I know movie that using bitcoin and its called silk road from lions gate, and they said it was base on a true story of the dark web's illegal drug, wherein they're really gaining attention around the internet as well even in Netflix many people looking for it.. The trailer is very intense so it's not surprising and for sure bitcoin is really exposed now., and also there are some people will think that bitcoin isn't a good thing because of that movie. Lol

If I watch the trailer a few times, the movie “Sweet Girl” tells a film with the concept of a split personality story between his father Jason Momoa as Ray and his son Isabela Merced as Rachel, and the plot is confusing and messy.

and there are glimpses of crypto in the film maybe because crypto is currently in vogue, and it could also be because criminal acts are used to escape from one country to another because crypto can be used anywhere.

Glad to know you watched the trailer. The daughter is trying to take revenge after her mother died, and that is why she later changed her money to crypto and then left the country. The government was hunting her down so she notice the safest place to keep her money is in the crypto world and not in the government bank.

So smart of her to convert her first to Bitcoin.
The writer must be a very creative one bringing such ideas into play.
I think the movie will trend for a longee period of time than expected, the movie might not be what we expect bit to be but too many people on the cryptocurrency sphere will want to watch this.

This is another reminder that it will be difficult for Bitcoin to lose its value. It is safe to say that the price of bitcoin will not drop much in the near future.

If you are a fan of Movies, then you will know Jason Momoa. This year on August 20, Jason Momoa has touched Bitcoin in his movie "Sweet Girl" and has been one of the trending Netflix movies that have been watched by over 10 million people so far. In this movie at the end we see Jason Momoa's daughter (Isabela Merced) going to Bitcoin ATM and exchanging her money from Fiat to Crypto.

Jason Momoa is a very popular artist, some of his other movies like "Aquaman" were watched by over 60 million people and made a profit of more than $1.3 billion so it is my hope that "Sweet Girl" will be more watched.

The act of her daughter changing her money to crypto clearly showed that crypto is more secretive because she exchanged her money when she was fleeing from her country to another country and was being hunted by the government. This means she did it because she believed even if she was arrested by the government her money would still be in a safe place in the crypto world.

Do you think that if these great actors in the film industry will continue to integrate Bitcoin and other currencies into their works will they help add new stakeholders to the crypto world? Because I believe in 10 million viewers, then at least 1 million will want to know why the girl changed her money to Bitcoin, and that will be the beginning of them learning about Bitcoin.

What is your opinion on this?

Really need to appreciate  Jason Momoa to be the pioneer in introducing Bitcoin in Movies or correct if anyone else has already introduced BTC on a film. Thanks for sharing the news. I will watch it tomorrow. Just watched the trailer. Interesting. When BTC crosses $100k, yes the crypto market is going to be stepping into a new era of bringing in more and more into Bitcoin industry and making Bitcoin as one of their core area to invest and gain.
There are some others also who have shown bitcoin reference in movies and web series or i have heard few songs also which also has bitcoin name in it.But if we say btc to $100k then it's not too far from reality and market cap is again above $1.5 trillion for it and soon you will see it reaching new levels surpassing every financial assets and top most priority of investors.

Bitcoin is a financial reality in the digital age, so in my understanding, it is an important aspect of modern society and a matter that filmmakers will surely mention in future films or series. In the movie you mention, Bitcoin shows as a tool that helps protect your money from the ever-increasing corrupt Government. I certainly see it not as fiction but as pure reality, as it reminds me a lot of what Kasperski had to do to protect his money from the US Government.

What is highlighted here is not actually the direction of the actress or actor, they do this because there is already a script and there has been direction from the producer.
and maybe until now there have been a lot of movies in which one of the scenes uses bitcoin.
but the average use of bitcoin in the film seems to be in a negative direction, for example in the film Bitcoin Heist where the storyline is to hack bitcoin from various wallets.
and maybe there are some films in which there are scenes using bitcoins as a means of transactions in an illegal direction that make the audience curious and make the image of bitcoin so bad in the eyes of people who do not understand bitcoin

They will surely influence and encourage even huge investors to trust or switch to Bitcoin as a currency and investment. Big names like Jason Mamoa would surely affect cryptocurrency positively. If there would be more Hollywood stars that will promote and endorse Bitcoin, I'm sure that more people will get hooked to it and invest in it especially if they would emphasize its importance through movies and advertisements.

Sure that movie is going to make an impact. There are lots of people who would be wondering why she changed her money to Bitcoin like you have said, that would be interesting for them, so they would really research on what Bitcoin is all about. And then don’t be surprised if I tell you that it is possible that over fifty percent of the people that have watched that movie already knows about Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is no longer a new thing and it’s very popular these days and as long as you’re an internet user there is every possibility you have heard about it before.

