North Korea has been building a ton and modernizing in the last two years - it's the only explanation.

NaKamoto.  NK = North Korea.

The country is far behind the rest of the "developed" world.

Do they even allow acess to the internet there?

I believe they have a huge censored intranet. Only a privileged few can access the wider internet.

Yeah, everything is blocked there, internet, TVs etc.

What the fuck, no way.

They dont even know how to use the internet only maybe kim jung il.

Kim jong-il is dead, first he was il then dead.

Not true, they launched DDoS attacks at South Korea, but were too stupid to hide their IP properly, and masked it as a Chinese IP, who is supposed to be their ally.

North Korea looks pretty black and white to me. Do they even allow acess to the internet there?

Not really, everything is restricted, they have limited access. I think they have some phones that can, but everything is censored, and only top-ranking government officials can access the outer internet.

Exactly, the elite there lives a very privelleged life. They know many things are lies (such as the hamburger invention), but do not speak about it. Its kind of like our system but taken to a more extreme level  Smiley

It must be a slow day around here to dream up this wild theory,.

Not at all. The North Korean government is insane, they claim they invented the hamburger so that their citizens enjoy a different type of nutrition.
Bless them, most of them live under starvation.

I'm sure you're not being serious, but there's no way a dictatorship and censor-loving totalitarian state would create something as freeing and liberating as Bitcoin. Kim and co probably hate the entire concept.

NK is not so black/white as the western media likes to display.  Have a look at http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ulha7/the_first_bitcoin_transaction_in_north_korea/  Sure, the citizens do not have access to it, but this does not mean the authority does not want to use it for their own benefits/interest.

Further , just to point out NK does have a cyber-espionage program and the south koreans consider them a major threat

NK has a mass surveillance program, like an analogue PRISM  Smiley

True, there are many highly educated men in North Korean. Many of the elites have received their education in Switzerland, England, USA... but I honestly doubt they are after BitCoin. Afterall, they have a carte blanche for printing USD.

IMHO

Weird and Paranoid yes..completely improbable no, I am sure though that at this point it would be easy enough to debunk

North Korea's GDP is comprised largely of Drug and Weapons trafficking. money laundering and guess what , Production of the highest quality counterfeit currency( superbills). ( source: http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/row/RL33324.pdf)

Further , just to point out NK does have a cyber-espionage program and the south koreans consider them a major threat http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/sep/11/north-korean-hackers-cyber-espionage

NaKamoto.  NK = North Korea.

Interesting! There are 5 letters in 'North' and in 'Korea'. The NK is 2 letters.

5-2 = 3

There are some smart people in north korea, some received education/training abroad. So some people know how to use it.
Nevertheless 'money' in itself is pretty much illegal in north korea, i.e. street markets are often shutdown when they get too big according to the regulators.
Let alone they would develop a crypto-currency;
