I think there should be bitcoin's own channel BTCTV..The latest news and updated about bitcoin should be available there. The Classes about bitcoin courses should be taken there for people's awareness about bitcoin. The Bitcoin business Presentation for new joins should be given. So this channel will be a source of publicity and introduction of bitcoin.

Honestly, I have never paid attention to the "chin holding" phenomenon until your brought it up. Seems silly that so many of them are doing it when you think about it. I don't think I have watched a single technical analysis video on YouTube in the last 5 years intentionally. I don't like them, same as you.

But you could give some of those Youtubers a chance. They are not all bad.
I have often advised newbies who want to learn some basics about bitcoin and crypto to take a look at some of the videos created by Coin Bureau or 99 Bitcoins. Put the ads and chin holding aside, if you checked them out, you would see that they are good.

I totally understand your frustration. Heck, I'm turned off from those channels with those thumbnails as well. But in the end, it's one of those things that definitely gets them clicks. So, do we blame the YouTubers for using these thumbnails, or the viewers who choose to click on them hence why they're such a big trend?

To be honest, if I was a YouTuber and I knew that those kinds of thumbnails were some sort of "hack" that could potentially get me more views, I'd do it. Especially when I'm having a YouTube channel mainly for business/monetization purposes. Content is a different thing though, I definitely wouldn't be screaming and shilling coins left and right; because I'd like to think of myself as an ethical and moral person. The same reason how Andreas Antonopoulos uses "those" kinds of thumbnails from time to time but at the same time giving out great non-cringe content.

Yea.. I really don't want to set the bar too low, but there are definitely FAR more worse(and far more annoying) thumbnails than the hold-the-chin thingy.
This is my point, however.  I have a few folders with names like "hands on side of face" or "outraged" and so on, with thumbnails of Youtubers who are all following the same script.  I'm not talking specifically about videos that have thumbnails with people with their hands on their chins--that's only one example of this nonsense.  I just figured it'd be annoying if I posted hundreds of images.

Nor is it just the thumbnails, and I hope that came across in my post.  It's the style and content of these videos that makes Youtube a cesspit of sewage for crypto videos (and for other topics as well).  Even when--or especially when--I'm logged out of Google with my cache cleared and cookies removed, if I hit the Home page on Youtube, most of the suggested videos are by these creators that Youtube is obviously promoting.  There's nothing that differentiates them in my mind except for their extreme conformity compared to videos I actually like watching.

Not to mention that if I see another video by Voskcoin and his smarmy, self-satisfied "I'm so fucking rich" attitude I think I'll puke.  Again.  I have been trying to watch some videos about mining, but do you think any by Philipma1957 are shown?  Nope.  And I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people making mining videos other than Voskcoin, Red Panda Miner, and so on.  It's a shame.

Edit:

I actually like videos by this guy, and notice that the thumbnails to his videos aren't clickbait-y crap (except perhaps for some of the text).  The content of the videos is also pretty decent, even if he's wasting his money trying to mine bitcoin on a RPi.

There's nothing really original about those thumbnails, but on the other hand they're not the type of trendy ones that every Youtube creator makes nowadays.  That's saying something in a system where so many people just follow the lead of others.

But more than faked shocked faces, perhaps the worst thumbnail when looking for a Bitcoin video is that which shows money.
Oh yeah, I also have a folder full of thumbnails entitled "pointing to something", which is exactly what your thumbnail shows.  I see that time and time again, all over Youtube, and it's another one that drives me nuts.

The bitcoin or crypto Youtube channel is very helpful for educating about learning the basics of the crypto industry for those who want to know more clearly and want to join this industry, and I was also first involved with this industry often watching you tube to find out developments and predictions that can help .
and now there are many you tube channels about crypto or bitcoin, but you still have to be wise in choosing and assessing a channel that can be trusted and can help you, because there are many pro and con channels that don't believe there are even those who drop bitcoin or crypto.
And besides YouTube, Twitter is also one of the most common places to find interesting conversations and information about crypto.

a very interesting idea, if this is really accepted it will be a good trend for bitcoin, it may be that bitcoin will become more popular and the price of bitcoin will increase, because more and more people want to dive into bitcoin, the more likely the bitcoin price will increase , because we know that now tv has lost its popularity with youtube, now most of us have watched youtube a lot, and not many people spend their time on television screens anymore..