But, it’s good that it keeps showing up in movies like this because that would motivate those who are yet to try it out to do so.

I like your thinking. Integrating into the film is a positive thing because it will give a quick awareness of technology. People will be more attracted to Bitcoin. But the whole world knows about Bitcoin now. Everyone is paying more attention to it.
Hopefully something better will happen in the future.
with a film about cryptocurrency, this will have a good effect on the development of crypto considering that currently crypto users around the world are still relatively minimal, so there is a need for coaching so that they understand, and eventually use it too, and this has an impact on the development of crypto around the world

It is so funny that the movie actually showing up the way out to everyone, bitcoin is escape pod for us if you are in financial trouble mostly govt raids, wanna hide money and taxes etc.
I mean that scene does have many point of views. For example, another dimension could be that, bitcoin is giving you power to hold your own money, the same thing which we keep saying if your keys then its your bitcoin / you are the own bank.

Bitcoin / crypto currency has appeared in many many movies and series until now. They are mostly referred for the criminal activities or also for the good funding sources. I saw first mention of crypto in Big Bang Theory by Chuck Lorre, then recently it also appeared in the Netflix Seris BlackList. The crypto trail was also used to find out who was behind the activity and it was literally Government who funded the terror activities with this.

I think Bitcoin is slowly making its way through various platforms and soon peeps will at least search about it after hearing it from their star.

In my opinion, there will be two factors that will determine my celebration of the use of Bitcoin in the movie, first what was bitcoin used for in the movies if it is for crime, money laundering then the movie will further give Bitcoin a bad name. And secondly who is the director of the movie because it's all his/her story the actress was just following the lines of the story.

Well, Id' say it's definitely not the actors that are doing this but the director himself. And there are two ways you could go about looking at this. The first one is product placement, but that would mean the movie sold some of its ad space to someone associated with crypto as it's done for numerous other products, but that seems highly unlikely as Bitcoin or crypto is not a single entity nor a corporation. The second one is that screenwriters and directors tend to implement real-life components into their movies so that viewers would be able to better relate to them. And with time you will get more crypto representation in both film and literature.

Bitcoin is present in movies more and more... when here in my country (Serbia) we can see Bitcoin in some movies and serials than I believe it will be everywhere soon! It's logical, my country is always late for the world!
It's interesting to see how they talk about Bitcoin, in what context they are talking about it... Well, Bitcoin is getting more popular every year, so let's not be surprised if we see some movie or serial that will be totally crypto-oriented!

I am happy that Bitcoin is getting more popular by starting to appear in some movies,  I believe in the future there will be movies that are truly
crypto oriented. For now if Bitcoin is in the movies only as a complement, so even though it appears in the movies it is not an important part
and there is no detailed explanation. So people who don't understand Bitcoin may not really understand Bitcoin, but at least the emergence of
Bitcoin in movies can provoke someone's curiosity to learn about Bitcoin. You should be grateful that in your country there are movies that show Bitcoin,
whereas in my country there are no movies showing Bitcoin. It seems my country is still late than yours.

positive the director of this film understands about bitcoin and the actors or actresses in the film are required to understand bitcoin and people who watch this film are also inspired about bitcoin and they know about bitcoin so they know bitcoin, so this is very positive news, definitely in the future there will be more and more bitcoin that you know or gain the trust of many people and the price will go up again.

I appreciate you bringing this to all of our attentions who have not yet seen the movie.  I personally have also not yet seen it, but plan to watch it, especially now.  I think if anything this is a good thing for bitcoin.  It one educates people about bitcoin, but shows some of the positive sides of it.  Sure, maybe hiding money from the government is not always a good thing to people, but it should be if they value freedom.

Many series and movies are now giving hints to bitcoin but not at much big level and only shows a glimpse at this time which many can ignore. The things is they are showing it as positive and negative at both end which in can turn mislead the audience about true reality of bitcoin. But overall it could be said that the movie makers are aslo becoming aware about bitcoin usage and want people to know the same or say they know interest of people so they are including it in movies.

First time I've seen Bitcoin in movie I was also pretty much excited. But of course, it was used for illegal stuff.
Nop buddy! No illegal stuff that lady had. She converted her money to crypto and leaves the country for her safety! She recorded a government leader's conversation confessing that she did bad things and cause people to die including her mother, then she send that conversation to the police. So after there she quickly converted her money into crypto and run from her country because reporting a high ranked government leader to the police is not a simple thing Smiley

Good that it's not the usual cliche. Still.. my point was that it's quite normal to see bitcoin be seen more and more in movies and no longer such an important news.
I've sorted a list in a way to become (imho) more relevant, so it's easier to see how many movies and episodes already have references to bitcoin.

