It is increasingly looking like a get-rich--quick scheme, now I would any moment expect for s "Bitcoin Bronze" being forked out of the main chain. This is really becoming ridiculous.

I hate these forks. They spam the market with free coins. They say it's good for community and bitcoin future but the truth they are just scamming community with shit coins without future.

It looks like a demolition job for bitcoin. Too many steps being done to ruin bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, B2BX this november and then Bitcoin Silver on december. Exchanges supports Segwit2x and hopefully it's true that after this fork on december, they won't be supporting it anymore. It's really amazing how bitcoin overcome this corrections and recover easily.

Where and when is this all going to stop?
Bitcoin silver to make bitcoin decentralised again, is that not what gold is about?

I agree that all this forking is ruining the name of bitcoin but yea that is unregulation,
decentralisation and open source! Nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Yea, its totally ruining the bitcoin now. I don't know if this is true or not though, but it looks like another hype from a group of persons to really just make profit from another altcoins. I think it needs to be stop unless we all get to used to seeing forking like every month. Initially, there's a lot of debates that is been going on for more than a year just to do the fork and a lot of bad words have been thrown on both camps. But now it looks like it goes so far that it may already lose it's traction from the community and the investors.

I hope this is just a joke. But if not and it's a huge success (at least for the developer) watch this space as I release Bitcoin Platinum! It's just the same as all the other forks but it's better because it's got a better name!

Just a better name? I guess that is what forks is for nowadays. Since the hype of the first fork in August, there has been multiple forks and it seems like bullshit now. People are investing in bitcoin because of this. But this is not a healthy growth. These forks are ruining the name of a coin and people should stop supporting them. They have no monetary value - since we are all going to dump them all as soon as they reach an exchange.

The core is always the base or the lead, something getting into existence from the main chain at any point won't claim it to be the bitcoin. It will always serve as an altcoin with little more popularity than the other altcoins that gets developed on some other platforms such as Eth smart contracts or the waves platform.

Agreed it will remain an altcoin and will never be able to replace bitcoin. In ethereum and waves there is deployment of smart contacts - but that not similar to forking. That is simply a new coin that has been developed.

So, I'm very tired of these Forks, really. Too much  happened this half of year . I hope in November will be the last one,but the most serious.
Altcoins are in big dump from July , Bitcoin does rapid growth, but nothing can grow forever. So I'm waiting with tension for 15-17 November, when fate of bitcoin will be resolve and  I hope altcoins wake up.

Lol. I think this will be one of the biggest nonevents incrypto. I think we are slowing but surely getting tired of these forks to be honest with you. After the failure of Bitcoin Gold and the upcoming chaos that  will be caused by Segwit2X. By December noone will even support any contentious hard fork. Bitcoin Gold still hasn't released the coins. They are busy premining.

Someone Pleeeeaaassseee stop this madness

Bitcoin Silver Wants to ‘Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again’ Amid More 2x Rejections

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-silver-wants-to-make-bitcoin-decentralized-again-amid-more-2x-rejections

As more cryptocurrency exchanges drop support for SegWit2x, yet another fork may soon grace the industry in the form of Bitcoin Silver.

Coming less than a day after Bitcoin Gold forked from the BTC Blockchain, Bitcoin Silver’s developers wrote on the Bitcointalk forum they intend to “make Bitcoin decentralized again.”

Their description reads:

“...Bitcoin Silver will provide an opportunity for countless new people around the world to participate in the mining process with widely-available consumer hardware that is manufactured and distributed by reputable mainstream corporations.”

While no technical details are currently available, Bitcoin Silver will follow Bitcoin Cash-style distribution methods and be available to BTC private key holders in December. The exact block the fork will occur at remains undetermined.

I had seen something like this in the past and I just wished it away thinking its was just a joke till I clicked the link and found out that there is even a thread on the forum gathering momentum gradually even up to the 12th page. But seriously, we need to stop this confusion because just getting boring and tiring all together.

This will be like the 4th fork or so within a period of how many months. If this is allowed to continue, then there won't be any new project to be developed again because you can just create a new bitcoin. Now that we have Gold and Silver, the next will be Bitcoin diamond, bitcoin platinum, etc. This is a joke.

Yeah true, at least they're starting with a 140gb blockchain. I wish them good luck with that freaking mess. I wonder if they will have a wallet or if they'll be like bitcoin gold and never get off the ground haha.
Gold and silver go hand in hand lol. So wouldn't be surprised if Bitcoin Silver also ends up like bitcoin gold. These hard forks are essentially just an way of the developers to gain popularity for their shitcoins. If they developed an altcoin like others they won't get much popularity, but with so called 'forking' from BTC, they get to use the word 'bitcoin' and gain extra popularity

Yeah I think thats a good point. Piggy-backing on an a "notable" cryptocurrency network gives hard-forkers an advantage in terms of existing users and brand awareness. But these are marketing reasons.

I actually asked this question in another thread, but still:

My question is, from a technology perspective, why do these projects need to fork the bitcoin blockchain and why dont they just start a new one, with their own consensus and other rules? What is the technological benefit in staying on / forking the bitcoin blockchain?

If there is absolutely none, then this is just "stealing" the brand name.

But on the other hand, how would the initial/core/true team actually ever improve the technological parameters when they wished so? Would they need to always start a new chain and forks would (should) not exist?

So much forks this days, thus making one to benefit from holding onto btc in one's wallet as they all claimed to solve one problem or the other but Bitcoin still dominates
Anyway am waiting to have my share of it since they want to give us free money

Thanks for info. Until now, nothing could stop Bitcoin. If they want, they can create thousands of clones. I will grab and dump them all. But: Bitcoin silver is LITECOIN !!!

Bring it on, every time there is a hard fork price of Bitcoin goes up and if this is indeed scheduled December then to those who speculated that Bitcoin will reach $10,000 by end of this year then you may have won the bet. Altcoins are the one heavily suffering from this hard fork and this help Bitcoin gain its strength. I wonder if they are doing this in purpose to pump the price of Bitcoin and slay the Altcoins.
That is really interesting .  I didn't think about it. In this way, they push Bitcoin. You are right.

That it's true until now no one can stop the bitcoin to pump and pump even the last time fork it's useless after its launched the price are going down Smiley
Believe me after this Hard fork the price of bitcoin will became high again so just hold and hold see the result after this bitcoin silver launched.

This is like creating new shitcoin for the sake of earring money when they are ran out of it. This commuity getting big laugh now, I don’t understand in what way these developers really think and whats the use of new currency if we already have plenty of them to mine and earn.

What kind of new mining hardware and opportunities they are speaking about ? Is there a really need of that? I mean this is just game of earning money by introducing new coin and for that they will obviously need new miners. They will publish themselves and will get money for it. All the greed nothing much.

The forks are good only if they help the blockchain and bitcoin to grow in proper way and in technical way. Otherwise its all waste and nothing much.

Bitcoin silver that’s a catchy name actually.. I will make my fork in my kitchen the same name.. It’s become funnier every time a fork is taking into like an every month event.. I will not be surprised for a Bitcoin Diamond fork next year.. Let’s support this one,, there slogan looks promising “Fork fork fork”.. Sorry for being rude and I don’t support this kind of things and I hope it would be stopped the soonest..
