It is still a confusion for rest of world only Russians experience the truth. There are many different perspectives on bitcoin, and whether it is banned in Russia is quite a question. In a communist country like Russia, the government controls absolutely EVERYTHING. You can never trust the news outlets because they are controlled. The Bitcoin in Russia is now considered a foreign currency, and it will be monitored closely.

I think the Russian government will not completely prohibit the use of bitcoin in their country, maybe it was the new plan would still require a more thoughtful consideration again

to me the government of Russia has also not given yet any statement about bitcoin, therefore people are using it as legal currency, but if their government consider it as illegal then it will really become difficult for them to use it.
I think the Government of Russia will ban bitcoin although there has been no official statement. all countries know that the use of the bitcoin will officially make a country's currency can be abandoned. In addition to this is the issue of taxes, with the State would certainly difficult bitcoin collect taxes, because the Government had no control over bitcoin.
Where did you get that the idea that the use of bitcoin goes to destroy a country's local currency? We know the Dollar have been part and parcel of many countries other than the real owner America, yet no recorded incident of the dollar edging out any local currency.

Bitcoin is an emerging technology and many countries are undecided what to do with it, so not to end up shooting themselves in the leg. Russia is really not keen about banning bitcoin, because in the short while they tried to move in that direction, they got the rude awakening that a boarderless, free and decentralized currency cannot be swept under the carpet. So now, they are probably marking time to see what the U.S. comes up with and key in.

yes i also think so that like other countries they may also have not yet take any clear decision about bitcoin. we can see that still there are too many Russian using bitcoin. i think Russia is not going to bane bitcoin even in future.

Russian government has received bitcoin as a currency in circulation there since last November. Russia's positive attitude and will treat virtual currency, Bitcoin in particular, such as foreign currency. It's very good for the development of bitcoin as the population of Russia is very much will help the bitcoin in order to grow and increase the price.

very true, at least in moscow
Yes, because it is the capital of Russian state and large areas that have larger populations. If the spread of bitcoin well developed it will help the development of bitcoin around 10%. Prices will continue to rise as it is be perceived today. It could be an advantage for bitcoin users.

read this article:https://bit.news/eng/events-cryptocurrency-world-week-november-28-4-december-2016/
it states that "Per official info upon the status of cryptocurrency in Russia, which is contained in the official letter of the Federal Tax Service, Russian law does not prohibit transactions with Bitcoin"
also here: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-legal-default-russia-says-new-federal-tax-document/
it seems that the grey area surrounding legality of bitcoin usage in Russia is no longer there

I live in a country close to Russia, so I guess I understand what is really going on there. I know some people from Russia using Btc (accepting it as a salary). That should mean that you can probably even exchange it for local currency (didn't check but I'm sure there are people in the main towns which can be seen on Localbitcoins). However, officially it is illegal which in such countries means that if you are an influential person and not against Putin then it's nothing if you are caught. If you can't give a bribe, against Putin and not from a known family - you can go to jail for a couple of years.

Everyone knows, bitcoin is including commodities, so many countries that provide a neutral statement about the bitcoin. does not prohibit, but also did not approve of. I think it's what makes bitcoin increasingly attractive.

I think it is banned in there but people still use it at there as no one can find that who is the owner of bitcoins and who are using it in a specific country, so even with ban on it people at there are using it.
Russia made an attempt to ban bitcoin and we know the authorities are very uncomfortable with the decentralized nature of bitcoin and which is exactly, what have made them look like toothless bull dogs, because it is a losing battling, fighting something that is not regulated and decentralized. Should be a big lesson for other countries trying to toy with bitcoin.

You see with Russia it is never easy to say what they are thinking. Russian official line of legislation is very unstable.
They leap between tolerance and hostility toward Bitcoin. There are no clear official guidelines for regulating cryptocurrency at this time.

All we know - Bitcoin is not banned in Russia ATM. I was at one point in the past, but government failed to enforce it so they gave up.

nobody except a Russian knows this.
I say this because over the past I have heard all kinds of different news about Russia and bitcoin. you read on the news sites (which are never a good source) that Russia has banned bitcoin, then you hear someone on the social media saying no I live there and there is no such law and the news site is full of it.

if you ask me I think there is only talk about banning bitcoin in Russia and they have not set any laws for that and my reason is the big ass bitcoin conference that was held in Moscow a couple of months ago and it is set to happen each year.

I remember that the russian governement banned it, and then made it legal again.
The problem Poetin and friends have, that the russian economy is going downwards, because russia fights with europe. The sanctions made it bad for them, so they banned bitcoin to prevent money to go out of russia.

The legal statues of Bitcoin differ from country to country , but it is not official recognized in any country as I think .
Regardin Bitcoin statue in Russia , in 2015 the central bank of Russia said that Bitcoin usages was illegal in Russia , after that the Russia government has banned Bitcoin , but now they have an intention to consider Bitcoin as foreign currency and they will regulate its buy and sell operations.
