You sent a transaction that was 2551 bytes!!?! Shocked That's about 10x the "average" transaction size of around 226 bytes (1 input + 2 outputs)...

Given that fees are just insanely high right now... transaction fees are at an all time high... upwards of 1000 sats/byte... you paid a fee of ~15mBTC/kB... or around 1500 sats/byte your transaction was 2.5kB... ergo you paid 2.5 (kb) * 15 (mBTC)... or ~38 mBTC... it's basic maths.

Hi,
I got really f*cked over today when sending Bitcoin from electrum to exchange.
Any ideas what the hell happened. I'm really pissed. I had standard setup for transaction fees and I payed 38.4mBTC when transfering 30.33mBTC.
Is it standard? No ideas what went wrong?
Thanks.

Nothing went wrong from the wallet-side. The bitcoin network is getting spammed with transactions right now, fees are as high as never before. Electrum calculates dynamic fees based on your preferred speed (as in "next block, next 5 blocks, 10 bloks and so on). If the overall fees are high, Electrum will set high fees. That's what happened.

You can change in preferences to set fees manually, but transactions might take days to weeks, depending on how long this attack is going on.
