It's often taking more than a minute to load a page of Bitcointalk. I don't know what's causing this, but sometimes Bitcointalk is very slow and it's so horrible that I'm not using it at those times anymore, although they are often the times I can be available the most.
So my question basically is... Why the heck is Bitcointalk so slow? And is there anything I can do about it? Or is there something that will probably be done about it soon?
I've asked this a couple days ago, there supposedly, according to theymos, was a DDOS attack going on at the time. Pages have been loading slightly faster since, but it is still nowhere like it used to be.
It's a DDoS, I'm working on it.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalk-is-extremely-slow-not-working-2484738I'm guessing that there's just lots and lots of people browsing bitcointalk, due to the sudden increase in price of bitcoin.
See coinbase, bitstamp et al, all had record traffic last week.
Don't think there's much you can do unfortunately....
Thanks for your response. That clarifies it. Let's hope it gets better soon
Has been performing better today already.
It's been OK for me today. What times, and where are you?
When reporting posts I've been getting quite a few cloudflare status pages where it shows whether you are connected to the internet, whether cloudflare is up and if Bitcointalk.org is up. Every single time it's said that the website has gone down. I've been getting some error codes which state I'm either sending requests to quickly, or the website is temporarily down. This was roughly around 5-6pm GMT, located in the UK.
Although, general browsing has been generally okay.
Update: Actually very responsive right now.
Update 2: 23:19 a few blimps in performance and taking a while for things to catch up. A lot of posts were removed in the modlog which maybe could of contributed to it? Returned back to normal within a few minutes.
This is one of the error messages:
Too fast / overloaded (503)
Most likely, you are accessing the forum too quickly. You are only allowed to access at a rate of one pageload per second on average (somewhat higher bursts).
It is also possible that the server is overloaded or temporarily down.
503 via master1
Yeah, today it has been functioning better for me too as well.
Why did you written "
Bitcoin" is insanely slow", instead of Bitcointalk?
Yesterday forum was really slow all day long. But today forum loads fast, as it shoulf be, at least for me.
Such problems odten being caused by DDOS attacks. But in recent days, I think that Bitcointalk just get much more traffic than usual, probably due to Bitcoin price. And looks that many Bitcoin related websites, not Bitcointalk only, didn't prepared to accept so many visitors. For example, look what's going on on Kraken - it's almost impossible to use this platform.
I wrote "Bitcoin is insanely slow", because I made a typo. I obviously meant "Bitcointalk is insanely slow".
And it wasn't just yesterday, it was like the past week that Bitcointalk was insanely slow. Today it seems better though, although it could slow down later in the day though...
The malicious miner theory is entirely possible as these miners can use their hash power to produce a block between the paused intervals
That's completely irrelevant... Try reading the post before posting your crap, please...
