Yes, I hope this can increase the price of Bitcoin in the future, because I see this year there are many large companies that will come to join the Blockchain, on the other hand now the price of Bitcoin is decreasing so the presence of large companies that will use Blockchain is expected to be more many investors will buy Bitcoin.
Which company do you mean? The use of blockchain technology will not have an effect on the increase in the price of bitcoin. it is part of a different technological discovery and different benefits.

although it does not have an impact on the increase in the price of bitcoin but I think with the existence of good issues like this will be able to increase more people who invest in bitcoin and the blockchain technology that will be brought in will be followed by other companies.
as we know that bitcoin and blockchain technology are both interrelated and can't be separated, because bitcoin runs in its own blockchain technology and any company that uses its technology inevitably must also carry bitcoin into it according to its function.

Wuabit is a cryptocurrency wallet accessible via a chat interface in WhatsApp. The developers describe it as 'software agent' powered by specialised AI. Users simply type in commands like 'send 0.05BTC to Vera' and Wuabit will send the cash. By using a service as popular as WhatsApp, Wuabit hope to propel crypto payments further into the mainstream.

“We are near completing the wallet core service starting with BTC.

“By using WhatsApp/SMS/Telegram you can access that wallet easily.

The public beta is due to start next month.

Access your wallet from whatsapp? How about, i don't know, using a proper wallet instead? All i see here is adding more vectors for thieves to get your funds. So this is a type of online wallet but rather than using a browser you use an IM client... Hmm no thanks. And don't get me started on SMS.

Good way of using crypto, tho it is still bad when it comes to urgent transactions since there is still a huge problem when it comes to transactions and paying so much fees are not too good in any type of business.

If people think they will be able to hide BITCOIN transactions by using WhatsApp, they are very mistaken.
Just the other night I saw a company , cant recall the name, that sells technology to govs for spying abilities.
There really is no such thing as encrypted phone conversations.  The gov will track your messages/transactions if they really want to.

Lol of course you can't hide bitcoin transactions on whatsapp. you can however used dummy accounts and still be able to hide your identity

it will be an easy and effective method of sending money. hopefully sms, skype, telegram, and whatsapp, commonly used for coin transfers. I believe that, gradually, the entire world will switch to cryptocurrencies. ''let's see if our dreams will come true'' Smiley
of course this is an effective promotion in my opinion, by providing these facilities on WhatsApp. people will know the effectiveness of sending money for various transactions, and finally use it

ya i also read the news it is good for crypto space that a giant app like whatsapp is introducing crypto wallet functionality but we already seen it in past in some project such as byteball where it has similar  chat coin transfer feature but i think it will be good if they built a separate payment architecture just for payment just to ensure further security.

With this, I still doubt the security, the messaging application is still a lot of bugs and this can be a problem in the future, let alone Whatsapp. I think I might keep the Private Key away from this application. As long as i still comfortable to use MyEtherWallet to access my balance, i think thats fine

Seriously guys? Again and again, with all the fake news like of Samsung adopting BTC BMW adopting BTC ?

It's not WhatsApp doing anything!!!

Quote
Wuabit is an independent crypto-startup, non affiliated/connected with WhatsApp Inc in whatsoever manner despite its business API integration

Quote
Spain-based independent startup Wuabit aims to launch limited public beta of its crypto wallet for popular messaging app WhatsApp in April, the company’s co-founder and CEO/CTO Manuel Polo told Cryptonews.com.

Moreover, in mid-April, the startup will announce its roadmap in more detail as it plans to offer the same service to the users of other messaging apps such as Telegram and Facebook Messenger. Also, Wuabit aims to support sending and receiving cryptocurrencies through SMS.

Quote
Still, Facebook, owner of Whatsapp, and Telegram may not even be aware of this new service that is coming. “We have no talks with [them], only using their API [application programming interface] integrations available now,” Polo explained. This is similar to users building apps for the Android operating system - there is no need to contact the phone manufacturer or anyone else for permission, and the app is not necessarily endorsed by the platform it appears on.

https://cryptonews.com/news/wuabit-to-bring-crypto-to-whatsapp-is-in-talks-with-investor-3589.htm

Oh god, it's a damn start-up that plans on piggybacking on WhatsApp infrastructure without their consent.
How long do you think it will take before lawsuits start flying and they are shut down?

even if this project run I am sure this service will not be available worldwide. because crypto services or digital transactions in some countries clearly prohibit (banned) cryptocurrency in various forms. WA messaging have been known for free with no ads services. if there is a crypto service in WA service is that not a contradiction. in this case am sure this service is just looking for popularity is not really true working on this platform.

