I find this statement funny not because I imagined people kept praying for the prices but because it can be true. But, then again, the prices depend on real factors in the market.

I think crypto has similarities to both religion and the lottery.

Theres 1380+ cryptos and exponentially that number is growing

Choosing which crypto to invest in is similar to choosing which of the 1000s of religions to believe in.

The lottery attracts millions and millions of people who dream of getting rich

Crypto is like the lottery because most of the investors believe they wont have to work and will get rich. The lottery is a tax on the poor. Most of the people who buy bitcoin own very little of it and are not wealthy. But they dream of getting rich

What similarities do you see between BTC/crypto and religion or the lottery?

I have nothing to do with what you have stated. It is your own opinion. But the moment you even compare it to religion is so alarming. It is not and will never be a religion. Then what are you praising there? The cryptocutrency? Well in lottery, of you are after some games or gambling, then it really do and would look similar. In my point of view on what you have said, you're almost telling that people treat bitcoin as a key to success, for some reasons there could be but not to the point that this is the only key.

What if you hold different cryptocurrency? You also engaged in other religion? I think crypto is different in religion even in terms of concept.
But we can connect religion in crypto by having faith with the coins you've invest. Faith that someday it will rise and you will gain profits!

Wrong analogy my friend.

You can't quantify with numbers what are the chances that your religion of choice is the right one, and what are the chances that everything it says it correct, and what are the odds you end in hell or heaven or if any of that exists... you are basically wasting your time.

On the other hand, you can perfectly quantify how much money exists out there, what are the current different assets worth and how much money would it take for bitcoin to reach a certain price if people for example allocated 1% of their gold capital on bitcoin... all of these are tangible, physical facts which can be measured, with religion you aren't working with anything that could lead to logical predictable premises.

So if you own 1 BTC, you can calculate what it would take for you to be a millionaire, you can't do this with religious beliefs.

In a way that can be true, as with the way that bitcoins are behaving, more people are joining and holding on believing that values will increase more.

When we talk about bitcoin and religion, we can always find some of the same points. Religion is a belief, and many times, it is a belief that we buy bitcoin and hold it for a long time. In addition, religion can make people focus on one thing, and bitcoin seems to be able to do it

That's not the truth.

For whales Cryptos are just free and easy money.
For all others it is like competition: if you are smarter than others you get more.
And for any naive holders expecting to become millionaire by getting 0.01 BTC it is just waste of money and time.

Main mistake is that religion is based on faith, investments are based on expectations. Lottery is based on pure luck and statistics, while gambling is based on skill too.

I am aware of some similarities between lottery and cryptocurrency. There is an element of gambling in both as we are hoping that our coins/tokens would appreciate in value as time goes on but then again this is also similar with buying a real estate as no one will buy something (an asset) and not expect for its value to appreciate...it would be foolish to get into something thinking that the value of that something will depreciate. That is, of course, against human nature. Actually, there is nothing wrong with hoping as hope can be one of the basis why we still live. As to religion, elements like faith, hope and holding on can also be found in cryptocurrency. The mains reason why there are some similarities is because we are talking here of people. As long as we are dealing with breathing human beings, we will continue on hoping and  believing that something good will come out in the next few days, weeks, months and years. That is just normal.

Religion itself, definition wise, although I've looked it up in the past is any system of belief. Religion does not necessarily indicate god. So btc investing does require some faith and routine and structure a lot of us develops. In that respect yes it can be. Absotutley no relation to the king of kings though, lottery, well yes in a way. Look at all the posts here who say Bitcoin will change their life and be worth a zillion dollars. It's a bit ridiculous at times

It seems that this statement looks ridiculous. I think there is no god in the bitcoin and altcoin worlds, and any highly skilled person can change the entire encrypted world in a fraction of the time.

You're not making even a little bit of sense, I'm sorry; you're saying that having bitcoin is the same as having a lottery ticket, but this is beyond foolish because 99.99999% of lottery tickets are worthless, every bitcoin is worth the same.. There is no gamble in what you are getting, you are getting a bitcoin nothing more nothing less.

Bitcoin being a type of currency, could be replaced with "dollar" in your OP and we'd be left with a statement "Owning USD is like having a lottery ticket", even though you buy a lottery ticket with USD, only have a CHANCE to get any value from a lottery ticket, yet the dollar does not deceive you in the same way that the lottery ticket does. It is worth it's face-value, nothing more nothing less.

Your logic is circular, Bitcoin = Lottery, Bitcoin = USD, Lottery = USD.. Is everything a lottery to you? Things aren't happening by mere coincidence moment to moment, there is salience and reasons for why these things happen.

The lottery is people pulling numbers out at random, picking a random winner (or no winner). Bitcoin is a new concept that facilitates trade with new technology that connects everyone internationally from a decentralized and secure platform. For you to even compare Bitcoin to the lottery is infantile, when every single person that has put $100 in bitcoin over month ago has at LEAST tripled their money; how many "investors" of the lottery can say they have benefited universally in such a manner?

Religion is based on "faith".. Bitcoin isn't something we have faith in how it works or that it exists; it's measurable, it's decentralized, developed by consensus, it's physical.. People do not have "faith" around bitcoin as they do with religion, they see use in the technology being presented and know others will too.

HODL is like the concept of "just believing" when it comes to religion.

When theres 1000s of religions and 1000s of cryptos created out of thin air, does it make sense to just believe in one?
