maybe this drama will end, yesterday's battle will be over and bchsv will lose. hopefully this will be a good sign for bitcoin.
although there is no certainty whether the war on social media still continues between the two supporters. I want BTC to be stable again.

Be careful dude, from what I learned when the markets are "stable" for a moment... then the prices suddenly start to fall way hard

Just what I am thinking about. I believe that bitcoin  prices are being manipulated but I don't know how can they manipulate the market, that must be the person has so much power in crypto world.

It is simple they orchestrated news, some huge sell within themselves.  They often time it when there is some crisis or conflict within cryptocurrency that they think may affect bitcoin price.  This manipulators have huge stash of Bitcoin and/or huge fund to play the market.  It is not a single person I believe but rather groups of person that wanted to take advantage of high volatility of Bitcoin and the weak hands that bought Bitcoin during the hype.

It's a known and accepted fact that the price can be manipulated. There are people who have enough resources to affect the price on their whims. Pumps and dumps are easy examples of how these people or groups play with little fishes.

that's is true but what can we do? the markets are being manipulated since February 1815

Price manipulation can be done with Bitcoin since it is a decentralized currency. I can manipulate the price of Bitcoin if I have many money. I can join those manipulators to manipulate the price of it and nobody can stop us. I think what we must do in order to lessen or remove price manipulation is to spread the word to others. The small market cap of the cryptocurrency in general makes the market easy to manipulate its price.

Yeah, but what can we do?to do something we need all the people in the forum to hodl and maybe is not enough

It is impossible to manipulate the Bitcoin exchange rates. First of all, its market cap is quite large and any sort of manipulation will need to burn billions of USD in a few days. Also, there is no centralized system and the trading is occurring in thousands of exchanges which are decentralized.

That's true, but not entirely what you say is the truth. I think the decline that happened in the last few days is the cause because of the hard fork bch. and this news we already know, this is the impact that occurs because bitcoin is currently vulnerable to FUD especially for some actors who can shake the market.

It is not new that the prices were manipulated in crypto currencies because it is decentralized so who have large amount of cryptos to make a change in the supply and demand will bag profits but the thing is they can't manipulate if the investors don't react to the market changes and also forever because their holding will get diluted gradually when new people increase into the market.

Manipulation is manmade and this he can do for his own benefit. I tend to agree because man by nature is greedy and will always find a way to fend for himself. What I believe was the BCH double fork that produced BCHABC and BCHSV were responsible for the crash in bitcoin because there was a massive withdrawal of bitcoin to buy the new forked out coins and the pressure was much on bitcoin. It is still manipulation in a way.
Yes indeed, the pressure coming from those who dumped and control larger volume of Bitcoin can really create an impact to the entire market, every side of any industry's have there own versions of manipulations we cant deny the fact that we are also in the industry where greedy and wise businessman are gathered to control the market.

I think the cryptocurrency and bitcoin markets, are being manipulated a lot, this is also the reason that the SEC does not accept bitcoin ETF. This market can be manipulated because its volume is too small, to avoid manipulation we need to reach the capitalization of trillions of dollars.

A few people hold a lot of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
These people have a lot of money to manipulate the price. Unlike the regulated stock market, major shareholders need additional supervision and review.
There are no such rules for supervision and review in terms of cryptocurrency.

The possibility is that the bitcoin price is really manipulated today.
That's why the price dropped. Well, let's accept it and take advantage of the cheap bitcoin price. Because of the fact that when the bitcoin price rises we will also have a profit.
yes, the price is manipulated by some big whales but we do not know exactly who they are.

This is what happens, they manipulate well and shake this game so that many lose and lose a lot of money. A big risk is experienced and makes a dilemma, but this can be overcome and survived because it will not last long.

Yes, I think that volatility is short-lived and will end up with a high return. Let's just wait for that to happen, and I'm one of those who believe in it like you Grin. Let's see the final results with me.

There are always some sectors which try to manipulate the bitcoin prices. But they are not solely responsible for the rise and fall of bitcoin. They may, in fact, affect the bitcoin price partially but not totally.

I think bitcoin price is affected by our collective, not by anyone. It is because of the people in exchange for money and some others make the BTC price unstable and fall, I hate them people Angry.

Though bitcoin price has been manipulated since the first half of the year, but, after bitcoin cash hard fork bitcoin came down at 3400 USD and that doesn't seem appropriate! Something really happened by the whales or bitcoin cash! Crypto weak hands people are already left this place, now we need some big investors and holders and some good news to regain the pride!

