Like a german startup - Pey.de. Do you communicate with these guys?

I was not aware of them. Their UI for the wallet is nice and they seem to be working on a PoS (they call it payment terminal) solution as well.

I might contact them, thanks for the suggestion.

While I don't currently have a need for your app, I wanted to say good work. You found a problem and solved it instead of making a solution and looking for a problem it can solve.

Pretty Nice Initiative ! A few questions I'd like to throw, answer them if you want to!

Thank you patatas.

-How are you planning to make money ? Service charge ? App Maintainance ?

I am not planning to make money out of the app. It is open source for anyone to use or fork and modify to suit his/her needs.

-How can a customer pay for the purchases if the store is off-line ?

The merchant (using the BitcoinPoS app) needs to be online to get the currency exchange rates as well as check the bitcoin network for payments. The client (using any bitcoin wallet) needs to be online to send the payments (ie. transactions to a bitcoin node).

-How scalable is the "items section" on the app ? Big enough to run an entire bitcoin-based e-commerce site ?

The items section is currently a list so it might be cumbersome for lots of items. I have thought of adding categories and/or grid of items (instead of list) but the UI will be more complex so I avoided it for now until I get more feedback.

Hi all,

I run the Bitcoin meetups where I live and some of our members requested a Bitcoin PoS that is easy to use but also allows for pre-defined items.

I have created such an app and I would very much like your feedback / comments / experiences !

It is currently in beta so searching in the play store for "Bitcoin PoS" might not show it. To be safe use the opt-in url:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/gr.cryptocurrencies.bitcoinpos

Description / features:

This is a simple to use Bitcoin Point of Sale application for merchants who want to start accepting bitcoins in their stores/businesses. The app is intuitive to use and you only need to scan or paste a bitcoin address to start accepting payments.

Features:
- Easy to use user interface
- Cart functionality
- Merchants can pre-set items for selling
- Independent app / no login required
- Supports BIP 21 (Bitcoin URI scheme) / actually it requires BIP 21 for clients for better experience (most wallets support it by default anyway)
- Uses Yahoo's Finance API to get exchange rates
- Uses Blockr's API for accessing the Bitcoin network
- Allows export of transactional history to .csv to ease accounting
- Supports English and Greek languages
- Supports more than 45 currencies

It currently supports the following currencies: EUR USD, GBD, CNY, INR, JPY, RUB, ARS, AUD, BDT, BRL, CAD, XAF, DZD, CLP, COP, CZK, EGP, AED, GHS, HUF, IDR, IRR, ILS, KZT, KES, MYR, MXN, MAD, NZD, NGN, PKR, PEN, PHP, RON, SAR, ZAR, KRW, SDG, SEK, CHF, THB, TRY, UGX, UAH, UZS, VEF and VND.

If you are using another currency please contact me and I will add the currency required.

The project is open source (MIT License) and available at: https://github.com/karask/bitcoinpos . The repository can be used as a base to create more custom PoS solutions. Feel free to make pull requests to incorporate new features.