IMO, there's a tendency that it doesn't workout the way you expect. Here's a more valid way to do your calculation, how many percent of people seeing the movie will want learn beyond knowing what the name "Bitcoin" is? How man percent will even pay that much attention to question the need for Bitcoin by the girl? Because to me, they are a lot of people who don't care much when seeing a movie.

We have seen bitcoin being mentioned in many movies and tv shows. So nothing new about it. Most of them just mentions about crypto currencies a little while rests make a slight joke out of it. Sadly the media isn't portraying  bitcoin and crypto currencies properly. Like you said, the girl used it to keep herself hidden from the government. So people are going to think that bitcoin is used by criminals for committing crimes without getting in trouble. Is this how we want people to think of crypto currencies? Nope.
Thats why those things seen in screens arent really as accurate but at least it do make out some exposure which might create some curiosity towards bitcoin and make out some search out of it despite of being

negatively introduced which it just never been new thing that media and people do love centralization would always have this kind of perception towards bitcoin. Most of the time they are misleading them.

but we know that people could really see the truth because adoption doesnt really stop and continue to progress and would really make out those realizations.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but Im planning to watch it this coming weekend, but If that's the case, then this is totally different than those movies before where Bitcoin has been used for money laundering or some other underground transactions which means illegal.
So, I guess Bitcoin has been portrayed the borderless usefulness of Bitcoin which can be applied in real life.
However, in the layman's POV they won't think it's possible especially they're just watching a movie.

Bitcoin that is included in the script of the film is certainly very intentional and has the aim of making the audience know bitcoin and promoting bitcoin that bitcoin has value. Viewers will definitely learn about bitcoin from the film.

Bitcoin is not only mentioned or embedded in movies, nowadays bitcoin is getting more and more known. every bitcoin economic news always has their own news and some ads show bitcoin. Bitcoin is becoming so popular in the world that its price is increasing due to the high demand.

Well, if she was fleeing from tyrants, that would mean Bitcoin can help humans during the reign of tyrants on Earth. If that was a crime money, it could be tagged with proof and will mostly likely be rejected by users.  Censorship resistant and transparency make this possible.
what you say is something very true, that bitcoin can be very helpful if we are facing problems either individually or when facing the authorities or anything that might do something to us. bitcoin facilities are able to make us able to avoid problems that can be detrimental safely.

but whether it is possible to do something from the proceeds of crime or not, which certainly cannot be prevented when using bitcoin and cannot be marked. apart from the fact that the rules enforced in that country are quite good in their regulations, they are clearly recognizable. and even then before making transactions to bitcoin of course.

It was not crime money, but her money! The girl's mother died. The girl conducted an investigation and found that a senior government official was involved in her mother's death. So she started a plan to find evidence of that leader to report him to the police, finally, she succeeded and decided to change her money to crypto and leave the country for her safety because that leader was so powerful!
yes, even though I haven't seen the film myself but from the storyline what you say is true that it's not money from crime. so it also needs to be straightened out so that there is no communication that does not connect.

but the principle told in the film is that if someone wants to be safe and no one can interfere with what they have, it is definitely safer to convert fiat currency into crypto. so no one will be able to pick it up or track it down though. as long as the wallet we place is safe with us and is not known to anyone.

It's clear that this film enlightens everyone that doing crypto activities can be the best way to not know what we have. and this will make a lot of enlightenment for those who are not familiar with crypto and want to learn because the benefits are more and are clearly profitable.

Most of the early movies touching crypto especially bitcoin, were portraying as a means to money laundering. This is why some people have negative perception towards bitcoin. But as people educate themselves and learn what this new currency is all about, they will change their perspectives. Let us hope that future movies will emphasized more on the positive side of bitcoin as well as crypto in general and not highlight it as a means of doing illegal activities. It is good that in this particular movie, it is not because of money laundering but a way to convert her money to crypto for security purposes, which I guess a lot are already doing this when they go outside the country.

I think that the bitcoin being present in movies and series has been one of the things that spread maybe miss information and also moved the curiosity of many people, because whenever there is is reference to hacking and dark web they are always showing bitcoin in a bad way, and that is being used for those things, when the reality if farm from that because the majority of the bitcoin is being used for legal things, and has more use for it than what they are depicting.

True, it is sad to see Bitcoin involved in such movies! But in this movie "Sweet Girl" is a young girl who converted her money to crypto and then left the country for her safety after reporting a senior government official to police for having terrorist incidents and cause the death of her mother.

It’s becoming more & more common that bitcoin is briefly mentioned in movies. It’s obviously a good thing for adoption as bitcoin grows & becomes more & more mainstream.
Absolutely! I have seen several movies involving Bitcoin, and I am very happy to see even the top directors and actors are also starting to involve Bitcoin in their work.

