I think it is short-sighted to think of outer-space as the only frontier. The deep oceans are also a bold new world. Bitcoin could easily be first into the deep, simply throw your PC over the edge of a boat. Hopefully Starbucks won't lob a latte in before you.
Space has more potential, and the ability to get an live there is already available, it just needs to get better.
While I agree Space is a bit more exciting, its just that exploring the deep oceans is more easy. For instance, preparation for the latter would involve throwing your PC in a river, while the former would require you to strap a CPU to a rocket.
Both could be achieved. Perhaps we should crowdfund the project?
