Thank you guys

I checked everything I though i could before I came here, I even had my brother walk into their office in NYC (as he works there), the company seems legit, and they're website makes no mention of Bitcoin trading. The company contacted me for a job they posted online, and it sounded modest not TOO good to be true, so i followed through. The red flag for me was the mention of Bitcoin and my bank account, but the strangest thing is, the website the brick and mortar location and even the phone numbers do correspond to the people I am in contact with through email.

So I do not think I will continue with this, its just more puzzling now...

Was it impersonation of a legit company? Or is there an organized front for a scam going on in NYC seeking out international third parties for Bitcoin fraud....

Wouldn't put it past new york.

There is no reason why you should be accepting a business's deposits into your personal bank account. At best they are operating questionable accounting practices and laundering money through your bank account, more likely they are trying to scam you.

Anytime something sounds too good to be true it probably is.

If you take advantage of this "opportunity" there is a 99%+ chance of you ending up loosing money.

Do you have any idea why a company would trust some random person with their money in a way you are describing?

Is there anyway to force payments to be made non ACH?

Its sounding more and more like I shouldn't do this. It didn't seem too too good to be true, but it did seem fishy.

An ACH deposit is essentially a check. The payment can be reversed for the same reasons a check can be reversed. A third party can initiate an ACH transaction into a bank account so it is possible the owner of the bank account doesn't even know anything about the transaction until they see a strange transaction on their bank statement.

Banks tend to be pretty lax in their hold policies for ACH deposits, probably because few people tend to deposit ACH transactions that eventually get reversed so yes the funds probably will be available in your account soon after your bank receives notification of the transaction.

Thank you for a prompt response.

So its basically an ACH?

They'll send my account money then i send it off to them, then they reverse a payment?

How can they reverse a payment into my bank account? Once its deposited (via e-transfer) isn't it there immediately? I am aware of kiting but I do not see how this would work here as of yet. Please enlighten me before I screw myself. I still hope that this is somehow legit as the commissions are decent.

Note: The company did not ask me for my bank account details, the transactions are to be done via interac e-Transfer. We are in Canada is that matters for legal or banking issues.

Defiantly a scam. The ACH payments will not be from real customers and will most likely get reversed. There is no reason why their customers can't deposit into the company's bank account.

This is actually a variation of a scam that banks train their front end staff to be on the lookout for and to warn their customers if they think they are about to fall victim.

Hello,

I have recently been asked by a company to do "Online Order Processing" for them and they claim to be in the business of promoting and marketing Bitcoins. What they're asking of me is to receive payment from their customer in my bank account, then confirm the amount with them. Then I deposit the amount into a "deposit trader account" for them to receive the Bitcoin (from god knows where).

I am just wondering if I am vunerable to an ACH attack or liability in money laundering in such a scenario. Or am I just being targeted to be the pawn or identity to someone else ripping someone else off.

I am trying to read up and catch-up on everything that has changed in the Bitcoin world, transactions can be so complex. Do commissions on providing this kind of service I'm talking about exist? Or am I being strung along somehow? I always thought these transactions went through exchanges instead of third parties...

I cannot find anything about the company that contacted me regarding bitcoins, the seem to purely be a marketing company, the whois of their website is not private and they are contactable by phone, but I'm just reaching out to see if this kind of thing is legit or not.
