This may be a stupid question, but why is a "Bitcoin SIP/telephone service" any better than an existing SIP/telephone service that accepts Bitcoin for payment? Because it can be anonymous? Couldn't an existing service that accepts Bitcoin be anonymous also?

The exciting part is the implementation of contracts, the fact that you pay as you use and not pay first we accredit your account.

I am interested in hell well voip would work via Tor ?
back when I was a VoIP specialist 64kbit channel was minimum, or 32k depending on a codec.. but really even low bandwidth but consitant latency was the key.. curious how well it would work over Tor.
Is it really even needed ?

I am interested in the research as well so I would be looking very closely around here Smiley
What I have in mind is much complicated than a normal SIP service that accepts Bitcoin Wink

I am very interested in such service and I would like to have possibility to call between US-Russia-Ukrain on phones cheaper than Globalphone and to do Internet video calls better than Skype.

I'd love to have:

1) my own phone number
2) POTS routing(as in I get my phone number and get them routed to my own asterisk server)
3) outgoing calls from my own sip server
4) ability to change my number quickly
5) log access so I can verify what information about me is kept
6) international numbers
7) text(sms) capabilities, to receive AND send text messages.

I'd also side for your services if only a subset is supported.
right now I'm using twilio numbers which are bridged into a conference call to my ipkall number which is forwarded to my asterisk server. not quite the best solution, IMHO. and the thing that bothers me most is that IPKall keeps deleting my numbers if I add phone numbers for multiple users on my server without notice.

I'm doing a small market research on the interest on a Bitcoin SIP (a VoIP protocol).

What features do you want in that case?
- Your own telephone number?
- Total anonymity? Access via Tor, etc
- ...
