I miss them. I’m curious about where I post the most.
Some users even use given stats on posting activity by time to trace potential locations of other users (from most active posting time). I remembered I read a topic on satoshi, that use such stats to raise assumption where @satoshi mostly lives. The timestamps of Satoshi's posts. It's a big fun.  Grin

<…> How this stats help in DDoS attack? <…>
This thread kind of covers it: User stats are disabled?.

Alas, it does not pinpoint the exact reason for the stats to be disabled and not re-enabled after the December 2017 DDoS attack. I have seen people complaining about forum being slow around the time, so perhaps it was switched off due to performance issues caused by the overhead of calculating the stats themselves.

I know that user stats were disabled a long time ago as I used this feature before and it's not already working, but I don't know the real reason why it was disabled. You just educated me here, thank you for sharing, I feel like I am a newbie too where there's still a lot of things I need to know.

How this stats help in DDoS attack?
You mentioned they were "used" ,I will like to know ,how they were used.
Some bad actors probably spammed the page to lag the forum. Since it grabs a lot of data from the db to make them, it’s pretty heavy for the server.

It has been disabled in the whole forum because it was being used for DDoS attacks. No public plans to enable it again at any time soon.

Well these stats (nor any other) don’t seem to be integrated into the new forum software yet, at least they are not present on Cryptos-Currencies.Com : First forum using Epochtalk.

Stats may constitute an additional module to be added later on, or they may need to be activated by the test forum instance admin. I’ll ask them.

Edit: Looking through http://epochtalk.org/index.html, there is a "posts over time" chart in the user profile, so some sort of stat is there (although not currently active on the above referenced test site).

And i already wondered why it has been disabled..

But shouldn't it be possible to prevent DoS attacks by allowing stats to be viewed by members of this forum only + rate limit (e.g. once every 10 minutes) ?
Or another approach could be to slowly update each user statistic, then not generating it on-the-fly but showing the cashed version + updating it weekly ?

I'd also love to have this feature available again.

Nice stats page. It would be nice to know which time of the day I use the most too.

What kind of stats were there? I never saw it working. When I joined the forum that page was already disabled
