Never sell your bitcoins, price of them will rise oneday anyway,  you just need some time, wait and their price will go back to top
What a fucking garbage necropost, you should be ashamed of yourself for posting this nonsense.  Why did you bump this thread back from the dead?

But having been bumped already it's interesting to look at the comments in the beginning of it about exchanges and the "I got hacked" excuse which has become hackneyed in itself.  This thread was started last year well before the fate of Cryptsy was known and before the Master-P scam and all the hackings here on the forum.  Very interesting to me.

In hindsight, I'd say my posts come off a touch snarky.  Embarrassed

If all people were holding their coins, then there wouldn't be a market anymore. People have bought their coins at several prices and they have all different reasons for selling their coins. People sell because they want to secure their profits or simply because they need the money to pay bills and such. No matter what the reason is, people will always sell their coins.

Yes and it would be hopeless if we sell our bitcoins at a moment, as bitcoin will offer us some high profits in future, So I am not gonna sell any coin at a moment, I would just hold it.

It would be wrong to sell all of your Bitcoins atm. Wait and see, the coin will eventually rise at high values once again. You just have to be patient. Rome wasn't build in one day as people tend to say.

We ought to consider the possibility that an overwhelming chunk of coins are now in the hands of people who are content to just watch it slow burn

thats when we switch to an altcoin.. But which one??

if we all hold the bitcoin for few month this price will reach 500$ soon

we  convert this into altcoin and earn money by trading

How many threads like this exist?  Seems like there's at least 10 of these a day.

If Bitcoin is hopeless, why are major financial institutions and banks trying to figure out how to pry the Blockchain away from Bitcoin in order to use it for their services(hint, you can't)?  Why are there hundreds of millions of venture capital and angel investors pouring money in Bitcoin startups?  Why is Bitcoin hopeless if we still haven't exited the Beta stage, and still haven't launched 1.0?

If anything this is period to load up, not dump before it's too late...

Can I have a guess? Bitcoin is one of the first to take the greatest leap. Imagine those low transaction fees that separate bitcoin to other existing payment methods, it's anonymity concept, the different concepts it have. So yeah, definitely not panic with some naysayers proclaiming that we should sell because we are doomed to face failure. But as many would always say (MANY), don't put in what you can't afford to lose. After all, there are no assurances that bitcoin will take you to your millions. It is also a speculative asset, like any other investments out there.

There are no games in bitcoins. It's purely speculative. No one can declare what would be the price by tomorrow. We can only speculate. The risks are there, yes, but the reality is that there are no games involved in here. Money is in the line. A gamble, maybe? But a game? Uhhm.

hmm now I really was a confused, between sell or hold to wait a little better price  Cry Cry  Huh Huh

Well it's still up to you if you will believe the naysayers or continue your journey with bitcoin. After all, it's your money that you're holding and it's your responsibility to take care of. Either way, you still have the final say. This is a world of speculation though. As long as there's money involved in every subject, there would be different sides of people. It's still up to you to decide whose side are you going to believe on.

Sometimes I feel like it's my fault that Bitcoin has dropped to such a low price...  It seems that whenever I sell my coins, the price goes up.  But when I keep my coins, the price drops!  Heck, I could probably have the entire network's hashpower and still not find a block solo mining.

Nice try, trying to get us to sell you our coins! Well, actually I don't really believe you want the coins, you just don't believe in Bitcoin, got out of it at some point maybe - at a loss, and now rationalize to yourself that your decision was the right one. Who's going to be right... we'll see!

Who are these people? i dont recognize anyone from the greek gov.

Neo & Bee a bitcoin 'bank' based in Cyprus with lots of flashy offices and leaflets. One of the cornerstones of their operation was the assumption that the price would keep on rising. Funnily enough it didn't. The main man did a runner.
So where's that "bank" these days, another fail?

I don't think it ever really got started. They spent huge amounts of money on ads and premises and then went dark.

Actually, the business plan was to raise as much money as possible from Bitcoin "investors" & profit.  Those who pressed him for any more details were labeled as trolls & banned.
To this day there are folks suggesting Neo & Bee was a failed business & not a scam.  But then there are also people waiting for their money from TF and Ukyo.
Yeah, there was plenty of Bitcoin's moneyed gentry vouching for Danny Brewster, like Havelock Investments (currently down for three days lol), and some bitcointalk dignitaries like TAT--all forgotten now Undecided

why, maybe if all people hold they bitcoin. bitcoin price will be up

But the moment the price rises by 20$,we have people going back on their word and selling.

That is why it is a free market and people who own coins are perfectly within their right to sell and make money, who says they are people who are going back on their word? Who says that you have ever heard a word from them on this forum, maybe people are telling the truth and do hold maybe some people say they will holdl and sell, maybe some say they will sell at a profit but holdl this is what makes it exciting you never know what is coming because if you did you would be filthy rich. To the OP, BTC is doing well, don't worry.

Dear uki:

How are you?  Your use of BTC is a violation of Thailand’s common law trademark rights, common law service mark rights, and trade name rights, and a whole bunch of other shit.  This letter constitutes Thailand’s demand that you cease and desist any and all use of the baht (Thai: บาท, sign: BTC; code: THB), and to stop being a theiving fagit.  Try to be original for once, FFS.

