I just wanted to take note that Bitcoin Signature Generator has just passed 1000 signatures mark, which is incredible. They all were viewed ~2600 times. I hope you got a few BTCs thanks to them Smiley.

I don't have much time to work on this service now, but if you have some decent feature requests, don't hesitate to ask. I may find some time to implement them. Also, if you are a graphic designer and can design some nice icons to be used with the sigs, I'll happily add a feature to change the icon.

This is really cool. I'd donate, but I have absolutely no bitcoins at all.

You can get a few free bitcents over at the FaucetSmiley

Cheers,

Finally, I've added an option for editing signatures. You can change every part of it - color, title and the Bitcoin address. Enjoy Smiley.

Added 4 more color schemes (so now there are 5 of them). That's for a start. I'll maybe add an option to manually specify colors by hex, but that's for later.

I've updated the generator to produce darker backgrounds. The result is visible in my sig, versus the ones in other signatures. Which one is better?

Agreed on the legibility issue.  Perhaps it's the specific combination of colors that accentuates it, but at first glance I absolutely cannot read whatever is in that green bar.  Perhaps all it needs is a darker shade of green or something.

EDIT:  for reference, I'm running on a resolution of 1680x1050 on a 15-inch laptop screen.

I guess I'll have to design 7px and 9px fonts to make it more ligible, though that will take a bit of time. Or maybe you know some good repository with free public domain pixel fonts?

Frankly I find it illegible.

Why?

Edit: You mean the font? Would you make it bigger, or add more spacing? This is a "standard" userbar font, used in many places, so I guess many people agreed that it's good for this purpose Smiley.

On my 30" 2560x1600 monitor, it's pretty damn small. A bigger font /would/ be nice.

I would be a little uneasy in case this service becomes popular, and in a year or two you switch all the bitcoin receiving addresses to your own.

If that became an issue wouldn't you just change your signature? Also, to be able to determine if the person is being honest you could periodically send yourself a random bitcoin amount and see if it gets forwarded to yourself. You could do this manually or programmatically.

Nice Smiley.

I see that the priority thing that is needed is a way to make your own color scheme, so the forums won't be flooded with tiny green signatures Cheesy.

Also, another thing that will be done ASAP is editing signature - address and title. I'll do it tomorrow, I've spent way too much hours on this today.

Yeah, sorry about that. It's fixed now. Little typo that I made in the last minute ^^".

@ribuck: Well, that's a matter of trust I guess. And that's true for many Bitcoin services at the moment.

Hmm, might be cool. Can’t register though: Fatal error: Uncaught [42S02] - SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'mav_bc.users' doesn't exist thrown in /home/mav/public_html/bc.x14.eu/inc/rb.php on line 759

Also, why do you require my email if no activation mail will be sent?

Hi all,

I want to share with you with a little service I created today. It's called Bitcoin Signature Generator, and it's for generating signatures like the one you can see below this post. Just click on it and see what it does.

Why on the earth one would want to make one? Well, there are several reasons for this:

- you want to remember where exactly you've used your Bitcoin address
- you want to have control over the address once you left it somewhere
- you want to know how many people used your address (not neccesarily paid, but just looked at it)
- you want to attract more people to donate/pay you because you do some great stuff with Bitcoin
- etc.

That are some of the reasons I've built BSG. Right know it's in "beta" stage - not entirely tested, but proven that it works. It does not have full functionality that I wanted it to have, but if you'll like it, I want to add following things to it:

- more control over the visual stuff - background color, font color, icon on the left
- more editing options to existing signatures
- configurable message that would show up for your visitors/customers on the signature page
- multi-language support, especially for signature page
- more, whatever you think of...

To use the service, it's required that you make an account. It's free and quick (no activation links over mail, no entering your personal stuff) and I require it to make it easier for you to manage your signatures.

I'll try hard to make it better if you decide to use it and keep it always online, so your signature will be always visible. The service itself is free, though I encourage you to donate some bitcoins to help keeping it running. You can use my address from the sig for this Smiley.