I really don't like this cause I feel it will have more negative effects than the positive effect. If something like this will every be created,  then more security features should be added on Whatsapp but since it's owned by Facebook and the decision on implementing Bitcoin. I don't think the security issue may be fix. Locking your Whatsapp app with app locks is not full security feature.
Yes right, Bitcoin users certainly have to maintain their valuable assets, so that application companies that adopt Bitcoin must have good security features, so that there is no hacking or bad things about user assets.
When you are under to every centralized system there's no full security for you here it's just they are the ones that are capable of making securing you from anyone. But on the other hand, if their security system is not that strong then your personal details may be in danger situation because it might fall to the wrong hand and could use your personal info against you.

Good news for bitcoin. More and more uses of bitcoin are now coming, its just a matter of time for bitcoin to have another kick again. Little by little it is having roots and it will not be easy to uproot bitcoin then besides, whatsapp is a known friendly and widely used application so it will be easy for beginners to get used to it.

first its on kakaotalk and now its on whatsapp , whats next fb messenger  ?  its really nice to see that bitcoin and other cryptos are now  partnering with popular platform because this can evenly help the adoption of cryptos to become more wide spread .

maintain where ? inside the app/whatsapp ?  and whats the connection of storing bitcoins inside their app from having a good security measure ? but no matter how solid the platforms security , there are still hackers that can bypass it  . that is why i dont recomend someone to store alot of bitcoins on such popular app like this  .

.
Yes, the level of security that must be considered before the news continues to be real, it's about assets or bitcoin that are valuable and must have very strong security to stay awake.
the popularity of bitcoin or cryptocurrency is increasing and more and more want to get involved or join to adopt without thinking about the level of security, and what we know is that every social media network is very easy to hack.

I believe this would literally change the world. Think about it, sending money wherever you are from and just with a click of a button, hell make it so whatsapp allows it themselves instead of using like wuabit or whatever.

Whatsapp could make a lot of money with this idea, I don't know how and I don't know the execution of such project but if you would allow people to send and receive bitcoin via whatsapp that easily that it will change the world. I mean think about it that would mean people could accept bitcoin in many more stores because all you have to do is send money to the shop owner via whatsapp and you are done.

This is not just "send money to friends" type of deal, the shop owners could make QR on their whatsapp and accept payments so much more easily, its literally a genius move.

This is a good direction for mass adaption and gaining interest into bitcoin and crypto in general. I guess most of the guys outhere are still sceptical about bitcoin. the parabolic rise and slowly decrease of the value wasn't the best way to get popular but in a few years.... it will be forgotten Cool

They don't want to be left behind by the rise of cryptocurrency wave. Actually, I was expecting them to be the frontrunner of this crypto revolution as they encompass a big market already. But then, new crypto users should know how to handle the security of their accounts, else, there will be stealing of funds, left and right. But of course, this is still good news for old crypto users. This might expand the usage of crypto faster and eventually contributing to the steady increase of bitcoin's price.  Grin

Facebook indeed have what Bitcoin as a whole pack in general - market penetration. I'm skeptical bout FBcoin but Snapchat introducing BTC payments meant more people being familiarized with the concept. I haven't used Snapchat but I'm assuming it already have a fiat wallet. If they'd allow users to convert using the app, then a lot of people could be buying their first sats through it.

I see no innovation or exciting stuff happening here.

IMO the exciting part is that it's targeted directly to the mainstream. UX has always been lacking on Bitcoin's part because people would rather not bother learning new methods to pay. If there's a service that can handle all of that behind the scenes, and it's integrated into an app that ~1 billion people already use, it could mean a lot for adoption. Lightning could be in the pipeline too, from what I've seen.

But yeah, execution is key in the end. We'll see how they handle it.

Very interesting because KaKaoTalk a mobile instant messaging application for smartphones based in South Korea is integrating crypto wallets as well. So it's going to be interesting as a lot of messaging apps is also moving toward accepting crypto. So competition is getting stiff out there in the messaging apps world, but it will benefit all crypto enthusiast, another win situation for all of us.

I see no innovation or exciting stuff happening here.

These are the sort of features that have to be built on Lightning for super fast and cheap payments. Building on the main-chain is completely unnecessary when it comes to low value transactions, which is what WhatsApp and similar apps stimulate.

