Even if you do nothing else for security, rename your wallet.dat file to something else when the Bitcoin client is not running.

In my blog stats, I've had terms "wallet.dat virus" wallet.dat steal" "steal wallet.dat" "wallet.dat stealing" "wallet.dat location" "free wallet.dat bitcoin" "Where is the wallet.dat file"

- the most common of all terms by far being simply "wallet.dat"

looks like someone identified malware than steals your wallet.dat, with only few scanners detecting it:
