What you said may be true, but promotions are something that players actually do look for.

Currently, security is part of the software category and referral programs are part of "promotions", but we may add additional rating criteria soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't understand why promotions come into your rating. Just because a casino gives away money, that doesn't make them a better casino.

Promotions are very sought after when you choose a casino to play on. It is true that the worst casino would not be much better, no matter how big the promos were. However, promotions are a factor that will help a player decide between casino A and casino B.

Take for example, Just-Dice and PrimeDice, two of the largest dice sites. Some players will choose one over the other, for reasons such as software features (automated betting, live chat etc) or perhaps the player traffic, if they enjoy chatting or viewing public bets. Players may also choose a site for its promos and bonuses (in PD's case, giveaways and the faucet).

Of course, it is not the only factor that is involved in a player's decision. Just Dice remains to be a great gambling site, and that can be seen in our (upcoming) review.

We use five factors to determine a site's rating: Software, Customer Support, Financial Security, Player Traffic, and Promotions. Each is graded out of five, and the scores are averaged to calculate the final rating. Users can leave their owner ratings, which are are calculated separately from Bitcoin Reviewer's rating.

In my opinion, this is an excellent rating model to use, as it allows a user to quickly find a site, view our rating scores for the factors that are of importance to them, and then see the user rating to determine the community's view on the site.
Lets be honest. Promotions are there to bring new players to a certain casino. In the end the players have to pay them self for those promotions. In other words a casino with more promotions has to make more profit on their players...

Playtin - House edge is definitely something we take into account, when writing our reviews. There should be a good number of new content added in the upcoming days.

Any additional ideas or criticism is welcomed; it helps us to make Bitcoin Reviewer more useful to the community.
When rating please also take security features like 2FA and https into account. And anonymity related things like do I need an email. Maybe even referral programs.

jayeeyee - Whoever hacked your account has posted similar compliments on other threads also. I can assure you that we are not the source of this hacking. Your account may have been hacked by a drive-by Java exploit, or a phishing attack. One of my computers was compromised recently, and I would not have caught this, if I did not notice the slow connection on said computer and strange activity like random browser windows being opened. Thankfully, my forum account was not logged in, and there was no BTC on there. I formatted the hard drive yesterday (just in case), and I suggest you do a virus scan on your computer to ensure your own security.

Micon - We are sorry that the error you've mentioned has made its way onto our site. I truly apologize for not thoroughly checking the facts in the review. I was quite surprised to see that the number of connected players had grown by a significant amount since my last visit. After checking Satoshi Poker's homepage, the player counter gave me the impression that this was in fact accurate. I have removed the mistake from Satoshi Poker's review, and I will later perform a thorough test of the site myself. I understand your frustration; it is evident that a lot of hard work has gone to make Seals with Clubs the #1 site for Bitcoin poker in the world. It is our mission to provide truthful reviews, and I will be making sure that our current, as well as future content, is always accurate.

A revised version of the Satoshi Poker review can be found here: http://bitcoinreviewer.com/poker/satoshi-poker-review/

We have contacted their support for clarification regarding their dishonest behavior.

We don't understand the rationale about this either.
It seems having higher payouts on games (e.g. our video poker has 0.2% house edge) is usually valued less than running some promotions...
But apparently lately most review sites are rating this way (e.g. http://bitcoingamblingreview.com/2013/10/21/playtin-review/)

Hello,

[Note my obvious bias as the long time SealsWithClubs site pro & affiliate manager]

IMO there is no way that Satoshi Poker should get a rating higher than SealsWithClubs [4.5 satoshi vs. 4.4 SwC]  This really disappoints me because I thought that finally there was a "real" bitcoin gambling list that I could reference as a player.  Here is the quote:

"The player traffic experienced by Satoshi Poker is comparable to that of Seals With Clubs. During our tests of the site, we found that there were over 200 players online"

This is simply untrue and poor due diligence by BitcoinReviewer.  I understand the point of the project is to SEO the site and sell advertising.  It is a fine model, so long as they stick to their guns of "Honest Bitcoin Casino Reviews."  In this case, it was a simple trick from SP to display a large number of "connected" players similar to SwC on their website so anyone glancing at the site would think they are a major player and not a complete ghost town.  A quick view of http://www.pokerscout.com/ or a quick launch of both poker clients would have told the tale:

Both clients are sorted by # of players sitting.  SP has 1, single, solitary player waiting for micro-limit hold'em action.  SwC right now has over 100+ real money bitcoin poker players at 17 cash tables with 14 of those tables having more than 5 players.  Simply put, we are the only place for bitcoin poker action and there is no close 2nd place at this time.  You could play a wide range of limits and tournaments at SwC all day today or sit alone on SP.  I am extremely proud of the hard working team that makes SealsWithClubs.  Tireless hours are spent constantly improving the site and managing a large player base to provide low-rake bitcoin poker you can trust.  Our site started with Freemoney sitting alone at the SwC tables in 2011 waiting for anyone willing to play for bitcoins.  A small group of highly motivated humans have built the site starting from that one man's humble first step - so when I see reviews like this I am so angry that a small trick from a competitor has lead to gross misinformation being published.

Usually do not feel compelled to comment on such things, but this review site is extremely well designed and I think it will eventually rank high on google - so I could not stand idly by this time.

BitcoinReviewer - please stick true to your name and do proper due diligence on all bitcoin gambling businesses before posting reviews.
