Great App. I use it every day to see the new news.
We're working on adding a widget in, update should be in this week!
I just get a black screen.
What device are you using, and are you using EDGE, 3G, 4G, or WiFi to retrieve news?

is it a battery drainer like other news-pulling apps or is it rather conservative? "usually offline" is my preference 
It is usually offline. We are planning on implementing a widget that would be available for an Android home screen, but this would be an on-demand feature you have to enable manually.
@gellimac we have to make our money somewhere. We have toyed with the idea of offering in-app upgrades to remove advertisements as well as explored the thought of other feature adds.