There are reports that the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are manipulated by some big investors or whales and they are the reasons why the ecrypto market is in bearish situation until now. But I think the main reason in the continued downtrend of bitcoin might be a massive selling or dumping by some investors who are in a state of panic and want to cut their losses. Others are just waiting for the bitcoin to fall further until it become more cheaper before buying again.

For instance, there's a chance that some people simply got tired of waiting for a bull run or some upward movement and decided it was time to dump,

why would they sell something that is not moving? and why would they dump instead of selling?

put yourself in their shoes. imagine you have bought bitcoin and gotten tired of waiting for the bull run. would you immediately dump all you have on the market or will you wait because you know no matter what, the price will go up. besides unless you think they are all brainless, nobody dumps a lot of bitcoin in one go. they sell slowly.

this was a big ass dump which makes it manipulation not natural traders getting out because of boredom which doesn't make sense at all since we were in an accumulation phase!

The issue of price/market manipulation is one reason why crypto is dreaded by so many investors, Pumps and Dumps only scare people off fr the space, and way I see it even Bitcoin is currently being manipulated by those actors who have a thing of two to gain! I think every possibility can happen with bitcoin including price manipulation, but we don't know the truth. And if you read some news like that but you don't know the truth, you will become worried and have a little afraid. You will think how about my bitcoin? What do I need to do with my bitcoin? They will create more and more false news to make people worry and afraid so they can take the benefits of bitcoin at the low price. We already see much negative news or positive news came to us and yes, it gives an impact on the price. So I think the manipulation of the price comes from the news itself which want to make people become panic.

I believe that someone can really manipulate the market. The so-called whales can change the situation in order to make profit.
I mean to invest less and earn more. We can't be sure in it as crypto market continues to stay a miraculous place.

You're right. Miracles do not exist. Every investor wants to gain a profit, especially the "whale". Crypto exchange markets differ from traditional stock markets in that no one can stop trading if the price crashes, hence there are many manipulators. Thus, if one large BTC owner is suddenly selling his coins, the other large holders also start selling their coins. Probably the Bitcoin miners decided to get fiat money for purchasing electricity and reimbursing other expenses.

Yes, it's being manipulate by supply and demand only so that's why bitcoin value is volatile.
Unlike gold market if we take the example , we can't control gold market because every company around the world, own gold industry.

indeed at this time the demand for bitcoin is increasing, and it does make prices manipulate up and down. so at this time we should not be surprised that the bitcoin prices go up and down. because now the conditions are like that.

There is a manipulation with Bakkt in the middle of it. They told some insiders that they were going to postpone the launch and a week before the news were announced insiders sold their coins. We had a big crash, CEO of BAKKT went public with the delay, people panicked a bit and sold ven more and the insiders were waiting for that ad buying cheaper. That's how you make money in the big world.

I don't doubt that there's been some manipulation going recently in the market, and that may be one of the main reason for the current drop, but I don't discard the fact that there are other factors in play causing the current downtrend. For instance, there's a chance that some people simply got tired of waiting for a bull run or some upward movement and decided it was time to dump, this triggered a panic selling wave which caused the price to go further down.

There might be some people out there who have the same mindset, especially with the current bearish sentiment growing stronger everyday, so there's a high chance that prices will keep going down.

To be honest ,bitcoin price is being manipulated because it is still  in the hands of whales that bought it very cheap. So,they can move it high or low.if you watch what happened recently ,they broke market structure by driving the price down knowing fully well that once the price goes down many noobs that don't have in depth knowledge on what crypto will sell off aggressively.
However, the whales know that many people are waiting for bull run on December, and they use that as an added advantage by working against what majority thinks. Now,noobs have ended up selling their bitcoin ,and whales have ended up accumulating. Moreover ,whales know that without manipulating the price there won't be scarcity for bitcoin. So,bitcoin is being manipulated.
On the other hand, the manipulation is going on because bitcoin has not been adopted by the masses ,and once it is adopted by masses ,they won't have the financial capacity to manipulate the price again.Even if they try to manipulate, they will get burnt in the process.

I agree with you, were are on the hands of the whales. I  think the bull run is going to be on February or March

Bitcoin was designed to be decentralized and is, but there is no way to stop money from getting what it wants, and when you consider that over 50% of the entire bitcoin is owned by less than 1% of the entire bitcoin population, you might doubt that it actually is.

ha, the discovery of the year easily!
of course, prices are manipulated bitcoin or any other
if there is a possibility of something to be manipulated and some group or people benefiting from it, it will be manipulated
but it is not inherent to bitcoin, look at gold fixing or the price of a dollar, for example
we all know what a meter is or a kilogramme is and we can check and compare it to the etalon meter or kg
but with the dollar or any other currency we only know what rate is it exchanged to some other currency at a given time
same goes for bitcoin price , just take it for granted

Well, I agree that big wheels and institutional investors usually try to manipulate the market in order to earn maximum profit out of it but it is not because they have a high amount of capital but the market is less measured at this point. I am talking about the low mass maturity of the investors which allows such big whales to manipulate the market. However, the situation will definitely improve over the period of time and we will see diminishing ability to manipulate the market.

