It was fun back then but the fact that it's more stable and worth more than a lot of paper money makes it even more fun especially when you consider what you can do with it. It's also great fun hearing clueless journalists and economists who haven't investigated it properly try and work everything out while we have entire businesses set up around it and are trading brand new altcoins.

mine with your home computer and get 100's of coins is always fun. Specially if the prices skyrocket after a few years.

Sadly I missed it

I only ever mined 0.005 ish in 2013, but it was most certainly fun in and out of the mining industry Grin

if there happens to be a new coin that propose just the fun of mining, would you jump in?

Definitely not, I was mining in an already billion dollar coin. Altcoins are a big waste of time and resources.

hero members tend to push towards bitcoins rather than see alternatives to a better productivity. if the gold price is dropping you cant hold on the gold and hope it will rise..

I'm not here to make money, I'm here to make transactions easy and decentralized. No alternative coin is able to do this anywhere near as easily as Bitcoin can. Even if it could, bitcoins can do anything dash/drk/ether/counterparty can do. Alts stifle innovation, because you can just build these systems on top of Bitcoin and not have to sell your new mystery bucks.

I just don't see any benefits from altcoins. They're all either well-intended failures or unscrupulous schemes in the end. If you want to make a mined asset for fun, do it on the Bitcoin block chain. You get the security of the network and the ease of use.

before Bitcoins got a Market Value was it fun?

Bitcoins had a market value back in 2010. Are you asking if we were mining before that? Back when Satoshi was active on the forum?
I regret I haven't been around back then.
