It's just disappointing and frustrating that there are bad guys wherever you go. They try to make use all of the possible resources they can and do what they want. It is dangerous for us because what if cryptocurrency will be banned in a certain country because of illegal activities? As much as we have the freedom on what we can do with our bitcoin and other cryptos, bad guys also have that freedom. It's hard to finalize any thoughts on this since if anything, we will also be affected.

Using Bitcoin for buying drugs or using it as a payment method for illegal activities, isn't the fault of bitcoin. The problems are being created by humans. Some days ago, some kidnaper kidnaped a kid in Bangladesh and demanded a ransom in bitcoin cryptocurrency of nearly $10,000. Now, can you say that the problem was with bitcoin not with the people who used it in the wrong way...

was this a new feature ? i have also noticed this lately but i didnt remember if i have seen this before because i was rarely using t.g nowadays . this was a good tool so that people can be sure with thier suspicion but there are still annoying occurence on telegram like you are being joined automatically on random channels and groups that you dont know , how i wish they also fix this out .

If bad reputations are still increasing due to these illegal activities in a social media platforms then probably those restrictions are not enough.

Maybe, we are lacking some features and it is really hard to control other people on using a certain platform the way they want.

A more specific regulations and prohibitions should be implemented so that authorities will not really affect the freedom of using cryptocurrency the way the users want. It is not that good if we keep on making illegal activities happen and operate in a certain platform. Also, transactions should undergo a lot of process for security and safety purposes within the platform.

People are doing illegal activities well before bitcoin is in existence and if not for bitcoin they will be using other forms of currencies to transact, for a long time coupons were used to do these sort of activities but that does not mean it is used entirely to do illegal activities. If people are using bitcoin then it will having public trial and they will be caught eventually.

We can really do anything. Bitcoin is a means of exchange. It holds a value and its main feature is that it grants freedom to its users. We can't cut the whole tree because of a rotten fruit. We must treat the human behavior and not modify the technology.

Bitcoin cannot be banned in the whole world. I don't think that any big nation can cut its citizens the potential for massive appreciation in value that Bitcoin possesses. Even if there were a ban, Bitcoin will still be used underground.

A potential ban would slow the growth of crypto currencies, but wouldn't stop it.

The point is, people always find a way to do it, using bitcoin or monero but it's relatively small compare to fiat money.
It's better for the government to regulate cryptocurrency transaction, not easy to convert bitcoin into cash as the transaction easily tracked through blockchain, although it's a game of patience to track down all the transactions.

I tend to agree, it quite full of scam and fraudulent out there.

IMO, I don't think the Government is doing the good steps against illegal activities by putting the blame on Bitcoin. I just find them too desperate and guilty for not being able to stop these illegal activities. If I were them, I would focus on the core of it because the reason why there are illegal activities are that there is a producer, pushers, runners, and admins and those are the things that has to be stopped. Unless they are also involved with it.
In our country, it has the same system. The government is the one that is running very scalable illegal businesses. I'm aware.

I have already posted about this. Decriminalization is the best way to move forward. But the governments don't want to do that, because it can have a negative impact on multiple sectors. For example, the private prison industry is very big in the United States. If the drug trade is decriminalized, then the prisons would go bankrupt. i think not only the govt but those noncrypto users who dont have the indepth knowledge about crypto esp those that are just watching the media. it is true that illegal activities were already rampant even before we learn the name of bitcoin. and right now, those criminals just got another one good avenue to play their game.
but if we compare it to the laundered fiat, crypto is not even close.

It was designed to become a peer to peer payment network and that's what it is. It's the people who use it for illicit activities.
I am sure that the so called "Televend" was also created to make a positive impact in the market but it's the people who leverage it for illicit activities like drug dealing.
If people are using a good thing for a bad purpose it doesn't mean that the good thing is bad rather it means that the person is himself bad.
Besides that the governments can't do anything to bitcoin other than restricting it's use, so they should rather go behind the people who are dealing with drugs.
The drug dealers will surely find some other way if bitcoin is not an option to them. So why not catching the drug dealers itself at the first place.

Even if the authorities shut down all the dark markets, the drug users are going to secure their supplies through street vendors. As far as I can see, the "war on drugs" in the United States is causing more harm than good. It is just forcing the drug users to consume synthetic opioids, rather than soft drugs such as cannabis. And if I am not wrong, overdose deaths crossed the 40,000 mark last year (with the vast majority as a result of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids). Those lives don't matter, because the pharma giants get billions of USD in profit every year from manufacturing synthetic opioids.