"price" being manipulated has nothing to do with bitcoin being a decentralized currency which is giving freedom and control to its users.
"price" relates to trading and exchanges, which are centralized, small and manipulated. that is an undesirable fact but not a secret. and it is not ALL manipulation. it is also like this because of the smallness of the market. when a big panic sell occurs the price crashes hard because exchanges aren't trusted places where people feel safe to leave open orders which requires leaving money on exchanges. not having open orders means the order books are not packed and a small sell can result in a big drop.

yes indeed bitcoin is being manipulated. why the price of bitcoin cannot remain. now the price of bitcoin is up and down. so we must be patient in investing in bitcoin.

Bitcoin price manipulation maybe right or maybe wrong? one should understand that crypto market has been participated by a lot of investors with unknown personality except it will just shown on the volume of investment put in by such account either on trading , investment (long term or short term), HODL, we will never know the actual movement yet we can see the ups and down on the market thread as posted. I am still looking forward on the positive indicators as the system is safe from insiders trading.

In the article "Dirty secret revealed in new bitcoin crash", the writer Jason Murphy says that "Bitcoin is supposed to be an expression of collective free will in a system controlled only by the incorruptible mathematics of cryptography. The currency collapse pattern suggests Bitcoin may not be so free after all" he said this because the prices maybe are being manipulated by bots or someone or some group. He explains that in moments when the markets are having stability and suddenly the prices fall that means manipulation.

What do you guys think? I think that maybe there is a little manipulation

The possibility is that the bitcoin price is really manipulated today.
That's why the price dropped. Well, let's accept it and take advantage of the cheap bitcoin price. Because of the fact that when the bitcoin price rises we will also have a profit.

I think we've been manipulating Bitcoin Cash for more than a month. And its effects come to Bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash on the nonsense must end. I think all Cash miners can go back to Bitcoin to make a big structure.

A decentralized product eventually evolved into a tool that was manipulated for profit, and it must be said that this is a ridiculous and shameless thing.
At some point whales can make the market more active, but more often the benefits of whales from the massacre of other more people.
I think manipulation is of no use, of course, because bitcoin is down, the price is falling now, but we don't have to be monotonous about Bitcoin, there's alt coin for one of them to help

I think the bitcoin price is really hard to manipulate because it really has a great value and price maybe if some people wanted to manipulated they maybe have or  get many coin and hold. I believe that we need to make wait for the next update of the price maybe big whales are in action because the bitcoin really experience a sharp crashed.

So you have found an article telling that the apples are bad because the oranges are orange. And then you want people's opinion on that.

Bitcoin is free and it's going pretty well in the right direction. Bitcoin is software, is technology.
Bitcoin price is something manipulated, like almost any price in this world. The only difference is that not many have the interest to point that out about the "other prices" or about "the value of your money"...

I believe that someone can really manipulate the market. The so-called whales can change the situation in order to make profit.
I mean to invest less and earn more. We can't be sure in it as crypto market continues to stay a miraculous place.

Yes, it truly is because they may be doing this price movement that the price of Bitcoin is really going down to make people panic and let those small investors get out of the market and will let the market go up again once the time is right.

Bitcoin was designed to be decentralized and is, but there is no way to stop money from getting what it wants, and when you consider that over 50% of the entire bitcoin is owned by less than 1% of the entire bitcoin population, you might doubt that it actually is.

But BTC in contrast to fiat which is controlled by banks, is open source, transparent and neutral.
And with  more adoption it would easily resist manipulations.

Bitcoin is not controlling by central department so it can be manipulated by many users who have a strong hold in bitcoin and it is the best way to change the whole market with your moves and now bitcoin price is recovering so it will goes to stability and these coins will be more stable.

We are kinda looking for answers as to why the price of the bitcoin is deteriorating so fast, and manipulations as you stated(or as the article states),could be one of the reasons,i think it could either be whales/government manipulations...

The whales who definitely control a large % of the market, could probably be the ones manipulating the price of the bitcoin(i do not know how true though, its just mere speculations )

But as for the bitcoin being any less free, that in my opinion is incorrect, the very reason it can be manipulated already proves that it's free from any regulations(decentralized),as Large groups of individuals can manipulate the market at their own discretion
