Wow! Neat idea.

I have a love/hate relationship with media that poses more questions than answers.  Undecided

This link just gives me a bit picture that says this video is private... am I not part of the cool club?

Hmmm, "some things do change". Perhaps, "the machines" did not like bitcoiners watching that stuff and taken it down.

this is the same video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZlAhdz_ei8

Thanks!  Watched it, but don't really have any comments. ciao

That choice is only an illusion is only one of many philosophical points of view (Laplace's demon, Determinism).

Even if this world is a simulation, actors like us still may develop momenta unforeseen by the programmers.

That's it, enough of you, I'm switching you off now  Grin

Wow!

Also, while it may or may not be relevant to the Philo of Bitcoin, I highly recommend everyone read Plato: The Symposium.

Its really a staple of modern philosophy concerning itself at one level with the genesis, purpose and nature of love,

I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary while it was commenting on the first and the second matrix movie. I could not for the love of me get my head around the third part's interpretations so that was a bit of a let down. But over all a very intriguing documentary and I'm thankful to the person who posted the link in that other thread last night.

If you want to explore further, I can recommend this collection of essays: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Matrix-Philosophy-Welcome-Popular/dp/081269502X/  Before reading, note that it was published prior to any of the sequels.

One of the most profound questions a mentor of mine, who's no longer among us, continually asked me was, "Why does JELL-O® do what it does?" A couple years passed when one day I was in a discussion with him about some now unknown topic. At one point, I finished speaking, whereupon he stated, "Now, you know why JELL-O® does what it does." (perhaps paraphrased)

Since then, I've been at a lost as to what I was taught though, at the time, I experience an "a-ha" moment. Can anybody here help me regain my departed friend's philosophical lesson?

Ha, that's nothing. I checked if a local Uni has any courses in Philosophy that I could take.  Grin

In some other thread I was referred to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q1jHx29C70
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZlAhdz_ei8 .

Quite fascinating, is it not? And do not tell me that this has nothing to do with Bitcoin.

Frenchy: Action, Reaction; Cause and effect...
Morpheus: Everything begins with choice.
Frenchy: No. Wrong. Choice is an illusion created between those with power and those without.

All those matrix movies and philosophical stuff generously sprinkled all over, it is all about Bitcoin somehow, I am sure.

"I do not know the future. I did not come here to tell you how it is going to end. I came here to tell you how it is going to begin". Neo.
