Buy BTC, keep offline in Armory cold storage.  Make a watching wallet for internet PC.  Sit back and profit.

If you are in the U.S., then LocalBitcoins and Coinbase are your best options. Also, consider doing more than just buying bitcoins and sitting on them.
Are LocalBitcoins and Coinbase are only for citizens of the US? Can I use them in Spain?

If you are in Spain, try Kraken.com. There is no identity verification required.

In my opinion Coinbase is the best place to buy bitcoins for U.S people. Bitstamp is an option too.

Coinbase is for U.S citizens only "I think", LBC is global and it's peer to peer (you directly trade with other members not the website)

Also, consider doing more than just buying bitcoins and sitting on them.
You could invest in bitcoins and use them to invest in other things.

I know buying ASIC and cloud mining hashrate are not good investment.
Any suggestions, other than investing in the bankroll of casinos?

Check out HaveLock Investments or CryptoStocks.
I currently own 2 B.MINE shares on Havelock.

OK, thanks for the advice. I will take a closer look at them soon. Smiley

If your asking for an exchange then I'd try and do some searching for the best reviewed exchanges for coins.  Also take the time to read posts here to try and get an idea of what other users have experienced there.  The time you put into learning where your money is going will pay off.

I can recommend a very reputable place to buy bitcoin in the UK, but I presume from your forum name, you are in the US. Like you I was completely new to BTC & the people I bought from were beyond helpful. I'm sure it's not an exaggeration to say I emailed them maybe 100 times as I tried to set up a paper wallet. One of the guys actually set up a video chat with me to help me get it done.

You can buy it on Coinbase or Bitstamp or localbitcoins, but it is better to store your bitcoin on a paper wallet rather than on the exchanges.

I found Coinbase to be very noob friendly...

None of the major Bitcoin exchanges (perhaps with the exception of localbitcoins) are noob-friendly. Bitcoin itself is finding pretty much limited to the tech savvy. I hope this will change as the time progresses.

I found Coinbase to be very noob friendly...and they have very fast and courteous service. On the flip side, I had an issue with vanishing bitcoins (a website glitch, not anything serious) within the first week. Also, their prices are kind of high, but I like the site overall and the interface.

  Greetings,

I'm a regular ham-n-egger in every sense of the word and most of these discussions are way over my head.  However, I know an opportunity when I see it and would like to invest in Bitcoin or rather one of the other crypto-currencies that have more room to run.  Where is the safest place to do it?  I don't want to trade them or buy anything with them.  For me this is a long term investment.  Thanks!
The safest is Bitcoin ATMs since they are instant and does not require anything except cash or your ID.
