There are definite short comings of Bitcoin, and whether Satoshi was aware of that, and was going to address them later remains to be seen. However, its most likely that he hadn't come up with solutions to some of the issues that exist in Bitcoin today, and was possibly hoping for others to contribute, and come up with solutions, which you could partly argue happened.

Bitcoin is a game-changer type of a technology. The technology behind it can be simple on the surface but its applications can be far, wide ang long range. Just a little more than a decade after its debut to the world, Bitcoin has proven to be a valuable digital asset that is now being adopted by big institutions at at least one country that is about to make it a legal tender. We are hoping to deepen our understanding on things related to Bitcoin so we can understand it more. Of course, as a disruptor there will be forces that can be working to derail its full potential and right now these forces are very active these days so we can expect Bitcoin to be spurned, criticizes and even maligned but at the end of the day it will survive with flying colors.
