I tried deleting everything but wallet.dat and redownloading the blockchain for a second time and got the same problems.  Looking into it further I noticed transactions larger than 0.00016 btc remain unconfirmed on my overview page even as they show as confirmed on the transactions page. These larger transactions are also missing when I go to the send coins page, click inputs, then click the drop down icon next to my address.  I did not allow the blockchain to fully download because of the error and because I have a new large transaction that is not yet part of my wallet.dat file. I am running version 0.8.1. I imported my private keys from blockchain.info in May.  Is -rescan, an option?  Is there any harm in allowing the blockchain to fully download?  Should I just use my wallet.dat file and update to the newest version of bitcoin-qt?

My oldest transactions are around one year old and my last on Nov. 24.  All of my transactions were confirmed before I received the runaway exception error and subsequently began redownloading the blockchain.  What I don't understand is why the transactions page shows my transaction becoming confirmed as the blockchain is downloaded, but the transaction amounts continue to stay in the unconfirmed row, on the overview page,  instead of miving to the balance row, as happened the first time I downloaded the blockchain.

It's impossible to lose transactions without deleting your wallet.dat. You don't have anything to worry about other than your transactions taking a along time if they are a) recent and b) with a low txn fee.

I received a runaway exception error then deleted everything but wallet.dat from the data directory and opened bitcoin-qt to redownload the blockchain. Initially my entire balance was unconfirmed, but as the blockchain downloaded the balance and unconfirmed amounts would adjust as past transaction became confirmed. However, after a while, the balance and unconfirmed figures wouldn’t change even as more transactions became confirmed. I am still downloading the blockchain. Is there anything to be concerned about? Will my entire balance show as confirmed once the entire blockchain is downloaded? Should I finish downloading the blockchain?