Most are paid actuallly or some of these influencers promote products like BlockFi or Near protocol. Somehow they sound like a good source of information of what is going on in crypto and regulations like Dominic Frisby or Nathaniel Whitemore.

Pompiliano have his own channel too where they discuss tradinv indicators and he invites guest to chat with for his podcast.

We need even more youtube channels to increase the popularity of crypto even more.
Aren't there enough YouTube video creators that have crypto as their topic already? I don't think that it's going to be good that there are more people talking about it because it will end up getting muddled with clickbait titles and BS videos that might drown out the cream of the crop.

Do we need more tik tok account too? Cheesy

To be honest, there are many youtube accounts that talk about crypto out there, if BCT wants to create a channel, it has to be different. if you ask personally if I like this I think I don't really like there is a BCT youtube channel.

It’s almost as if there’s a formula these Youtubers follow, from the thumbnail to the intro music, and even to the content of the videos themselves.
~Snipped~
So here’s my second point: if bitcointalk decides to create a Youtube channel, I’m really hoping whoever’s in charge doesn’t decide to go the cookie-cutter route like all of the above jokers did.
I totally agree with your point but something like this is bound to happen at some point [both intentionally and unintentionally].
- Personally, I don't think it'll be a big deal if it "only" happens from time to time.

I also hope the goal of the forum's channel isn't primarily to monetize its videos,
Based on the following requirements [especially #3], I think it's safe to safe that's not going to be a problem in the beginning, but seeing that @Cyrus has already hired a company, then we should all expect that to happen at some point.

3. Have more than 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months.
4. Have more than 1,000 subscribers.

I have very few merit left but I had to leave one for this write up..I could not agree more.  It AMAZES me how many idiots are out there on YouTube with their "crypto channels" spewing mostly utter nonsense and falsehoods.  I mean let's not forget that Bitconnect was once promoted all over YouTube by "professional crypto YouTubers" lol.  I am thankful that I found this forum and even more thankful for the group I found here whom actually knows what they hell they are talking about and has helped me learn over the years.  I have buddies who try sending me youtube videos and I just laugh and send them Andreas videos back.

this is a very good idea, we can add insight through the youtube channel, and we can also benefit from youtube, it would be nice for bitcoin to reward anyone who creates creative content on youtube about bitcoin, because for us it is still very difficult to learn about bitcoin , but if there are parties who want to create bitcoin content on youtube, we are very very grateful..

Anyone who understands what YouTube is knows that all these so-called influencers are trying in every possible way to make money using this social platform. At the same time, it is important for them to have as attractive content as possible, and they calculate that this content does not have to be of exceptional quality because most people who watch it are not very intelligent anyway.

Personally, I rarely watch YT (especially because of the very annoying commercials that interrupt the content), and when I watch something, it’s mostly some good interview about crypto or some UHD content on my TV (mostly nature videos).

I honestly don't see what content could be shown on the BTT channel so that it would attract people to watch, considering that most people are still looking for exactly what is being offered to them now. Maybe it would just be an additional way to promote the forum - although young people are less and less interested in this way of communication.

It's really hard to found genuine crypto youtubers these days who can guide people about the right investment options and guide them through the technical working of bitcoin so that every watcher of that video become aware about new decentralised payment methods like bitcoin. But they all are busy in promoting crap and shitcoins which they promote and with clickbait titles they attract the audience.Suppose the video is of 10 minutes they simply waste 4-5 minutes in advertising their sponsored wallets and exchanges and hit the subscribe button. Moreover they don't have knowledge themselves and are just in rush to make a video why? Because google trends show crypto is hot topic to be searched and they can easily get an audience with such titles. So if the bitcointalk has a channel it should stay away from such things and provide knowledgeable and useful stuff to all people and slowly the channel will gain momentum and smart audience will be diverted towards it.
These all youtubers are going to make you millionaire with bitcoin just overnight but that's not gonna happen.

