I feel the same way. If the goal of the video is spreading bitcoin awareness the price seems too high

Read somewhere else that the goal was to reach 100M views, in that case the price is indeed high unless they are considering non-paid views.

If this is the case, perhaps after 'acquiring' the film and watching it, based on your enjoyment, you could give us a BTC donation.

Ben's suggestion is very fair. If you got it through torrent and want to show some appreciation, just donate whatever amount you feel is right.

they have a donation page for different coins here

Wow, we have to pay $5.99 to watch this video so i only watch the trailer.
Then, i searched this documentary and found their kickstarter link : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bitcointheendofmoney/bitcoin-the-end-of-money-as-we-know-it/description

Looks promising, but i hope it could be cheaper Smiley

Hey, I appreciate the hard work that went into it, and I paid the $6 to see it, because I can afford it. I was just saying that it would have been better, if it was made availlable for FREE.

 {The community has shown in the past, that they support the people, who support them.... So donations and Tips would have been the better option}

I would have also included Bitcoin payment from the start... Even though this documentary is meant to target non-bitcoiners, most of us bitcoiners wants to download it, to convince other non-bitcoiners around us.

I am happy to pay $6 for this, because I appreciate the contribution this makes to our community.... I am just sad that a big part of poor people, who needs this most, could be excluded from this.

Anyone going to arrange a "group viewing" for this, to bring the poor people or the Greek people into our Bitcoin community?

Hi folks, I'm Ben, production assistant on the doco.

It looks like there's a bit of debate going on about the price of the film and the style of the film. I'll try my best to answer your questions.

When we started this project 2 years ago we ran the initial funding through Kickstarter. We raised 20K and grew our support from the strength of the campaign's success. The rest of the funding came from the Director, Torsten Hoffmann, personally investing a far more than the crowdfunding provided. We understand that for some people, myself included (being a student), $6 can be costly. If this is the case, perhaps after 'acquiring' the film and watching it, based on your enjoyment, you could give us a BTC donation.

We tried to make this as affordable as possible. At the same time we do wish to make a return on the investment. 2 years spent producing a bitcoin doco is certainly enjoyable work, but it's also nice to get paid for it!

Now on the style and quality of the film. From the outset we knew we wanted to make a film for the uninitiated, the newbies, those without a firm grasp on money as it is often misunderstood (money is the root of all evil, money corrupts etc etc). We DID NOT want to make a bitcoin doco for the bitcoiners. If you have been following bitcoin for some time and are familiar with it there's likely nothing in this film about bitcoin that you'll learn. However, there are definitely lessons on money, banks, the Fed and other institutions and technologies that may surprise you. The film attempts to show why bitcoin matters in a historical, economic and political context. We could have approached it from a different angle, showing the potential of blockchain based tech and how it can transform the way we exchange, contract, vote etc. But this would tell the uninitiated little about why bitcoin matters to so many people (the unbanked/underbanked) and what the government (and banks) have done to our money. We think this perspective on bitcoin is due some attention.

Hopefully you all enjoy the film and can participate in wider bitcoin discussion with friends, family and colleagues. Please share the film!

Cheers

Ben

Tell your boss, he should have used the available channel like youtube to make the return. In addition, audience can always donate if they like the film.

I don't think it's propaganda. Propaganda has always a negative connotation to it with half-truths, this is a pretty decent documentary.

Thanks for the information of the movie, I never heard of it and would have missed it. Now it's safely downloaded - and I will donate money to them if I find it being a quality product.

This kind of program is exactly like what they show on Discovery, History Channel, etc.

Good production quality, easy to understand for everyone.

Wow, I am really amazed about all the people who are shouting for a free link. Not that I pay for everything I watch, but I at least don't make it that obvious.
With this film, I am not sure, if I should pay. I just don't like streaming things. Can I download it using Bitcoin?

We all know you're not going to pay for it. I don't see the difference between asking for a free link and trying to cover up the fact that you may or may not pay for it. If people want it for free let them try watch it for free, for the others let them pay for it.

I love Bitcoin, but "documentary" is a bit of a stretch here. This is bitcoin propaganda, which is not the same as saying it's untrue.

i think you wanted to say that about bad propaganda, what means that people trying to influence others for bad things, but there is good propaganda also

No, you really don't. Do you even internet bro? Everything is free! Movies, music, games, tv shows, books, whatever, almost everything is there for the taking. A policeman is never coming to your door, I promise.

Here, my gift to you https://thepiratebay.la/torrent/12124758/Bitcoin_-_The_end_of_money_as_whe_know_it-ANONRIP

Information wants to be free, culture can not - will not - be contained by paywalls in the information age. Intellectual Copyright will be a dead concept by 2050.
It is strange that authors of that documentary did not put it on youtube for everyone. Instead they use pay-per-view sites. Which will undoubtedly make LESS profit for them than Youtube ads would bring.
I would understand this decision if topic was so interesting and mainstream but this is documentary! A Documentary about quite niche world of cryptocurrency, and you need to pay for it? Bad idea.

I am sure they had costs of making this film they need to cover. And, I think, if it helps public adoption of bitcoin and the further understanding of money, they should earn back that at least. However they see fit, YouTube ads, pay-per-view, or otherwise.

Anyway, thanks everyone that has shared links!  Smiley
