Private keys that start with 5 are uncompressed and private keys that start with K or L are compressed (as in newer Core releases or in your case Bitaddress). I recommend to use compressed ones as transactions with such private keys are smaller thus pays more fee/KB

They start with 5, K, or L. Wallet Import Format keys have never started with a 3

I always thought that a priv key had to begin with either a 5 or 3 has that changed?  i noticed on bitaddress that this is not the case now.
