but lately I read somewhere that Electrum is not that safe (on a topic speaking about Trezor , can't find the link ) so I didn't want to use it

uhh what?Smiley

please try to find link or source and at least describe what you remember about it. I don't have statistics or something, but I think that Electrum is the most used light client in Bitcoin world and you just scared me..

related thread is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0 and I don' see any security issues described so far..at least from last weeks

Damn , you are lucky it took me some time to find the thread but here you go : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hardware-wallets-are-unsafe-1125154
I'am not sure if that guy is an alternative account or simply a newbie who saying random stuff but I personally took it seriously because BTC is money and I care about my money safety .

How long have you been stuck on 39 hours behind?

I've been stuck on a certain amount of time to go before for like an hour & instead of coming down slowly it just all of a sudden jumps to fully synchronised & up to date.

Sometimes I think my computer is frozen or something & shut it down & open core again, this seems to work. If you have a real, certified technical issue with core though I'm afraid I have no idea how to help.

Exactly the same thing as you . It was probably the same time or something like 1 or couple of hours . then it's starts jumping till I found it fully synchronized with the network . As I said here : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11927032 "Jumed from 39 to 18 to 8 to fully Syncronized with the Network , what the hell  "

I have no idea bro, I've been equally worried a number of times. I'm just a speculative guy who has invested in bitcoin. I'm not a software genius or developer so when something happens that I don't understand I quite often get worried Grin

Like you say though I've experienced similar situations a number of times. Not even just downloading the full blockchain. It happens maybe once every few months my block sync freezes & I'm like  Undecided . It sorts itself out though most times & if not I shutdown & try again. No massive problems so far in nearly 2 years Smiley

It will maybe solve this problem with stuck during synchronization, but it will take couple of days anyway..(it is frequently discussed in other threads here)

Just for my curiosity: What is your motivation for installing bitcoin core? you are planning to run 24/7 node or something? because if not, I don't get it..

My real motivation wasen't really running a node even if I'am doing it from time to time . but lately I read somewhere that Electrum is not that safe (on a topic speaking about Trezor , can't find the link ) so I didn't want to use it .
for what comes to the Multibit HD it's having some lagging while loading the GUI and stuff and I asked the developer on the Multibit section , he said they are doing their bests to improve the wallet . so I'am waiting , most likely gonna switch once I change Windows and clean all  because Bitcoin Core is taking much RAM and CPU , can't handle this

I was going to do that then I checked back the peers tab as you said ... and seems like 6 of them changed and they are having something like "350 ms " or "600 ms" on Ping time , and only two have "N/A"
It's getting weird , nothing changed on my computer to be honest so I don't see how my Firewall is blocking anything .
Jumed from 39 to 18 to 8 to fully Syncronized with the Network , what the hell  Huh

It sometimes takes a while until your node understands that it is no longer connected to other nodes. I assume you had some connection problems and rebooting your modem just killed all open connections and possibly changed your external IP (depends on your ISP and connection type). In this case, core would sit there for a while until it searches for new connections.

Besides that you should probably fix your problem. Its not normal that the database gets corrupted every time.

your explanation makes a lot of sense . Gracias amigo Grin
for what comes to that problem idk , my PC is full of crap .. 9 days till Windows 10 coming out , so It's will a reason for cleaning all my PC and installing fresh Operating system and let's hope it will get fixed somehow  . Smiley

Are you sure about your first statement ? I'am using probably Bitcoin Core for almost a year now and each time I reboot the PC while it's running and boot it back I found the database corrupted , and it begins from 6 years behind xx weeks .
Same goes if I close it normally and I don't wait for that window to close alone , sometimes I even wait it then reboot but I find it corrupted , I guess I will understand how that shit works .
That usually indicates a problem with your computer. It corrupts when you shut down the computer since it doesn't fully close and that corrupts the LevelDB database. It should be find when you close it properly. If it isn't then you might have a hardware issue.

for the peers , I'am not sure what that means , do you mean Active connections ? then it's 8 . I used to run a node
Go to Help > Debug Window and tell us how many connections there are next to "Number of Connections" Then go to the Peers tab and check each of the connections and make sure that they have a ping time and that none of their information fields says "-1"

I'am not sure about the paths of those dump files or whatever .
So for the number of connections it's as I said 8 , on the Ping time it says : "N/A" and when I click on one of the rows for more informations I get "-1" on the starting height . What does that means

That means that you aren't actually connected. Check to see if your firewall or something is blocking your connection. Check the firewall for your computer and the firewall on your router. Also try connecting to other nodes. There is a list somewhere on this forum of good nodes to connect to and try to connect to them.

It's been hours since I started the wallet and it was like 5 days ago and not it freezed at 39 Hours behind . I don't want to close it because I want it to finish sync right now , and if I close it it will start all over again when I run it once again later .
It shouldn't. It should pick up right where it left off.

Anyone having this issue ? I thought it's my internet connection so I reboot the modem once again in case but nothing happens (it usually works) suggest me anything ASAP ty

When I hove my mouse on the ProgressBar it says :
"Catching up ...
Proceeced 365932 blocks of transaction history ."

How many peers do you have?