You should immediately forward this letter to your attorney.

Well the good news is there's not that many exchanges left to be hacked.

This is more important than you realize.  With sound money, bear markets cleanse the system of greed, scams, ponzi schemes, incompetent exchange operators, ect... instead of bailing them out.  This allows for organic growth for the next cycle vs a cancerous vermin like we are seeing with the legacy financial system.  The next rally should be epic.
that is right. Very important conclusion, that may actually pointing to the sentiment change. If you look at the most recent news, e.g., BTER coins stolen it seems that negative news do not drag the price down that much as they could (and as they did last year).

To the OP, BTC is doing well, don't worry.

Seems the effect of BTER shutting down only lasted for 2 days. And now the price is going back up, or atleast its not falling like it used to before.

Or its artificialy created stability to make u think the effect from bter is passed, and then another dive follows.. u can never be sure when it comes to prices on an open market.
Im convinced we will see more bubbles and growth, but not just yet, first we need to get things in order, theres no going forward without that, and op is right.

cheers

I don't know, looking at the weekly volume graph (Bitstamp), we've been close to that of the ATH, which makes for a pretty satisfying bottom.
However, I too think it will take quite some time before the next bubble comes.

Don't say I didn't warned you guys but i think that everytime the price of btc is going up, there's a bitcoin exchange that will close and declares that they were hacked so my advice for you guys is to sell your bitcoins now and withdraw them to your own pockets before its too late.

Nonsense.
Bitcoin lends itself perfectly to scumbaggery.  It's where washed-up conmen come to run scams that've been burnt down ages ago IRL.  I mean, imagine an IRL human being sending real money--through intertubes--to an Anon claiming to be starting a bank?  In Cyprus?
Yeah, like that.
But wait, that's not all!

As a bonus, most Bitcoin enthusiasts are batshit crazy paranoiacs weary of governments and law enforcement intervention, and are dabbling in petty crimez themselves value their privacy.  On top of that, they have the sophistication and street-smarts of a fruit fly tend to overestimate their own business acumen.
TL;DR: perfect marks.

just don't use exchanges that appear to have shit security or that have lots of known issues and you will be fine

i would only leave a small amount anyway, doesn't matter the security they have, just leave what you need to trade

to the OP, bitcoin is still alive and kicking, no reason to panic

so my advice for you guys is to sell your bitcoins now and withdraw them to your own pockets before its too late.

Wow, OP has just found a simple yet elegant way to double your holdings:

1. Sell your Bitcoins
2. Then withdraw them

After executing this sophisticated strategy you are left with both your original Bitcoin holdings in a wallet and their current fiat value on the exchange. Amazing. Hey, OP, you should've sold your cash-cow-strategy to a few selected individuals under NDA and not publish it for free. Now everyone will do it and crash the price to zero.

Hahaha breaking news,  HUGE glitch in the system just found Tongue

Thanks for the heads up and the warning mate appreciated .
What the hacked exchangers have anything to do with us tho ? People should simply learn on how to keep their Bitcoins on their private offline wallets instead of keeping them on a exchanger (at least not for a long time) or an Online wallet .

Unless you're trying to spread FUD (you wouldn't be the first one to do so..), then your understanding is wrong.
What made you think that Bitcoin can only succeed/work if it is always highly valued?

How do you expect me to convince someone to buy 1 Bitcoin when it costs over $1000 (which is more than 2x monthly salary in some countries)?

...

The record of the exchanges holding other people's Bitcoin is, ahh, not so good.

I would recommend HODLing BTC in a hardware wallet, both Trezor and Ledger are working well for me.  And if I can figure out how to use them (with my limited technical abilities) then anyone else here can too.  The Ledger is very economically priced at about 29 Euro (pay by BTC).  MUCH cheaper than having a problem with BTC in peril at an exchange.

Even a web wallet like blockchain.info's would be better than at an exchange.

hopeless? I think it's headed for a major rally ..
And it could be just around the corner. But, what we do know, is that the action happens and more than fulfills the dreams of the utmost bulls when it does take its course. This next leg up will blow everyones' minds and the bears will be speechless for a lifetime since it'll be so big. Now is the time to get your bets placed but I would not do it on the downslope w/ leverage, that's crazytown/suicide at this point. Spring is coming w/ a great harvest being gathered this year.

While its somewhat bogus of you to pass your thoughts so direct, and there are many that will scratch your opinion off, i actually agree with you in short term prediction.
I spent a little time making calculations myself, and i doubt this is going to 300$ or anywhere beyond, but i wouldnt say bitcoin is hopeless, its conversion value is just still not justified.
If you are short term trader,i would definetly sell, but if you are one of the people who invest , and are willing to wait for years to make profits, then by all means buy.

cheers

Well the good news is there's not that many exchanges left to be hacked.

The chances are there never was exchanges to 'hack' just greedy exchange owners who wanted fast money and was tired of waiting around for the big payday.

How easy was that for them to say that and walk into the night with a few million, i believe bitstamp only exchange that paid back which probably shows they really was hacked.