They can't be serious if they(the government) were going to blame it on Bitcoin because no matter where I look at it. You said it already that it's inevitable, not only for fiat but for things that have value. These people will use any medium or platform they can just to continue doing illegal activities and will continue to find ways that make it convenient for them, and not to easily get caught by the authorities. It's not bitcoin's fault when criminals use it for transactions because it was not made for that purpose, it's just that greedy people will always abuse something for their benefits, and that's one of the examples.

Also, I just want to mention that news headlines with bitcoin always beside illegal activities can give a misconception to people (especially for those who don't have much idea about it) that bitcoin is something bad although it's not actually like that.

Well, I always have this perspective that there really is a possibility that this is just a setup. Because it really is stupid, I find it really stupid when the government is putting the blame on bitcoin because of the illegal activities with them knowing then fact that it's not really because of the bitcoin. And since then, --any type of store of value is being used for illegal activities they still try to stop until now. If the technology upgraded any illegal activity will adjust base of what they think they need with it since they know it is much secure place for having transaction they will use it. Thats the advantage and disadvantage of technology it can be helpful for many but it can also be helpful for the people committing illegal activity.

I supposed not to blame Bitcoin for a such a crime or sort of illegalities. Everyone can buy Bitcoin and anything they do with that number of Bitcoin are their own decision. What it makes difficult is that they are taking advantage of having an untraceable transaction, using social media to make their devil intention, that was the most devastating event that makes the authorities never find crypto as the best solution to a long delay of transaction. Instead, this gives them a reason to hate crypto.

This is not new, Have known about this for more than 5 years even before my first bitcoin transaction. The Darknet has always been an avenue for such transaction, for drugs, weapon, human trafficking even oil transaction but who do more of oil transaction than the corrupt country leaders. More of this anonymous coin are used there than bitcoin especially monero, you never wondered why the rarely mentioned monero still has the high volume of trade, high price and market cap. They give USA more concern that allow so much fund to break the privacy.

Telegram isn't the only place to find illegal stuff online.There are lots of Discord servers offering carding,money transfers,refunding services and other illegal products(most of those vendor are usually scammers,who aren't delivering the illegal stuff they are selling.They just want to some quick BTC,by scamming naive people..The Discord team is doing a great job by banning such servers,but they continue to popup.
I don't think that anyone could blame Bitcoin such activities.The process of selling and buying illegal products and services would exist,even if Bitcoin wasn't created.

They're using any possible ways to transact their products with instant payments through the use of digital apps like telegram andmake it into a bot so the buyer will easily buy and purchase drugs easily. Since digital payments is also a convenient way to use, bitcoin or crypto payments is their first choice. Government will definitely see this again as unfavor to bitcoin.

Eventually, even bitcoin wasn't made by this illegal purposes but criminals, fraudsters, black market users will definitely use this to mask the transaction's identity or to take advantage of the anonymous and conveniency of btc.

Well, when they have nothing to blame but their incompetency, they have to find fault at something else that could make them seem not at fault, and Bitcoin seems like a juicy bit of thing to place the blame to, especially with the amount of ignorance people has about it. Still, not really a new thing, even if they do this, sooner or later people would know that Bitcoin is clearly not at fault, like it's a currency, a medium, people aren't that ignorant to actually not notice that.

We do nothing tbh, this kind of thing is actually unavoidable, especially with how the system of Bitcoin is set up. Only thing we can do is as you said, report any suspicious groups that deal with illegal stuff, using Bitcoin or not. It's actually an action supposed to be done in general, not just for the protection of the crypto scene.

The used of BTC is not alarming but rather those illegal stuff that can be easily access via telegram is very alarming. That is why when I saw the subject title, I already said to myself "This is already an old thing. People already are using Telegram for illegal activities since you can keep anonymous on the platform".

All of the illegal activities might be done in Telegram and there is nothing the government can do about it. How they can trace it? Using the addresses that has been used in transaction yes but that too will take time to trace. The criminals are just utilizing the features of Telegram and the owner of telegram must do something about this but I doubt that they will do something. Scams have been done in Telegram for years already and we don't see any solution to it coming from the owner. Best solution for this is to remove Telegram as a whole.

Of course, to expand the market and to avoid getting caught. The law enforcers on the other hand will have to keep up because that's what they do, to run after them. However, the bitcoin itself, like any other exchangeble asset, wasn't made for this purpose. I don't know why there is so much fuss when it comes to Bitcoin and it's usage for transactions all over the world. Authorities and Governments tend to use Bitcoin as sacrificial lamb but the bitter fact is that since time immemorial fiat currency has and is still widely being used for illegal activities such as money laundering, corruption, Human trafficking, drugs and financing terrorism but just because the can't control cryptocurrencies, all the blame is shifted to cryptos anyway. If someone gets in contact with such agents , they should timely inform the authorities, make sure you don't engage with things like this. It is not only bad for the whole community but it's also attracting negative attention from the black markets.
