So long as manufactures can lower the cost of production for btc, it will continue to drop until it reaches production cost.

Altcoins are side branches in evolution. Their ideas will be used in Side Chains backed by bitcoins nearly  100%. You will pay a little to use the side chains for things like anonymity (where it's legal) or demurrage for shopping sprees. You won't ever be completely locked into them if they fail because there will be a protocol level mechanism for cashing out back into bitcoin.

In the past bitcoin was the only way to hide your wealth. Quite a lot did that. Quite a lot thought that bitcoin is fully anonymous and used it for illegal stuff. And got burned.

Now there are a lot of altcoins for all that, some of them much closer to 100% anonymous. A lot of "bytes" where to spread the wealth. So yeah, there's not much demand for bitcoin, the price falls.

Still, bitcoin is far from dead. And I don't think it will die soon. All the altcoins are bought and sold through bitcoin. There are very very few of them you can trade directly for fiat and usually the additional fees are bigger.

I think a lot of this stems from merchants dumping their bitcoins for fiat instantly on sale. We have more merchants than we did in the past and therefore more sell off which lowers the price. Hopefully bitcoin becomes more than a pathway to fiat for merchants which will increase its value and demand.

The problem is not with merchants selling btc, but rather that consumers are not repurchasing btc after spending it. The value of btc is in exchange, not in holding.

This is good for Bitcoin. We need to get a lot lower to shake out all the weak hands. Plus, lower prices means cheaper coins for us true believers! Imagine how many coins we'll buy if we ever go sub 100!!! We'll buy thousands of them! Then, when we drop below $50, we'll buy tens of thousands! Promise!!!

So you plan to buy a whole bunch of btc at $100 and then lose half its value at $50 to buy more?

The price is going down because traders are trading the crap out of btc. As soon as price goes up, they sell and then they buy back when the price drops!

Bitcoin is 500K-2M real users.  It'll be speculation until mainstreet comes in.  If they come in, it's all over the media for year(s) and yet nobody is feeling compelled to use it.

You are arbitrarily giving Bitcoin "a price", while Bitcoin has the price it deserves, what people want to give it. If you think Bitcoin is undervalued, sell at  above market price to try to drive the price up.

his real value is the trade price.

Try sell higher than the trade price or buy lower. You won't. So any real price that is not the trade price is fake price.

The fact that bitcoin hasn't rebounded yet does indicate that it could go down, possibly much more. I predict it will go below 300 next month, that would definitely open some eyes and start a buy trend.. but truthfully, i know nothing.

Supply and demand. The btc economy is small, there are more btc in circulation than are wanted by buyers. Simple as that. You could say btc is at its true value right now, but if more people use it in the future=higher valuation.

you gotta understand what happened in these past few years, esp for people to recover.

1) Dumb Mt. Gox (phantom deposits)
2) BTC e incidents (wire transfer delays and selective scamming)

It will drop back to prices way below $300.

I believe it's because BTC is in a transition stage.  More and more companies are accepting it and they have to pay employees and suppliers in fiat so they need to turn the BTC into cash as soon as it hit's their wallets.  So there is constant sell pressure from these companies and not enough people buying to make up the difference.  This will change soon enough though I think.  But... time will tell.

It will hit 250 by the end of the month im sure.

I'm bearish, but I doubt it will go that low in a week. There was a great deal of buying pressure that appeared when it went down to sub-300 briefly at the beginning of the month. I think it will test 300 again, but bounce up again. Just it wont bounce up quite as far as it did a week ago. That's my tuppence worth...

So your prediction is down in a never ending bear market. Meanwhile every other metric in the bitcoin world points the other way. At some point the two will collide Smiley

As the title says why bitcoin price is not rebounding ? It is not bouncing back to its original value. It still didn't reached the min 450$. I think now price will be steady at 380$.
Any reason why its not getting his real value after crashing?

The current price is always the real value. It is a price where both buyer and seller agree on being "fair".

We should be happy that bitcoin is now steadying at $380. I was a little worried when it hit below 350.

Agree, as long as its staying at least $380 it has high chance of going up...

But not over $420 so easily.

Because valuation changes constantly.

So far, Bitcoin had the fastest value appreciation of any asset I know. It's only fair to grant Bitcoin a break. I'm more confident than ever that Bitcoin is the future. Consolidation is a healthy process, because people's expectations have to cool down and there's a lot of things to do, before Bitcoin can enter the mainstream.

i've been dealing with bitcoin for almost 3 years and the only thing that I know for sure made bitcoin skyrocket was the success of SR back in  the day. Thats the only time I've ever been able to figure bitcoin out. One time Gavin anderson came and said that something exciting was about to happen to bitcoin to help stable the price, this was in the fall of 2012, i believe. Dont know what that news was supposed to be. Maybe it never materialized, but it got me all excited. Ive given up trying to figure bitcoin out. It will always drop and always go up. I just wish it would go up a little faster, lol..

Bitcoin is more stable than it was. The bubble cycles will be further apart and be more controlled.
Also, too many people are "expecting" it to go up. The universe then says "no" Tongue

We are currently in a slow trend reversal if you ask me.

Bitcoin will still be unstable as government continue to control and conquer bitcoin..

Because it has been compressed below the Middle 200day Bollinger Band for almost 17hrs. Volume is very low. Stochastic is on overbought levels for 8hrs.

1HR - Bitstamp

Price must break above both the 50MA and 200MA resistance with conviction in order for any meaningful rally to take place.

What is bitcoin's original value exactly? And the price did rebound, then went down a little, then up a little, then blah blah blah. Bitcoin does what bitcoin does - goes up and down. No point trying to find logic in it or reasons why it does what it does.

Usually value is what sellers and buyers decide on the exchanges. It seems your real value gets decided somewhere else.
