Some of the technology is old. I was using linked blocks in a chain on an IBM 1401 in the late 1960s. What is revolutionary is the linking of all the old technology into a package, and using the Internet to create a distributed payment system.

To be honest, the only one coin is live with full decentralization and that is Bitcoin. Except bitcoin all other just a altcoin and likely centralized. Although few altcoin have some advantages but that's are nothing with bitcoin blockchain. Probably that's the reason why bitcoin creator staying anonymous and no one is there to control bitcoin blockchain. If you want to upgrade bitcoin blockchain with comparing other altcoin then likely it will turn into centralization which would lose the value of current bitcoin. Remember, even your father is oldest but you can't replace him with your son.

GOD!! I wish SMAS was still around. Dude refrain from commenting on topics which you know nothing about, it ruins the reading experience for other users... Back in my day posts like these were considered 'shit posting' and I see you have been on a roll lately...

You are just stating the obvious which has been stated by other users before you and in some places you are giving out wrong information to newbies.

Some would say that Ethereum is better, it is definitely faster and cheaper than Bitcoin. And then one beautiful morning CryptoKitties come along and they create unseen congestion on the network and havoc for the Ethereum blockchain.

the problem is that it wasn't just CryptoKitties it was basically any ICO that took off for a little while.
it was also one day when someone created a smart contract and the foundation (aka centralized owners) didn't like the fact that they lost a lot of money so they easily rolled back the blocks they didn't like and split the network into two, one immutable ledger called ETC and another mutable ledger called ETH.

That's the problem with most alts and scalability. They scale really well... until people start using them Wink

More on topic, don't mistake old for obsolete. People might buy new smartphones on a yearly basis nowadays but in the end all these devices run on software that's already decades old.

Ethereum was supposed to be better at "Dapps" and being the "World computer". It is the originator of those ideas that seemed so beautiful with the slick website and the 3-D logo of Ethereum. Then there was Vitalik Buterin who fulfilled the need for the prodigious Teen founder (Right from his geeky looks to the old USSR'esque name). It was hard to not fall for the promises of ERC-20..!! Grin Grin

Too bad that all the scam devs copied the idea of a whitepaper + website and Russian sounding team. To top it all, now they want to fork to Proof-of-Stake. I think the devolution is complete so very few can argue that Ethereum is better.

of course when your entire information comes from reading what random people (advertising an altcoin which they are bag holding and want to see pumped) tell you, you'll end up thinking they are different and more advanced! but when you look at them under the hood you can clearly see majority of altcoins are exact copies of bitcoin with so small number of differences and in all cases those differences could even be considered weaknesses because they have opened up new attack surfaces.

The ethereum and other new ones use better technology?  Im correct or not?

The answer depends on how do you define "better technology"?

If you don't care about decentralization, don't care about simplicity or want complex features (such as smart contract, DAO, etc.), then i'd understand if you think ETH (and many altcoin) uses "better technology"

Do you think that bitcoin technology is Old and need some renovation?

No. Additionally, Bitcoin is constantly "renovated" (such as P2SH and SegWit) and Bitcoin technology today is different with Bitcoin technology 10 years ago

I think most of the idea behind this "old bitcoin tech" thing is related to scalability.
There are some shitcoins which are faster, but they  are more centralized
Choosing scalability over decentralization is not a good idea. It's better to just use visa.
But muh Ripple tech is superior to Bitcoin and all altcoins. What you say is untrue sir. Ripple is Bitcoin 4.0. /s for the more limited and less educated ones.
So ripple xrp has best Tech???  Not even bitcoin has?
You clearly need a brain transplant or a ban. I'm fine with the later.

Yes it is old. No wonder, it was the first cryptocurrency, and BTC is built of old technologies like SHA256. It is like a cooking recipe you take some old or in the case of a recipe already known and finished ingredients and create something new. BTC combines old technologies and the harmony of this technologies is incredible. Beyond that BTC was created in a unique time. In Bitcoin’s beginning you could destroy BTC easier with an 51% attack, simply because of the fact that there were not enough miner (hash power) and not enough cash in the market, but also there were not enough interested people, nobody had the purpose to destroy BTC or to make profit of it. Why? Nobody believed in the technology, especially the mainstream thought BTC was a scam or something and due to this BTC had enough time to get bigger, get stronger, more secure, to become the BTC that we know today. It's no matter if you find a technic which is quite better or faster than BTC. Rich people can destroy you, the government can shut you down, you are easy to attack. Is there a better technique than BTC? Maybe yes. Can someone replace BTC? Clearly Not.

In terms of Blockchain  and technology Bitcoin is Old?
Oldest.

The ethereum and other new ones use better technology?  Im correct or not?
Absolute nonsense. Shitcoins and all their claims got nothing on Bitcoin's security.

Do you think that bitcoin technology is Old and need some renovation?
No, no, and no. Sound money remains sound money. The rest are mostly children acting as developers playing with fancy toys. Yes, this includes everyone working on Shitereum.  Wink
