lol i do laugh at peoples utopian dream...

you do realise these microgrids only really work between next door neighbours or a closely build street... not meant for national usage..

so the idea of a mining farm, selling electric to other miners................... yea good luck with that 200-2000mile electrical extension cable.

i would have ranted on about 10 other little pitfuls. but im laughing too much

Bitcoin Millionaires Should...

...I think it would maybe be a good time for you creative folk to...

then maybe it's time for the btc millionaires to...

There's a whole lot of telling other people what they should be doing in here.

Why not just produce your own electricity.

exactly!

from the OP:  The P2P Energy grid is a concept whereby any home could produce its own energy, using renewable energies like solar energy, and sell its surplus to others who need it.

... and it would be awesome to see a bitcoin mining company that is fully self sufficient producing it's own power.  and even better.. it sells its surplus power to other miners.
Imagine the benefits... Woah...

That would definitely help along the ecosystem, especially if people are nice enough to charge $0.02-0.04 less than what electricity companies would charge. Everyone would save money!

And it would bring the government swooping down like a hawk, since we're no longer relying on their utilities... "It's not safe!" etc.

Oh, how that would really start to piss the centralized system off. I love it  Grin

These ideas are great. They problem is that the technology simply isn't there yet. In my area we are forced to subsidize windmill power. The ugly windmills that ruin the view of the mountain tops around my town run at about 30% capacity over 50% of the time. We actually end up paying more for our power to support these wind mills.

then maybe it's time for the btc millionaires to band together and fund an R&D team for it and start a p2p electricity industry and diversify.

Yes, when the sun isn't shining at your house, maybe it's shining on another house nearby.

Good idea! P2P and decentralization is powerful, which collect every peer's energy. It will reduce the volume of large power- generating plant  consuming a lot of coal and nuclear. And it will reduce the effect to environment

Woah woah woah, is the entire world going back and applying things we learned in kindergarten? Are we really learning to share our things, and not centralise them? About time Smiley

I have to admit, this is a really good idea. Just expect waterway a to become packed with hydro-electric generators, which may be a good or bad thing. However, this for of distribution is a very good idea. It allows for people to make a bit more of an income on excess electricity, helps benefit the environment, and helps to minimise the disruption blackouts cause.

I support this, and I think it would maybe be a good time for you creative folk to start designing hydro, wind or solar energy producers, as you could make a killing if you can sell your design.

I love the idea, when do we start it? Distributed is always superior to centralize.

P2P Energy Grid

The P2P Energy grid is a concept whereby any home could produce its own energy, using renewable energies like solar energy, and sell its surplus to others who need it.

"Microgrids are “a collection of small generators for a collection of users in close proximity,” explains Dr Markvart, whose research appears in the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Ingenia magazine. Microgrids’ premise is that electricity demand is split up and shared around the network of users, much like BitTorrent file sharing. “This microgrid appears to the larger grid as if it’s any other customer. And it can quickly switch between operating on and off the grid: when the grid offers cheap electricity, the microgrid can purchase it, but if prices rise or there’s a power failure, the microgrid can isolate itself. ” (http://www.ivanenviroman.com/2007/03/08/microgrids-are-p2p-electricity/)
