Mmm... I haven't tasted Pizzas since like last year when the pandemic started and I'm craving for pizzas, rolls and biriyani (an Indian dish) Tongue to think that guy paid 10k bitcoins for a pizza, when we can get 700 pizzas with 10k cute doge today Grin ah, sweet times, sweet history making, and couldn't be prouder to be a part of the community that's surely gonna change the world!

Pizza for bitcoins?  I see this post written in 2010. Was he the person who bought 2 pizza for 10,000 bitcoins ?

Quote
I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day.  I like having left over pizza to nibble on later.  You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!

I like things like onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, etc.. just standard stuff no weird fish topping or anything like that.  I also like regular cheese pizzas which may be cheaper to prepare or otherwise acquire.

If you're interested please let me know and we can work out a deal.

Thanks,
Laszlo

I also bought the pizza to celebrate the bitcoin pizza day. It was fun indeed.
I wonder if theymos could start some campaign to share the pictures for celebrating this day and award some satoshis to the best ones.  Smiley

Make sure it's Papa Johns and the soda should be Pepsi to stay true to the original 10k bitcoin pizza. I wasn't sure about the drinks though. I might do some celebration too in tonight's dinner.

I wish there's Papa John near with me and I'd be glad to take those free slices of Pizza.

I wish I could have celebrated the bitcoin pizza day 2140.
See you around then Grin We may not know if Bitcoin will cease to exist that day but I hope you future 2140 lads should make it memorable since that will be the last year Bitcoin will be mined.

I forgot this memorable day. Just as we say when somebody asks about investing in bitcoin, it's never too late to celebrate to. A simple celebration, I'll purchase two pizzas but I won't spend my bitcoins on it.  Tongue
The market seems to be down and I'd choose to hold it first before spending again. That's still a celebration that's worth to take later on, I'd sure to get the delivery of two pizzas.

It is surely a very meaningful day for Bitcoin's history. Unfortunately, I won't be able to celebrate this great day as there is no pizzeria around me which accepts Bitcoin as a payment method. But I hope to do it next time.  Grin

No way I can pay with BTC either but I had visited the best pizza maker in my local town today and had the best pizza here although I had to force them to have the bitcoin logo designed in my pizza. They refused to design the logo but I had too many requests to have the design although I haven’t said what's the logo all about.
I wish I could have celebrated the bitcoin pizza day 2140.

What are your plans for bitcoin pizza day this year?
The usual; Order some pizza and paint the word "10,000 BTCitcoin" with some ketchup on it Cheesy
- I would've loved to be able to order some using my own BTCitcoins but none of the restaurants around here accept it [unfortunately].
- I'll upload some pics tomorrow...

I tested this out for them a couple weeks ago and was able to pay before hanging up. Let me know if you have any questions on how this works.
I'm not sure if you documented the whole process but it'd be nice to show others parts of the process [if you decide to do it again].

I didn't document the most recent process, but I made a video of last year's Bitcoin Pizza Day at a different restaurant: https://youtu.be/0Sau_2JKzQg

Firstly to correct you it was not 10k or $10k but he was offering 10,000 bitcoins for two large pizzas.
Of course, yes. 10k stands for 10,000. That was the sense I used it in shortened form. Sorry, if it caused any confusion. Again, about Laszlo, I don't expect him to make an open declaration of his regrets before I know he feels it. He's a man who owned up his action and didn't sob over spilt milk. I like his courage for the fact that he chose history over wealth and posterity will ever be kind to him.

I bet that any time there is a mention of the 10k for two pizza stuff, that dude who actually did that transaction will feel sad and remorseful, expectedly. I don't even want to do the calculation with the current BTC value to know what he should be worth. No matter how anyone wants to argue it that such an incident with the Bitcoin pizza dude patriotically kicked off the first transaction on the Blockchain, I believe there will always be an element of regret for that seller.

Firstly to correct you it was not 10k or $10k but he was offering 10,000 bitcoins for two large pizzas.Although it contributes huge at this time and anybody would have regret of making such mistake but "Laszlo Hanyecz" the Bitcoin pizza man have no regrets for making that transaction which values in millions today. This was his official statement when asked about this incident:

Quote
“It was a really interesting system but nobody’s using it,” he said. “If nobody’s using it, it doesn’t matter if I have it all.”

So there are many users who have lost their funds in bitcoin with lost keys or hard drives mislplacing but depends on you whether you have regret for that or not.

On the other hand, I like the idea of people trying to recreate places and businesses that accept Bitcoin and spread the message around. We need this awareness at a time such as this day when fudders are trying to push Bitcoin down and crash its price.

Didn't celebrate in the past but now that I am on a lockdown with this pandemic, I think that I might order two pizzas and have some soda for drinks. Just a little celebration won't hurt and if you have access to stocks of Pizza company, you might want to buy now since the prices might go skyhigh with people starting to notice this exclusive celebration.

Exciting that it falls on a Saturday!

I'm now up to two restaurants that accept bitcoin lightning network in my area.

I plan to get take out from SWAT Food Truck for dinner in Northfield, Ohio!

https://www.swatfoodtruck.com/

They use the kitchen at the VFW Post 6768.

8584 Olde 8 Rd Northfield, Ohio

If you're interested in ordering and paying using the bitcoin lightning network, call in your order and they can text you your lightning invoice. (The website is only setup for credit card payments... for now Wink)

I tested this out for them a couple weeks ago and was able to pay before hanging up. Let me know if you have any questions on how this works.

Happy early bitcoin pizza day!