The number of main-chain transactions I send have fallen to a yearly low since I manage to get quite some things done with Lightning, and with the growing adoption in that field there is less incentive for me to switch to the main-chain unless I have to use BitPay's gateway or send out higher value transactions.

Bitrefill is an excellent Lightning merchant and so far my favorite.

To people saying Facebook is entering crypto just because of this news, you need to slow down. Wuabit is a chat bot that works (or would work in the future) on multiple IM apps, and it's not owned by Facebook.

Sure there are privacy concerns, and maybe some technical kinks here and there, but I think this is a pretty cool concept. You're only supposed to use these for small transactions anyway. It might also turn out to be a new and effective way for merchants to accept Bitcoin payments.

Good thoughts. Wuabit wants to begin his public beta next month so we will know more how it works. It can be really cool if combined with LN. Wuabit will start with btc ,they want to add more coins after
Whatever to think it will serve crypto currencies mass adoption and will make people more aware of crypto currencies

No that’s not true, I know what’s app is not for free it is dependent but still there are so many other uses, we can use it only to promote bitcoin, not only facebook but so many other website who are using for promotion of bitcoin, we can invite our friends to buy and invest in bitcoin because the price is really affordable.

I can't expect more for that because the market is very different I don't know to go here, I hope it's very far from what is already there to penetrate the market further than now, I also can't wait to see how this project develops to develop it, security must be highly recommended because sometimes whatsapp security is very doubtful about security, which is very vulnerable to hacking, which is a very important problem, hopefully it can be fixed.

Maybe just issue for making bitcoin investor panic with moment where many created with new own crypto like facebook and whatshap, I think they are only giving bad news and never make it come true for several year later.
I think you misinterpreted the ops what he is saying is that WhatsApp is going to support the sending of bitcoin on it platform that is to say having a build in wallet on your WhatsApp. That will be great and am hoping to see the technicality that will be adopt and used in developing this.

Eh, this doesn't strike me as anything close to revolutionary, although it's definitely good to see crypto get some promotion this way.

What it reminds me of is when car companies were including satellite radio receivers in their cars, which gave Sirius/XM Radio investors tons of false hope about satellite radio adoption--and it didn't really take off like everyone hoped.  I've never used whatsapp, but even if everyone else does I'm wondering if people are going to find bitcoin to be useful or just a novelty.  I'm guessing they still will prefer using fiat when they have to pay for something, regardless of how convenient any company makes it to use bitcoin.  But I'll wait and see.

People are happily embracing the digital payment methods and crypto is also added as one of the digital payment methods for them.
Only hindrance I see in adoption is its volatility and somewhat long confirmation time.

If they partner up with Facebook & Co. and create a nice hype, this could actually lead to new money flowing into the market.
Though, they need to prove their achievements first - this is only rumors; buy it, and sell the news later!  Wink

It's already owned by Facebook IIRC.
With the fund use to maintain whatsapp not coming from any advertisement without doing further research he ought to have know that facebook and whatsapp actually belong to the same person. Besides, the news about the two platform implementing of crypto currency even proof it and will definitely open doors for new surge in price and money  Wink

On the other, I know how popular WA is, not just in Asia but in Europe... letting people just easily send BTC over it could be a huge boost for utility - it might actually take actual traffic away from Bitcoin network though, unless the app also integrates LN (oh wouldn't that be cool!).
I'm from Europe myself and can tell you that WA is super popular over here. I honestly don't know anyone aside from elderly people who aren't using it, but they don't even use email and other applications we can't live without today. Cheesy

I don't know how popular Bitcoin payments will be when implemented, but this is quite a positive development considering the billions of people who are using WA almost on a daily basis.

Back when I started here I could only dream of this, and Bitcoin was still more or less that speculative investment people thought could go to zero overnight. Barely anyone aside from skeptics think Bitcoin will go to zero anymore.

I'm still not really sure where I stand with these sort of apps. On one hand I don't like that it's so easy to send my BTC out, I suppose this means giving the API access to my private keys somehow (or perhaps just never having control of it on the wallet app).

These big institutions are taking down decentralization gradually. Cryptocurrency was built on decentralization with the intention of giving the user absolute control over their transactions and to also keep the identity of senders and receivers anonymous. Anyway, cryptocurrency will gain new attention because WhatsApp will create additional awareness creation.
What if it is not what you think? in the Blockchain you has an address that belongs to you, so you can track and receive BTC from it. And when you use this address on whatsapp which you register with your own number, will you still be able to protect your identity?

