I do consider what enormous powers bitcoin needs to face, but it is "the cause" to fight for in this age.

There's freedom of speech, relative freedom of choice... but all the "freedoms" are meaningless without an independent monetary system.

I say bitcoin is our tool to end the "tyranny" and I will continue to support it Smiley

We had tons of hacking, scam and whatever in these years. But, no matter what, bitcoin survived. And it will survive.

BFL and bitinstant is really what makes me wonder. Cool or not if big companies and the exchanges start scamming the future of bitcoin doesn't look good.

I personally think it will survive for a few more months or years. My big question is for how long. I'm not sure it will last forever. But I would not be surprised if P2P currency version 2.0 pops up to replace bitcoins.

It is done. I believe they shut down the blockchain today from lack of use. It was nice while it lasted.
That sucks. I was planning on using it later today too.

nah, the only confirmed scammer in that list is pirate.

and the 21 million is backed by a monstrous network the size of which the world has never seen.

I don't really think scams alone can bring down a currency. The majority of scams are outside of Bitcoin, and people don't lose faith in dollars just because they were scammed with them.

Consider MTgox, bitinstant, silk road, scammers, pirate, BFL, price crash, 21 million hard cap, not backed by anything, etc.

I love the idea. I love SR. But how many scams can we take before it falls apart? If bitinstant and BFL are scam, MTgox and SR follow, we fucked no? I was around when high was $36 and crashed to $2. The price crash doesn't worry me. But the scams do. If big companies and exchanges start scamming how do we survive? How do we get past not being able to turn coin in to cash? With BFL and bitinstant in mind I'm worried SR is next to disappear and that will be the final nail in the coffin.
