Bitcoin isn't. It might be the stepping stone to whatever the Mark is, but it still isn't. Smiley

Bitcoin may be the mark of the beast. Question is...
When?

Certainly now, it is not, so until such a time as it becomes the mark, I see no problem in using it -.-

If every new thing were to become the mark of the beast just because it is new then pfft: you should be living in the stone age.

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

This is the verse that is often told as a one world government and currency, as you can see this is a pretty brutal interpetation and is reaching. The issue is that a few churches taught it and it spread like a wivestale and it isn't very fair to see. Many people i talk to have brought up the "one world currency" and antichrist thing when I speak about bitcoin, actually it seems like it would be impossible to bitcoin since there is no central authority and they couldn't force a mark to allow transactions.

Just tell them that Bitcoin is not owned by anyone or any government and it is really wise for Christians to buy some because of that.  Just my two cents here.

We have had this discussion before.

Of course Bitcoin is not the mark.  It is not controlled by anyone or anything and in fact could in a way be considered the antithesis of what the mark will be.

I believe though that it is because of Bitcoin's future success, or a cryptocurrency of some sort, that a mark will become mandated on everyone to keep track of who is buying and selling.  Governments do not like losing control and will have to come up with a way to regain the lost control when the people start to utilize crypto in mass.

it's the mark of the beast, unless you want to send them bitcoins in exchange for their endorsement, which they would happily oblige.

Bitcoin isn't the mark of the beast.

there's a video of someone explaining his version on why it isn't

Edit: found it http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=010BEMNU

Shame. I was hoping it is. Bitcoin could only go up with the support of Satan.

Oh well...

That is apparently what Catholic Online is saying. The usual "New World Order" nonsense. http://www.catholic.org/news/business/story.php?id=54795

Catholics should know, considering the pope is the Antichrist.
