Although I run a node as well and so do any others, they are not registered for the bitnodes giveaway.

The incentive they are talking about, is too low, $30 maximum per week.... so what is the catch in it ?

you only need 1.3GB of storage to run a bitcoin node and support the network !
Now running a node is easy! But the problem is that the number of nodes is impacted by the bitcoin price! When the price is on the uptrend, so-called bitcoin believers will have incentive to run a node!

How is price of bitcoin giving an incentive to run a node ? (Unless you are a miner). If you are non miner , you are not directly getting any BTC by running a node.

Was just checking list of bitcoin nodes at https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/leaderboard/
and was suprised to see a bitcoin node from India at rank 2 !  This node has very good connectivity . Anyone want to come forward and take credit for hosting this node ?  Smiley I am willing to tip them 0.0001 BTC !

We have total 38 bitcoin nodes https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/leaderboard/?q=india . Much behind United States and China , but we are getting there !

Please note that after the latest commits http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/33oz97/just_merged_pruning_support_in_bitcoin_core_run_a/
you only need 1.3GB of storage to run a bitcoin node and support the network !

Also bitnodes has an incentive of payouts for new nodes.
