing with bitcoin, the recovery was very quick before you notice.

Oh, you've been here since May...that explains it.

I don't mean anything negative by that. The entire life of Bitcoin has been big ups followed by significant downs followed big ups. Sometimes it takes longer stretches than others to get that follow up "big up" but it comes. And lately, like since January the significant downs are followed by an immediate reassuring bounce. It's reassuring because it represents that support for Bitcoin exists, especially when there's a discount on price!

Maybe a better question is - are you ready?

bitcoin crashing, this is not a new thing, bitcoin had its ups and downs, but still bitcoin has proven itself to be powerful, though it is not yet stable and hasn't reached yet it highest value, that being predicted over the next years or decades. If bitcoin would have crashed, China, Russia, Sokor, Japan, would have lost a lot of their investments, and I think, that those countries are already considered more powerful than America and much more advanced when it comes to technology, they will not let their investments go down the drain, with those countries backing up bitcoin, and other countries will soon to follow. I see that this time, bitcoin's price will just be lower, but not that low, and during that time, many investors will buy back or buy new bitcoins for them, in turn, the value of bitcoin will rise to a new high again, and probably it will go on and though there are a lot of altcoins out there, bitcoin still is much better, having the same traits of being a cryptocurrency like other altcoins, but the difference is bitcoin is much more accepted than others and bitcoin will still prove itself to more dominant than ever, there's a small chance of the bitcoin crash, just having a lowered value, then gaining back its strength and becoming more valuable than ever.

I wouldn't call it a crash if it's just a temporary thing or something that involves a few hundred dollars in a few days. We all have to understand that the price can't continue its ascent forever. There has to be rest periods, and corrections that will make the market cool off. All these talk about another crash will be forgotten once the price starts moving up once again.

Even other resources such as oil, dollars and gold doesn't always go up but sometimes the price goes down as well so what is there to panic if the bitcoin price takes a dip currencies and other resources doesn't always soar up. Will you panic with this small dip? or will consider this a good chance to buy and sell to make profit. Volatility exist whether it's crypto currency or fiat currency or other.
That is the risk of investing to this currencies in order to make profit.

Absolutely,it would be the best decision which a bitcoin investor could take to get some more valuable bitcoins at a much cheaper price. But we should see the reason for this.I'm quoting here the words of a bitcoin expert here that " Its a quite normal process.Any asset which can increase 62%in aweek and half should also expect a sizeable retracement after such run"

So,its nothing crash like what OP states and there is no need to spread FUD about bitcoin once more as already most newbies have suffered due to such FUD and have handed over their bitcoins in to the hands of big whales at a much cheaper price.

So,either do something for progress of bitcoin or just keep quiet.

Yeah, I'm ready--and I'm expecting a crash, too.  Just don't know to what extent we're going to do it, whether it's a drop to $1900 like we saw a few weeks ago or just a few hundred.

It's inevitable and healthy.  Nothing will keep going up forever.  Not stocks, bonds, rare comic books, metals, and not bitcoin.  For those of you who haven't realized this fact yet, brace yourselves.  Crash or correction is imminent.
