I cannot ascertain the reason, why our members still opting to sell Bitcoin to buy precious metals gold and silver, are we loosing our hope on Bitcoin, and it is sad to watch that Bitcoin has been used to mere exchange rather than showing any desire to spread this innovative digital currency technology in all financial sectors.

Cant we invest in both Bitcoin and precious metals?
A company like Kitco offering to accept bitcoin for precious metals is a clear cut step in a positive direction, but im very curious how you think this is not a positive thing.

IMHO once the masses start using BTC as an exchange, they will see the vast benefits it offers over cash and or debit transactions and then the flood gates open...you have to lay concrete before you build a house.

I think I'm developing a man crush on you. I couldn't agree more. The stupid turf war between goldbugs and Bitcoiners makes zero sense.

Sorry, but I can't take that seriously. Nobody is loosing hope just because he/she buys something with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a currency after all, currencies are meant to be exchanged for all kinds of things.

Precious metals and Bitcoin match up well, it's never wrong to have both. After all, Bitcoin is designed to resemble aspects of precious metals.

So Kitco offering price charts for Bitcoin is good news. Kitco accepting Bitcoin for precious metal sales would be even better news.

This is good news. Kitco is a very well-known site among buyers and sellers of precious and base metals.

Do you think that bitcoin should never be spent, or just that precious metals are not precious to you?

This is essentially showing that bitcoin is "backed" by precious metals at least as well as anything else.  To some people this shows a level of confidence in it that you don't get so much with other virtual currencies.

You do realize that gold and silver are still money to more people on planet Earth than is bitcoin, yes?

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
Odd that they would use localbitcoins as a part of their dataset for USD weighted average. LBC is always grossly overpriced.

Haven't seen this posted anywhere.

Nice to see bitcoin listed next to gold and silver.

It hasn't made it to their language-neutral API toolset yet.

For them this is beta testing.  They are looking for comments, maybe assistance.

It looks like they added Kraken exchange today.

Thank you for your email. In response to your inquiry, unfortunately for the time being, we cannot sell precious metals for bitcoins. We hope to have a system in place to do so in the near future.

"We hope" means that they are looking for some feasible ways to implement precious metals - bitcoin in the future, which is great imo.

Im going to send them an email about this now too.
Maybe once they see a steady stream of interest they will start taking this more serious.

Eventually it will land on the desk of someone who makes big decisions.
Lets put the pressure on to promote the benefits of bitcoin, one company at a time.

Click the Precious Metals link next to Currencies.

it will give the conversion rate of gold/silver etc to bitcoin but no you can not purchase from kitco using bitcoin.

no one said they accept bitcoin. it's just them displaying bitcoin price. i guess if they find it interesting enough at some point, they will accept it. but it's too early to say.

Certainly Kitco putting Bitcoin up on their site period, is the start of something really promising....
I would think that in the not so distant future we will be able to trade gold, silver for BTC and vice versa.
