An individual solution could be found here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.52304007

I don't need it, but maybe this Feature will make it on the list of Epochtalk extensions Smiley

Last I recall seeing the topic was on this thread: Add real-time Bitcoin price in the forum. The topic nevertheless did not stir much debate, and even less acceptance, although as suggested within the thread, it could be a user enabled/disabled feature to cover all sensitivities.

The thread also points to a Chrome extension (which I’m not sure is being maintained) created by @mrvuit to add the BTC tracking feature, although I personally do not favour adding any extensions much further than an add blocker.

Seriously, do a search. This has been asked/requested numerous times before.  Would it hurt to have one? Of course not, but it's not essential and just keep preev or any other website of choice bookmarked.

Just enjoying the history of the forum and keeping myself busy   Smiley There are a few threads that I’ve found , but there doesn’t seem to be an official admin response to any of the requests. Thanks for feedback all

I believe theymos has commented on it in the past but I'm not going to search the dozens of threads for it  Cheesy. It was probably along the same lines of what I said though, if I remember correctly (and forgive me if I don't).

Do you only trade bitcoin for bitcoin? Is that how this entire economy works? That's like saying one share in Apple is worth 1 share or 1 dollar is worth 1 dollar. What's the exchange rate like compared to pounds or euros?

A lot of users are focused only in bitcoin price/value in fiat and they forget that in an economy based "only" in bitcoin: 1 bitcoin = 1 bitcoin and change with fiat will be totally useless. So you are not forced to get value in cash if you assume this.

Let's be honest here, most people are interested in the fiat value whether we like it or not. Of course maybe one day the dollar will be pegged to the bitcoin and we'll be asking how much a dollar is in bitcoin, but I doubt it  Grin.

Hi , I was just wondering why there is no bitcoin tracker/ ticker on the forum . It appears that most bitcoin associated websites have them.
Is it because SMF can’t have that feature or simply that no one wants it !
Personally I don’t feel the need for one as they can be a pointless distraction.
If we think of the main goal of the forum when satoshi created it a destination to discuss about bitcoin technically, we don't need to have bitcoin price tracker on the forum, that tends to be annoying. Such tracker is nearly annoying or even more annoying than animated avatars that was disabled when many casinos run their campaigns with animated avatars and signatures.
Animated avatars aren't supposed to be allowed, but I never got around to adding detection for the APNG ones. I'll look into it.

I consider tracker is more annoying because we (bitcoin investors) will be distracted from discussions when price pumps or dumps.

Anyhow it's very hard have a consensus on bitcoin value translated in fiat, since there are many platforms with different price, conditions, withdrawal fees, fiat markets.. and if you buy/ sell a large batch price will be totally different ...
