Well those FUD and fake news are causing some panic to the bitcoin holders and some of them sold their bitcoins due to it. Even though bitcoin have grown so much in value since 2010 but there are still who said bitcoin is gonna die. Well those who always say that have bought bitcoin at a higher value and panicked when it dropped in value and sell their bitcoins. After that they will make comments that bitcoin is fraud and will soon be dead.

Now I get the fact that more than one of us really hates Bitcoin (segwit + lightning) behind what has been and is going on behind the scenes in terms of impetus for centralization and control - is felt and real. However, we must consider the fact that when we spread FUD about Bitcoin based on lies, we not only hurt those who hold Bitcoin and the Bitcoin ecosystem. With such actions, we hurt the holders of all cryptos and the crypto ecosystem as a whole. This is what the enemy wants from all of us, regardless of whether we're pro-Bitcoin or not, and I hope those who hate do not spread bad news about bitcoin.

"I am hoping that in terms of cryptos - our love for cryptos as a whole will reign supreme above our love/hate for any individual crypto." I wish everyone would have think like you.

I am not so surprised with the falling price of bitcoin. Even it was predicated earlier. The price of anything that goes higher early fall down in a same speed. And so as price of bitcoin is falling now. But truly I believe it will start to recover soon.

It is not surprising to see an army of trolls with relatively new accounts posting FUD about Bitcoin and in many instances outright fake news and lies. While this might be entertaining and accepted as normal by some, it is important to set the record straight as many people who are new to this market might be scared away for all the wrong reasons. We want the adoption rate of cryptos to grow, not to slow down to a crawl or risk halting it altogether. In addition, the current reality is that many people in this space are dependent on higher prices in order to run projects successfully. Yes, this space has development to a point where many people are dependent on cryptos for income.

That's always been the case, we will see constant FUD and paid schills around the forum, as much as we have them. The only way to at least do some damage control is to really be assertive most of the time. Specially the newbies who are really scared the minute they read negative news around.

Thus, for some perspective based on reality, given the current Bitcoin price level of around $7085 (at the time of creating this thread), the price of Bitcoin has increased with more than 9 000 000% since July 2010 ($0.08)) and with about 700% since the start of the bull market last year (2017).

You don't need to go that further. Just last year, the price of 1 BTC = ~$1000, move forward 2018, the price is $7000 is that's still a lot of you are going to asked me.

Now I get the fact that more than one of us absolutely hate Bitcoin (segwit + lightning) on the back of what has and is happening behind the scenes in terms of the push for centralization and control - perceived and real. However, we have to consider the fact that when we spread FUD about Bitcoin based on outright lies, we do not only hurt those who hold Bitcoin and the Bitcoin ecosystem. By such actions, we hurt the holders of all cryptos and the crypto ecosystem as a whole. This is exactly what the enemy of us all wants, regardless of whether we are pro-Bitcoin or not.

I don't hate Segwit and Lightning Network.

In addition, we don't need to entertain lies in order to advance better alternatives to Bitcoin. We can do it based on facts and in an honest manner. There is no need for shenanigans that harm the space as a whole.

This is a free market. Yes, we don't need to entertain because at the end of the time, all of us know that bitcoin will remain of top regardless of so many attempts to overtake it (flippening, rippening, remember?)

With the above being said, I am hoping that in terms of cryptos - our love for cryptos as a whole will reign supreme above our love/hate for any individual crypto. We must keep the Grande prize in mind, a world fuelled and driven by peer-to-peer decentralized applications, networks and ecosystems that enable peace, comfort, wealth, order and other positive things that are required for the advancement of humanity (and our survival).

I don't know man. When huge amount of money is involved, there will be lots of attempt from different camps to take over because of the potential money that anyone can earn. There are a lot of opportunistic entities behind, that will take everything if you blink.

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help create a world that is better for all of us. We must not mess it up, especially not on the back of selfishness, greed and a lack of knowledge.

I'm with you 100%. Let's help the market or the ecosystem by not selling the push button. But instead just take a good position today and stay for the long haul.

Thank you for your response. I agree with you for most part. I would like to add the following:

1. Just to clarify: I have used "absolutely hate Bitcoin (segwit + lightning)" as a choice of words that cover the most intense feelings against Segwit and the Lightning Network. It is not to say that I personally fall in that category either.

2. "This is a free market" - We can tell ourselves otherwise, but the signs are there that we're not dealing with a free market, otherwise the free market would have determined prices. E.g. https://medium.com/@super.crypto1/4th-dimension-bitcoin-manipulation-cartel-can-it-be-burnt-no-way-c53de65c166a and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfxQaVyxYRc When you look at the graphs and information presented, it is clear that the same modus operandi are used to manipulate and suppress prices in the crypto market as in the traditional markets.

If we want a truly free market, we will have to create and support decentralized, low friction, non-custodial token exchanges that only support on-chain transactions. This is needed for transparency, so that for one a mere promise of Bitcoin cannot be used to influence prices (e.g. derivatives such as futures and options). We also need to create and support services that only list prices of cryptos that are trading on such exchanges. We will have to reject exchanges and services that don't want to play ball. It will not stop price suppression and manipulation altogether, but it should level the playing field considerably.

3. "I don't know man. When huge amount of money is involved, there will be lots of attempt from different camps to take over because of the potential money that anyone can earn. There are a lot of opportunistic entities behind, that will take everything if you blink" - This is why we must embrace true crypto solutions that will help to level the playing field, making it virtually impossible for a single player or a select group of players to call the shots, especially when they attempt to call the shots on the back of a promise of Bitcoin.