We need to be among one those who provides information not wholly into money making and promotion of any shitcoins.

That's make your video much more attractive to the Youtube's ever mysterious algorithm. It's been done by other people and it's proven to be an effective way to make your channel or video shown in the feeds of the users even if they don't have any prior interest in those things, if the user who wants to create a channel doesn't do that, they will have a limited engagement and it's not good for the channel in the long run.

bitcoin video on youtube, it can be said that it will add new enthusiasts to get involved in bitcoin, because if you create a bitcoin channel on youtube, it will make it easier for everyone to get to know bitcoin more deeply, and people will learn easily on the youtube channel, this is a very good idea..

Our YouTube channel has to be different from those shitty ones whose only purpose is to shill products and make the owners richer by giving nonsensical advices. Also, the thumbnails must not be like you're talking to a five year old kid. There's no reason for enthusiasm, nor for get-rich-quick schemes (that those folks advertise).

I believe that most of those youtubers who broadcast their earnings clearly know nothing about trading... They do know, though, how to earn from YouTube.  Smiley

I am thinking the videos will be monetized as a source of revenue, not that am supporting this, but I am guessing this because their are some ads on this forum, this makes me guess the vidoes will be monetized.
i'm very sure monetize is not the main goal but surely the channel will get monetize.  support or not, that's the decision of each member, while i myself am happy with the admin's plan to create a BTT youtube account.  what is certain is that the content that will be displayed must be about education and not just "click bait"

The bad thing about Youtube is that every content creator must follow the rules of the algorithm in order to get views and clicks(and make money). The algorithm forces content creators to make similar thumbnails and videos,in order to keep high click-trough rate and high engagement. If you try to be different from the crowd, you won't get traffic and views, which is sad.
Another bad thing is that almost all content creators are focused on making money, rather than providing the best possible information on a topic for free.
Let's be honest here.Cryptocurrencies aren't a very popular topic on Youtube. Most crypto videos have several thousand views, which is a really small amount. The crypto related YT channels are really small.
And last but not least, the constant paid promotion of shitcoins makes things even worse.

What's worse with that thumbnail is that it seems to be giving the message that "you can easily earn 13,000 PHP(260 USD) just by doing bitcoin trading", which as we know, is really really misleading simply due to the fact that trading is far more complicated than YouTubers make us think.
well, he does explain the basics of buying and selling bitcoin in his video(which is the majority of his video) and showed it with a small fund which I think is good. but yeah, the thumbnail is extremely misleading. the dude has over 100+kphp as capital for his trading hence higher profit. I just wish he also explained and emphasize the risk it has when trading.

I agree with the OP for the videos he has posted here as they don't have any real value to give a beginner a better understanding of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. However I want to point out that Youtube videos that explain mining in general are really informative and can help the newbies get in the mining business if they want to.So as already said here we have to divide wheat from the chaff.

For the forum channel I think only educational videos in general about what Bitcoin is and how it works together with many tutorial videos for different things related to cryptocurrencies, that would be good for the forum channel I think.

These social media platform like Youtube is very powerful when addressing us on how to start and what is the essence of bitcoin in our world.

Videos will help us visualize, and understand cryptocurrencies much clearer with complete detail and also for those people who likes watching instead of reading, you can subscribe on their channel.

Let's just support and help each other grow so that we can make build a healthy crypto community.

I'm going to put a channel that I haven't seen on the list and I think it's different from all the ones you've put here.

Trader University

It provides in-depth analysis and detailed explanations. Basically of two types: 1) about Bitcoin, its nature and current news 2) about shitcoins, to explain in detail why they are garbage. I've never seem him or other person holding his chin in his videos.

He also has some video on stock market and the like but focuses quite a bit on Bitcoin.

In short they are just copying one another so that they can also become popular, get bunch of views and fulfil the requirement of ad revenue structure.
It's all about earning money on the YouTube.