Surprising news
Wuabit is a cryptocurrency wallet accessible via a chat interface in WhatsApp. The developers describe it as 'software agent' powered by specialised AI. Users simply type in commands like 'send 0.05BTC to Vera' and Wuabit will send the cash. By using a service as popular as WhatsApp, Wuabit hope to propel crypto payments further into the mainstream.

“We are near completing the wallet core service starting with BTC.

“By using WhatsApp/SMS/Telegram you can access that wallet easily.

The public beta is due to start next month.

Combining fiat/crypto wallets with Messenger apps like Whatsapp is the next big digital trend.
If this project is successful, this will be a huge breaktrough for bitcoin.
Replacing all that copy pasting of long wallet addresses, always looking for a mistake to avoid, with simple commands will make cryptocurrencies so much more user-friendly.
I will keep an eye on this project for sure.

And in this way they will be able to easily find out who sent money to whom. We all know whatsapp is being followed by legal forces. It is not about technology, it is about our declining freedom.

WhatsApp was controlled buy America so easily they attack the personal information and crypto transaction. My suggestion is combined wallet is never useful in this platform because anytime our money will be stolen in Whatsapp. All are never encourage this idea so it will not survive in future.

I am tired of reading mainstream news.
I really don't think that this is going to benefit us at all. It will just be a mainstream move in order to impress the users that use WhatsApp.
Using Telegram is safer than using Whatapp and I will keep using it.
Probably true and I wonder how is the private keys owning problem handled by them.
No privKey control, that's what I suspect. In such case, this going to be a piece of crap and I will always warn people of this.
Be careful folks, Zuc needs your money!

Most popular messengers are aiming to create their own currencies (probably stablecoins). In this case 3rd party wallet doesn't seem so attractive if there will be an original wallet for WhatsApp currency. Also they may find a way to disable any extra wallets in their messengers.
Anyway, a wallet in a messenger doesn't seem good unless it is needed for something and you are getting benefit for using it.

They wanted to do something similar in a telegramm, but so far around GRAM there is a lot of hyip, but the product has not been released. Although almost a year announced a fantastic ICO. How many applications for participation were received, but so far the project has not been released, and there is no news about the project implementation. I do not know if whatsapp will succeed in creating the really necessary product that people will use. So far we have heard a lot of statements from various projects, but we don’t see the realization of ideas. Only promises to realize them. Everyone has become accustomed to this.

Guess the Zucc is trying to cover all bases. Facebook coin on FB, Bitcoins on WhatsApp.

Either way, that's more options for people. I don't see any problems with this, so long as people ensure not to link their personal btc addresses to these apps.

If they partner up with Facebook & Co. and create a nice hype, this could actually lead to new money flowing into the market.
Though, they need to prove their achievements first - this is only rumors; buy it, and sell the news later!  Wink

It's already owned by Facebook IIRC.

Oh, my bad. Thanks for the clarification!

Grin

We see about Wuabit, one of the most important things is security, everyone is sure to question this. Whatsapp does look easy and simple and this is a big challenge in technology.

There isn't any talk about security, I think users must be limited in sending and there must be pin/sms verification on sends over 50$ or something similar.
On another hand they could also work on not any 3rd party wallet but on already integrated wallets, for example I mean samsung which plans to produce smartphones with built in bitcoin wallet. If they want to use Wuabit, I think users must have option to use another, already integrated wallet.

They should reinvent the command of sending and just use the traditional way of inputing the receivers bitcoin address instead of putting a command of 'send to'.

Overall, the news is good but yeah this;
Downside is that WhatsApp is owned by Facebook

Meaning, facebook is sure to adopt crypto.

Ah, this will be a good move because WhatsApp now has 1.5 billion users and sees 60 billion messages sent per day.

The Social media online payment networks are becoming very popular lately, so a WhatsApp payment option would be a good push for Bitcoin, if the wallet service can guarantee good security and support.  Roll Eyes

Well it's great to see such a big company want to adopt bitcoin and surely it could bring a positive impact to crypto, but I wonder what would happen to the countries that banned bitcoin, it sure going to be a big challenge, but hopefully this news is true so we are more and more toward mass adoption

That's a step ahead in the crypto wallet that we use at the moment. Bitcoin getting integrated will take time, this seems to get developed on the same platform as whatsapp. With this app into usage more common people too might begin using bitcoin, but how realistic this gonna grab the market is still unknown as it serves same as an exchange.