Well, if she was fleeing from tyrants, that would mean Bitcoin can help humans during the reign of tyrants on Earth. If that was a crime money, it could be tagged with proof and will mostly likely be rejected by users.  Censorship resistant and transparency make this possible.

It’s becoming more & more common that bitcoin is briefly mentioned in movies. It’s obviously a good thing for adoption as bitcoin grows & becomes more & more mainstream.

1. It's the movie director(s) that's integrating Bitcoin to the movies, not necessarily the actors/actresses.
I agree. Directors with the collaboration of screenwriters!

2. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are mostly added into movies as something that's being used by criminals and shady peeps. Definitely not something that will make people bullish, but it will bring curiosity at the very least.
Maybe! But If you watch "Sweet Girl" you will know why that girl is hunted by the government.

Yes, there are some great shows I've heard talking about Bitcoin, but it's just the movies of two popular actors I've seen integrating Bitcoin, 1. Jexi - 2019, 2. Sweet Girl - 2021.

I've encountered a few discussions on this forum, suggesting this form of publicity for bitcoin, like creating a plot that actually deals with the mysterious figure of satoshi and the bitcoin creation. Sadly, there would be a lot of fiction to this and so, might be a filled adventure but, projecting bitcoin in an actual movie would be a good thing. A positive thing to bitcoin  anyways but, it depends on the theme it was centered on.

1. Quick transfer of large some over distance
2. Anonymity of usage
3. Untaxed or uncharged
4. No centralization to it
5. Secured usage
6... and lots of things like that.

These goes for me and not necessarily using it for a means to escape with crime or after faulting a rule, it becomes a safe getway. Yeah, it still projects safe but, there is a criminal element attached. Either way, it still calls for research for the learned and intelligence mind. Hence, truths to it could still be discovered. Its a good one!

The show of Bitcoin in the Net Flix movie is a good positive development. Movies are a good source of awareness, publicity, communication, and enjoyment. People see movies eagerly and movies have an effect on society. Today, Bitcoin is mostly seen in the news from different points of view. It is getting popularity in the world. The awareness about Bitcoin is increasing very fastly. The time is not far when the world will come to know about its value and impotence.

First time I've seen Bitcoin in movie I was also pretty much excited. But of course, it was used for illegal stuff.
Interestingly the "inspectors" simply knew an approximate market price and made a quick conversion into dollar equivalent  Cheesy

But no, it's not wow. Bitcoin is around for more than 11 years. It has been in the news countless of times. Politicians talk about it. Public figures talk about it. Of course it's in the movies. And of course it's usually the cliche of "illegal money" that doesn't actually help us. So no, I'm no longer excited when I see bitcoin mentioned in movies.

Actors/actresses are not the one who have the idea to actually integrate Bitcoin or cryoto but the staff of the movie itself, meaning it could be the writers or the director himself, the reason on why they include it in their production could either be that they're supporting the use of crypto or they stand against it in a way where people will actually say that Bitcoin is all a scam.

Also, I think it's pretty much normal to see Bitcoin being joked/criticized inside cartoons/series/movies, and Jason Momoa's new movie seems nice, haven't watched it yet but I definitely will.  Cool

The awareness of bitcoin is widely emphasized. At first it was only known as a scam project but it quickly spread on various social media and now we see it in a movie. It's really amazing. I think it’s hard but there is a possibility that bitcoin will become a currency maybe not in the whole world but in some countries I think.

Bitcoin awareness is global now and is integrated in almost every sectors now so seeing actors making use of bitcoin in one way or the other in movie is normal. But then I also believe that integrating cryptocurrencies (bitcoin) in movies is a positive one because it will give the technology rapid awareness. Through the movie more people will accept the technology and appreciate it also. Bitcoin is the future coin so I expect to see more movies that bitcoin is used as a currency for exchanges and purchasing of properties and savings.
In the past it is very rare to see the term bitcoin or the usage video in television or in big screen. When movies show bitcoin, automatically people who doesn't know about bitcoin will come to know about existence of bitcoin. In my country in the past the word bitcoin can be heard only when there is some negative news with it. Now on every commercial ad session between a program it is possible to see advertisement on bitcoin.

It's a positive thing about crypto, people are no longer wonder if they heard bitcoin or cryptocurrency shouted in a movie because it's everywhere right now. If we compare to 5 or more years before crypto is still not as famous as right now, there are a lot of exchanges with big volume right now which means people could easily buy bitcoin or crypto.
We hope this positivity spread around the world and increasing the demand, and congratulation for a long time holders since years ago  Grin