What could be best topic if BITCOIN or CRYPTO is highly searched word around the Google/YouTube platforms. The later platforms themselves earn huge amount of revenue from the crypto advertisement and thus the mentioned YouTube channels by you are the war-land for them to get more views.

However, I wanna specifically mention that, it's not just about the crypto channels but all the similar "categories" which may be cooking, entertainment, money making site reviews etc which are copied all the time.

All of them will have same subject, same content etc.

A channel from our forum is good. Here we can get precise information. Even some channel has started courses for cryptocurrency, which means for limited number of classes they're charging few hundred dollars.

Maybe an official YouTube channel could help us making things better. Here our forum users itself can create good videos and submit to the selection committee. Based on the experts knowledge they can select the videos and upload to the channel and reward few merits or some form of appreciation to the user who has created it.

Not your keys, not your coins!
If the forum has an official Youtube channel, it would be a channel for education, about Bitcoin from basics to advanced. About the forum rules, community contributions and suggestions to improve the forum.

If there is a playlist for speculation, it will cause attacks from people who don't like the forum. I watch many videos on the channel of Antonop and it is one of the best educational channel I know.

Perhaps we just need to separate the wheat from the chaff. And while we do not judge a book by its cover or a video by its thumbnail, it is also undeniable that thumbnails are oftentimes suggestive as to which one is truly informative and which one is a waste of time.

The kind of thumbnails posted by mk4 should tell me to go on find another Bitcoin video. If I were the one looking for a Bitcoin tutorial, I'd dismiss all of them right there and then simply because of their thumbnail. Or perhaps their title.

The holding chin is actually decent compared to those screaming thumbnails like what that youtuber from D.I.Y Investing channel does. Anyway, I get the point. I actually prefer they simply use charts or other graphics that shows none of their faces.

Mixed feelings with the clickbait thumbnails. Yes, they're doing those styles of thumbnails simply because it's what gets them clicks, but there are some that have those kinds of thumbnails that has actually decent videos that doesn't contain people that scream "moon" at you. Perfect example is the 3rd example(Coin Bureau) as I think he actually produces decent videos(outside the potentially sponsored coin/token vids).

Even Andreas himself has those kinds of thumbnails from time to time, despite his videos not sucking.

I’ve watched so many videos about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on Youtube that it’s amazing I haven’t gone into full strabismus mode, even with my high-powered prescription glasses.  One thing I’ve noticed is that Youtube as a platform for learning about crypto is a joke, a wasteland of professional Youtubers existing primarily to shill products—whether they’re shitty ones or not.  This video is a pretty good analysis of what’s going on, but there’s more to the story than just being an influencer (a word that I detest when used in the context of these phonies).

In particular I’ve noticed that there’s a trend toward videos becoming very similar in a sinister sort of way.  It’s almost as if there’s a formula these Youtubers follow, from the thumbnail to the intro music, and even to the content of the videos themselves.  I’d like to give a visual example of what I’m talking about, and you can click right out of this thread if you don’t want to see a bunch of images—but they’ll support my point.

Monkey See, Monkey Hold Chin:

By the way, this crap is all over other topics too, like video games.

Even stories about missing kids (or at least one I picked from a search):

And even random topics like true crime combined with fucking makeup:

I could go on and on with examples, but I’ve already provided too many (source: Youtube).  So here’s my second point: if bitcointalk decides to create a Youtube channel, I’m really hoping whoever’s in charge doesn’t decide to go the cookie-cutter route like all of the above jokers did.  I also hope the goal of the forum's channel isn't primarily to monetize its videos, else the creators are going to have to follow all of Youtube's algorithms to the letter--and I think that's exactly what these faceholders are doing with theirs, i.e., they've figured out exactly what type of video gets the most views, thumbs up, subscibes, and everything else they're obsessed with.

So please, at the very least let's not ever have a forum video with a thumbnail of Foxpup holding his/her/its chin (even though I'd love to have the Pup interviewed).
