Hey Bitcoiners,

In Chinese culture, we have a cherished tradition of giving red envelopes ("Hong Bao" 红包) during New Year, birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations. These envelopes traditionally contain cash as a symbol of good fortune and blessings.

I've built a Bitcoin paper wallet generator specifically designed for this tradition:

Key Features:
🔐 True Self-Custody: 24-word seed phrase printed directly on the paper
🌱 100% Open Source: https://github.com/sbounmy/hongbao_bitcoin
💸 Flexible Funding: Top up via:
  • Direct Bitcoin transfer
  • Mt Pelerin (EUR/USD without KYC)
  • Any wallet supporting BTC transfers

Roadmap:
🔨 Currently working on:
- Implementing offline key generation using bitcoinjs-lib (still struggling)
- Enhanced security features for true air-gapped operation
- Additional traditional designs

Why This Matters:
This project bridges the gap between a millennia-old gift-giving tradition and Bitcoin's innovation. It's a perfect way to introduce family and friends to Bitcoin through a familiar cultural context.

Technical Details:
- Ruby on Rails + TailwindCSS
- Key Generation: using bitcoin-ruby gem
- All code open source and verifiable

Feel free to try it out and contribute to the project! All feedback and contributions are welcome.

Remember: Don't trust, verify - check the source code yourself!
